Follie Question - Please Help

I started my stim meds April 1. I went this morning for my ultrasound to check out my follies. Since this is my first IVF attempt, I do not know exactly what this means, but here is what the doctor told me...

I have 2 on my left side that are 16 and 17. I have 4 others, one from the left and 3 from the right that are 12. I have 2 more, one from each side, that are 8 and 9, respectively. The doctor said that they may have to ignore the 2 that are so far ahead to focus on the 4 that are around the same size.

Has anyone else had these same kind of results? Is this normal? Will I still produce enough eggs?

Sorry for all the questions. I am not uneducated, but when this is all so new, I think I am asking the right questions, but I am not sure I am at all.

My follies were in a big range. I think that is normal. Every ultrasound that I had I would have follies that were up to 10mm's different. In the end I had some in the low-mid 20's and some still around 10. Their goal will be get as many as they can to mature (which is at least 18mm) at the same time so that when they do your retrieval they will have the largest amount in the mature size (high teens, low 20's). Some may be too large and some may be too small.

Also, was this your first ultrasound? If so, you'll find that new follies keep popping up. I started out having 12 follies the first ultrasound...and by the end I had 28 follies. Again, some were too large and some were too small, but they were able to get a decent amount at the right mature size.

When they did my ER, they found lots more follies than they saw on the ultrasound. They said follicles can sometimes be "hidden" by other ones therefore not visible on the ultrasound. I know you have the same docs as I do so I know how confusing it all is. I had to literally ask the nurse to explain it all. They only had 9 follies counted but ended up getting 13 eggs!

Don't be afraid to ask questions. They are getting paid well to answer - remember that!

Also one folicle can have more then one egg just like (unfortunately) it can have none. As far as I know there is now way to tell until ER
