Cancelled FET due to thin uterus lining

Hi Guys,

I had ectopic pregnancy and my right tube was removed from my second IVF. As we have 3 blastocysts my RE suggested for FET. I was on BC pills for 21 days starting 02/10/06 and lupron 10 units from 2/26/06. I usually get period 12 days after starting lupron, but spotting starts 4-5 days before. So this time also same thing happened. As per protocol I have to start Delestrogen injections immediately Tuesday after my period that should be 3/14/06, but they asked me to start from 3/17/06. Here is the injection list:

2/26/06-3/16/06 -->> 10 units lupron

3/17/06 -->> 0.2 cc Delestrogen 5 units lupron

3/18/06-3/20/06 -->> 5 units lupron

3/21/06 -->> 0.4 cc Delestrogen 5 units lupron (They said lining is 7.5 probably the transfer will be one week after 24th)

3/24/06 -->> 0.6 cc Delestrogen 5 units lupron (No clue at that time why they increased the dosage)

3/28/06 they said they are cancelling the cycle as my uterus lining is 5mm and asked me to take 100mg Progestrone injection that night and stop all other injections. Asked me to come on the CD1 of my next period.

This is 3rd huge heart break.

Now I have lot of questions, hope some can answer me:

1. Is this lining issue common?
2. How long after taking 100mg of progesterone I can expect period?
3. What questions I need to ask my RE in my next appointment?

Any answers from you guys will defenetly help me.

I am doing FET right now too. I was on Lupron too to keep my from ovulating and then last week they started me on Estrace. Now this is probably similar to your Delestrogen - basically its estrogen. Estrogen thickens the lining of the uterus and they at least want it to be 9mm at time of transfer. If you didn't have trouble with your lining last time and actually achieved a pregnancy than I would ask why the lining is a problem now and is there any other meds. that you can take to thicken it. I have my next scan on Tuesday and I am hoping that my lining is good by then. They are upping my estrogen every 4 days...on Sat. I switch to 3 pills a day.

I am so sorry for your cancelled cycle but maybe you can get some answers when you meet with the Dr.

Thanks Allison, I will defenetly ask why the lining become an issue this cycle. Do you know when I can start my next FET.

I know clinics are different but mine says you can start on your next cycle....you don't have to wait anytime. If I get another -ive, I think I would start over right afterwards. I have 5 frosties left and I will transfer 2 so I'll have 3 leftover. Of course I hope I don't have to do another FET!! I hope you get to start soon - when do you meet back with your clinic?

Your response gave me lot of confidence. I have to meet my doctor on 4/6. I am waiting to hear a quick start date for my FET.

Like you I had lining issues discovered, when I had my retrieval which led to all my embryos being frozen and I had to go through treatment with estrogen, which helped my lining thicken.

I was disappointed but i had suffered an early miscarriage which can be explained by the poor womb lining. My doctor told me that its better to be late and achieve than to be sorry when its too late, which i believed.

My first FET worked and i have a healthy baby girl.

I know its difficult and its not easy, but if I were you I would take the safest option, nomatter how long it takes, mine took 8 months (a long time). Ask your Doctor for all the available options and choose the best.
