Hurrah, at last I can announce that Emily Ann Cane made her way into the world at 1.00am Saturday 8th April after a mammoth long labour! I was rushed in Thurs morning with heavy red bleeding and induced as a high risk patient (bleeding and high blood pressure) but after 12 hours of prostaglandin gel I was only just opening up cervix and it then took a further 17 hours of labour (plus delicious epidural after hours of agony) to get her out. I was about to be rushed in for emergency C-section when they discovered that I'd taken 4 hours to get to 8cm dilated from 7cm (and they'd been expecting me to be ready to push) but then they checked me a little later before wheeling me down and I was 10- cm -hurrah. A further 2 hours of pushing later and little Emily emerged no worse the wear - 8pounds, 12 oz and absolutely beautiful. It was love at first sight and I'm enjoying every second - we've just come home today and life has never felt so incredibly special. I'll post some photos when I can - congrats to every one else who also delivered this week and thanks for messages of support.

Bummer that it was quite the labour, thank goodness that part is done now.

Thanks for messages guys, I'm exhausted but loving every sleepless second. I can't believe she was 8,12 because she looks so tiny. I think she's a long, thin baby rather than chunky so luckily I managed to squeeze her out!! I'll post some photos soon
