OHSS sufferers, advise needed

Post by chellejaya »

Hi there

I just need to ask any OHSS sufferers some advise as I am experiencing some problems.
I am nearly 12 weeks pregnant and at around 4/5 weeks spent a week in hospital suffering with OHSS. My ovary was at 9cm and I was told that this could possibly stay like this for around 10/12 weeks.
I was now hoping at this stage (12wks) I would start to see some improvement but unfortunately, I can still feel that my ovary is very large. It isn't agony but its a bit painful and more irritating than anything.
The other worrying this is that on a couple of occasions, I have noticed brown spotting when i go to the loo.
I haven't contacted anyone (hospital/mw) yet as I wanted to just ask if anyone here has experienced the same problems and whether the spotting is to do with my ovary or something more serious.
Has anyone still had OHSS symptoms for longer than 10/12 weeks?
Any advise or info would be helpful and hopefully put my mind at rest.
Many thanks

Michelle

I had OHSS till about 10-12 weeks but I wasn't in hospital with it - as yours was more severe it seems to follow that it could last longer so I wouldn't be too worried if I was you BUT I would still see GP, clinic or midwife just to put my mind at rest - I found that people were only too willing to play 'better safe than sorry' with me and never made me feel like I was being silly. I hope you get some help and good support and lots of reassurance. Try not to worry - you're probably absolutely fine and that brownish discharge sounds like old blood which you shouldn't worry about.

Best of luck

Thanks Cheryl.

I tried to phone my clinic this afternoon and there wasn't anyon there and my GP is away for two weeks.

I think tomorrow I may phone the clinic again for their advise.

Thanks again for yours. All the best.
