Has Anyone Started Injections with a period

Post by Cazzy »

Hi AlL, thanks for you support regarding my thread -- bleeding whilst on menopur -- I know the support is one way at the moment and hope to be able to be there for others when I am feeling better .

Tracie came up with a good question and I would really like to know if :

Anyone else started injections before starting a period?? I re read my notes and it says you have your baseline scan and start injections once the period has started but mine had not and they did't ask me.

Could this be the reason and have they got it wrong ????.

Will be interesting to see if anyone else started injections without a period, if so then guess I am clutching at straws.

Thanks for all your support it means so much to me at the moment.

Tracie, thanks again for all your support will phone you when I feel little better.

Hugs
Caz
x

Hi Caz

I started injections without a period but I might be a bit different because I hadn't had a period since January so the hospital scanned me and decided it was ok for me to start injections without one because the lining of my womb was so thin.

I don't know if this helps.

Luv
Jo

Hi Caz,

I only rarely have periods. When I started my treatment, the hospital scanned me, but my lining was thick, so they induced a period with Norethisterone, and I started injecting Buserelin on the first day of the period. They had told me beforehand that if the lining was thin I'd be able to start without a period, though, like Jo.

I really feel for you as it sounds like your clinic have been terribly unsupportive and uninformative. If you can keep a level head, I would write a list of all the things you've been told and read, and all the things you want to ask at your next appointment. You need answers about why they would abandon - if the bleeding you're having is just AF, then all that's happened is you've started injections a couple of days too early - maybe all is not lost?

Lots of luck on Sunday, I really hope they can sort it out. Be strong and make sure they clear this all up for you - it's terrible that you're left with unanswered questions like this! Thinking of you,
Beck x

Don't know if this will help or get you more confused. I don't have natural periods, so for both goes I just started straight away with the Buserelin jabs. I had an abandobed IVF first go due to OHSS, but 2nd go was FET and got pg, so does work (mc but that is a different story). This time around (FET) I had to have a period induced because I had been pregnant and the hormones were kicking in and thickening the womb lining up.
So it sounds as if there are no set rules in the IVF scenario - which is no help to you, but hopefully makes you realise that you can get pg either way!
Take care.
Michelle

Thanks All, I'm not sure what the AF, FET, OHSS, etc mean - lol's but it's comforting to know others have started injections without having a period. I was convinced they/I had done something wrong.

This has all be strange from the start as although my FSH came down from 28 to 8 I bleed that month for 24 days. I was still bleeding when I started sniffing and they said that was OK.

The baseline scan showed the Endo was 3mm ?? and I was told to inject last Sunday even though I hadn't had a period. Within 34 hours of injecting I starting bleeding and have been ever since. It's also really heavy so I don't understand where it's coming from if the lining was so thin only a few days before.

They have not given us any support, offered to see me, do blood tests etc just told me to carry on but it was likely the cycle would be cancelled as they had never had anyone bleed whilst on menopur.

The clinic have been useless, we have so many un answered questions, don't understand what has gone on, the consultant wouldn't speak with us and we've had no support. I even asked if Icould have a later scan tomorrow (9am) as we have an hour's drive and my doctor thinks I'm very low in Iron. They said no because they didn't like to stay late on a Sunday.

I feel sick at the thought of going tomorrow and haven't slept the last 3 nights.

Thanks for your support, I will let you know what they say tomorrow. I have everything crossed it will be OK but have a feeling this is going to be a no no after waiting so long for the chance.

Night Night
Cazzy
x
