with the embryos that we had (i belive grade 5/6) did not worked,so she told us to go to another infertility specialist,my wife thinks that is good idea, but i feel that for them there is no other tecnique that they can try on us,i mean why would you tell us to go some place alse if NYU is one of the best infertility center ?is a2nd opinion really good think,or is just another way to say...sorry we used all the tricks in the book!! :?

Sorry for your unsucessful attempts. I don't think that any situation is guaranteed. I am currently a patient at Yale Fert. Clinic and even though I have had 2 children previously and the only reason I can't get pregnant now ( im 33) is because I had my tubes tied. They are only giving me a 55% chance to get pregnant.

If you look at all the women on here, you will see that some of them have been attempting for many tries. If your not happy with your clinic then go to another one. I would reccomend Yale they are great!

I have my EC tomorrow so I if you look under the april testers thread you will see my results.

Hugs!

Danielle

Hi Tony

Only two reasons I can think that they told you to look at another clinic is

1. He felt you were blaming them and suggesting you went to another clinic if you felt their clinic wasnt doing its best by you.

or

2. They have dodgy sucess rates and they dont want to treat the challenging cases and lower their sucess rates.

both fertility clinics I have been too told me they wouldnt give up on me and i really beleived them.

Doesnt really sound like that clinic wants you unless you make it easy for them.

just my 2c

you know Jay ,i think that the second reason is the real deal.....
we allways trusted our md and we allways did what they told us,this is
why i was shocked when they told us to go for a second opinion,
but....this other clinic that we whent to, they whant to try on us different methods and different tests, in other words is more complicate and intense,i don't know ....but......the new md told us that there is a really grate chanse to go home pregnant after they are done with the treatment on us....well i really whant to belive him...... :o

Tony,

It all sounds very frustrating, when all you need at the moment is someone to believe in you.

I just thought I would give you a positive story though - I changed clinics after my first cycle plus 2 unsuccessful FETs. After our first cycle with the new clinic, we are pregnant! So maybe a change can be good for your mindset as well.

Good luck Tony - your DW is very lucky to have you :-)

Hi Tony and Wife

Just wanted to say hang in there. Those disappointments are really hard knocks, but there is still every hope for you guys as long as you keep wanting this to happen.

Can they identify exactly why they want to refer you elsewhere? Perhaps there are certain things the clinic dont do (like for example culturing embryos to blastycyst 5 day embryos), which another clinic may provide options on.

Have faith, theres a horrible big fat element of pure chance in the whole thing. There are many people on these forums who have conceived after 3 or 4 attempts. Good luck to both of you.

Hi Tony & Wife,

I agree with Jaymee, that it could have something to do with their success rates. I found a very interesting article on the internet concerning clinics and the way they manipulate their numbers. I found the article @ http://www.givf.com/success.cfm. Referring patients to other clinics is just one of the many ways. It probably doesn't have anything to do with you or your potential fertiility so I wouldn't read anything into what they said whatsoever. A second opinion never hurts either and a change may be just what the doctor ordered.

well guys....this clinic is one of the best in Newyork,so to me is very odd
that they told us to go alsewere, yes maybe they are worryed that ther successfull rate will starting to drop with pipole like us,the md simply told us to go to this other clinic corneil that is and to see what they whant to try on us,
"they looks at things differently ,so maybe it will work out for you guys"she told us,but i have to say that at the first visit at the new clinic we allready had all kind of tests and many more to come,is lot more involved, this new md is very positive,so with a miracle this may work....
they have a webside www.ivf.org
who' knows...i'm soo confused,i'm still puzzled why they let us go,
but you know dear friends ,maybe they really do look after ther
reputation , :? :(

Tony,
I am from washington DC area. Our first ICSI treatment was from one of the very well known clinics in NE (not NYU). But the results were dissopointing.. out of 16 retrieved eggs, only one ferilized ( and 4 Cell stage on day 3). they blamed on egg quality and did not talk to us anything about change in treatment. Later we moved to DC area and went to one of the popular clinics here.. During my 2nd ICSI, they tuned the protocol a little bit and monitored on daily basis, which resulted in better results, but not so good. Third time Dr changed me from long to stop protocol. This time 10 eggs were fertilized out of 15 retrived and went for day 5 transfer... So, what i am trying to say is, discuss with your doctor about how they could tune/adjust the protocol and that would have a major impact on the outcome.

Hope this helps!!
