Hi Yasmina, no, I have not experienced this before. Is it you are just all over the place thinking, and your brain is too busy to sleep? Hope things improve, as sleep deprevation is not good! Good luck with your 2 ww.

Gail, ISIDA Kiev is cheaper than IM Spain (by about half). If you want to ask any questions, just pm me. The clinic is fantastic, state of the art, very new and very clean. The staff are wonderful, and there are English speaking members, particularly Laura who is the main contact for foriegn patients. They looked after us so well at our initial consultation, and discovered things in my ultrasound that had been missed here in the UK and in Spain! They do seem to be very thorough and very efficient. There is no waiting list for donors.

Caz, wow, that's a great birthday your going to have. Whereabouts in the Gambia are you going? Good luck with your 5th!. We are just waiting for my AF, then I can have a scan to check on these bloomin cysts. If they have gone, I will be able to start on day 19, then I have another AF, then start proper on day 3 in prep for DET around about the middle of the cycle. So, I am looking to go back to Kiev mid to end May for tmt.

Lara, yep, day 5 check for cysts, day 19 of this cycle, then apparently AF then as above. How are you feeling? I know you will not want to get too relaxed until you have the scan tomorrow, but still no sign of AF or other symptoms must be good. Fingers crossed. x

LOL to everyone

Hi all,

Gail, thanks for your wishes. I looked into IM/ISIDA myself and really liked ISIDA (Kiev), not only because they were so much cheaper - they were efficient, prompt to get back to me, honest etc. There are people who've tried both on this board, so it's worth asking around (maybe Kat). Good luck with whatever you decide.

Jo, good luck with the follie growth!

Bev, your plans sound very well-organised and thorough, so you know exactly what's meant to be happening when, which is very impressive. My clinic have always been a bit vague, and so have I! Anyway, the dreaded scan's tomorrow, I'm not gonna look at the screen, I'm gonna make DP do it!

Anna thanks for your message, if you're around it might be worth reading this board at the mo if you're investigating DE - as people are comparing different clinics abroad, in Europe where I believe you're thinking of going.

Hi Randa, Robyn, Caz, Debra, and welcome Yasmina - I think IVF drugs can disrupt sleep - all those hormones swilling around - it should calm down though.

Love to all,

Lara x

I had my second scan this morning. No wonder my right ovary is so uncomfortable it literally looks like a bunch of grapes! :?

Eight BIG follies on the right and four on the left. At least ten look like they will go to egg collection on Friday! :-)

Just waiting for a call from the clinic now to say when to do the Pregnyl shot tonight!!

And it's SPRING!! :-) :-)

sleep problems

Post by children »

Hi all,

Thanks for the warm welcome and reply. I basically sleep only every other night and will have a sleep study done tonight. E2 patches are known to cause anxiety this may be it. By the way, my history with ivf is attached and hope it helps.

Hi Yasmina

Did you have general anaesthetic? I've found that can muck up my sleep patterns, especially if it's a heavy one.

Hello Ladies:

I'm feeling better mentally today.

Jo:That is wonderful news! Ten follies are good!

Lara: Good luck on your scan tomorrow!

Bev: I don't know what is wrong with my body. I have high grade embryos. They fertilize without ICSI. They make it all the way to blastocyst stage but will not implant. I had 5 embies transferred last time and 3 were 5 - day blastocysts.

I'm glad your trip to Kiev went well.

Well, I've been working on my adoption. Will think about a frozen cycle later. DH does not want to spend any more $$$$$$. We have already spent a boatload!!!! If I could find out what my implantation problem is, I would be more apt to do the frozen cycle. I only have 4 frozen eggs. They will have to be thawed and then fertilized. I'm probably looking at 2 for transfer at a best case scenario.

Take care all,
Tammy

Def over 40 and need serious advice!!

Post by Kacey »

Sorry have a long posting...
Hello everyone
I have been reading the postings on this site now for the last few days. Found the site by chance.
I was wondering if anyone could offer me any guidance on my experience so far.
I am 41 years old and began the whole process of IVF in Nov. 2005. After consultation with the advisor/coordinator/registrar, my husband and I were informed that the cost would be about £3,500. I’m not at all sure whether she mentioned anything about drugs and any extra charges for them. I naturally assumed that price was for everything!! At the time we were both very nervous and feeling very vulnerable (as you can imagine). There should have been so many questions that we should have asked her.
Anyway, we were enrolled.
My blood tests were fine. I was asked to administer the syneral spray which did not work for me. I had to start the whole process again a month later.
This time they found that because I didn’t respond so well last time, I was put on max dosage (600 units) puregon. This was at a cost of about £400 pounds at a time, I needed about 6 bottles of this. I was having a blood test everyday for nine days. Each time three different tests were done. )LH, proj, oest? Each at a cost of £90. (£270x9 days!!)

Four embryos were finally achieved. Three transferred. I will find out on Friday (7th April 06) if I’m pregnant.
The whole process has ended up costing me £10,000. couldn’t believe it when the final balance was calculated. Now, I never ever thought that I would fall pregnant the first time round so we had put aside enough money for three attempts. This is impossible for us now!
Where did it all go wrong. Naturally, if this first attempt works out for us, It’s not as bad-but what happens if it doesn’t?

HI KACEY

YES I CAN UNDERSTAND EXACTLY HOW YOU ARE FEELING!!!! EACH TREATMENT FOR ME HAS COST AROUND £4000 INCLUSIVE. I KNOW ALL CLINICS VARY BUT THAT IS A BIG DIFFERENCE!!

LIKE YOU SAID IF IT WORKS THEN YOU WONT MIND - I HAVE HAD 4 ATTEMPTS COSTING 16K - SO IF YOU END UP WITH A BABY THEN IT WILL BE MONEY WELL SPENT.

WHEN WAS EGG TRANSFER? AND HOW ARE YOU FEELING AS YOU'RE VERY CLOSE TO TEST DATE - I WILL KEEP EVERYTHING CROSSED FOR A BFP (BIG FAT POSITIVE) FOR YOU!!! :D

Hi Kacey,

Me too, I only found out this site by chance and am hooked to it. We can learn a lot from everyone’s experience. However, please never compare yourself with anyone else, because the medicine use and responses from each individual could be very different. I am in US, from what I know the cost of IVF varies quite a bit. I quoted 3 clinics and was told 16K, ~11K, and 8.5K. None of this cost includes any medication. We spent ~15K total now (my process is listed below). My 1st preg test day will be on April 12. I am keeping my fingers crossed for all of us waiting for the big BFP!

I am new to this, but I think this is the thread that I belong in. I am 43 and I have just finished my first IVF cycle with donor eggs. I had my blood test today and got a BFP! This whole process is overwhelming to me. I married last year and my DH & I started TTC. I was dumbfounded to learn that my eggs were old. I had never given it a thought. I have 2 children the youngest is 15 and never had any GYN problems whatsoever so I never immagined there would be a problem TTC. I think of all the money I have spent over the years trying not to get pregnant.

Now I have made it through this 2ww, but I have to have another blood test in 2 days. Up until today, I had never given it a thought that things wouldn't be okay. So now all I can think about is "what if." My nerves are shot already. I just pray that all continues to be okay because this is absolutely the biggest emotional rollacoaster ride I have ever been on!

I would like to be added to the list. I have included my 2nd Beta test date and copied the list. I hope I did it right.

What a nice job you have done! Thanks for making a list of all of over 40 crowd! I had blood drawn today for E2 and P4 levels, was told they won't call if they are normal. I did not receive any phone calls, I guess I am ok for now. HPT is still BFN for now, though. My test day will be April 12 and can hardly wait! BTW, had my first sleep study done and I slept 6.5 h in a hospital bed. Strange! Yasmina
