Help Please, worrying about gonal F dosage

Post by Mitzy »

Hi Ladies,
I have just been for my base line scan today, and I was told when I started my IVF that I have a high FSH 17.4. I don't think I would have been told if it wasn't that I mentioned that I have just come off Utovan hormone tablets. They said thats why I could have a high FSH.

I have been given my Gonal f and have to take a dosage of 450! from what I have been reading on this site, isn't this a very high dosage?

I start taking this on Friday and don't go back till the following Friday, for my next scan, and I am worring about OHSS. :!:

What dosage have you been on?

The reason I am worrying is if I do have a false FSH reading, then surely this dosage could be too much.

I hope someone can put my mind at rest.

 Hi Mitzy

In my hospital the highest dose is 300, which i was put on.

If i was you i would re-check with your clinic.

Don't don't worry too much about OHSS as they should give you a few scans to monitor your folly progress and the Gonal F dose can be reduced. Thats what they were doing with me.

Hope this help

Hi, thanks Jen1d for replying,

I took your advice and called my hospital, I told them of my concerns and they are going to see me for a scan on Tuesday, so I feel much happier now. :)

Thanks again.

Hi Mitzy

Im from Huddersfield as well, so wanted to say hello! Are you at Calderdale ACU? When I started my treatment (a year ago now) my scan showed borderline for polycystic ovaries, so they were cautious and put me on 150 Gonal F. I had no response at all after 5 days, so they upped me to 375! I was a bit worried about overstimulating, but I didnt.
Anyway, I wish you all the best with your treatment!

Love kim
