I am new to this forum and in need of advice. We went through 3rd ICSI in March 2006. ( Last period – 02/19, Egg retrieval 03/06, Day 5 blastocysts transfer 03/11 Grade 1 AA and Grade 2BB embryos). Lab work results showed positive pregnancy results on 03/21 and successive lab works showed good HCG numbers. Today (04/04) had first ultrasound. The doctor said, he was expected to see the embryo and heartbeat, but could only see the sag. He asked me to come back for another ultrasound on Monday 04/10. Is this common? What does this mean? I have started to feel negative and little scary. Is anyone else in my situation.. any information is appreciated. Thanks for listening and help in advance,
Sorry, Anamika, I'm not familiar with that. But I wanted to wish you luck and tell you to stay positive and try not to stress out. I hope some other ladies have some similar experiences that they can share with you. Did your doctor give you any indication of how common it is to only see the sac at the first ultrasound and not the heartbeat? I hope this week goes quick for you so your next ultrasound gets here soon so your mind can be put at ease. Keep positive!

Anamika, When did you have the scan done? How many days after transfer? Sometimes the embryos implant later then expected therefore they are not as fully progressed...so it may be that the scan was way too early.
I'm with Tracii on this one. I had my first scan at 6 weeks 5 days and my clinic wanted to wait a little longer as if it is too early a scan you don't always see the heartbeat. keep up your pma until your next scan as it sounds like your first was at only 4 weeks? The embryo would only be a few mm long and almost impossible to pick up on scan.

My embryo transfer was on Mar 10th ( day 5 transfer). First ultrasound was on April 04. i.e 25 days after transfer. I have an appointment for next week and hoping to hear positive result.
