How many Cells?

Post by Mitzy »

Hi All and happy Easter,

I have been looking at previous posts trying to find out a bit of info.

We had our 1 little embie transfered on Wednesday, and I feel a bit in the dark. We had a NHS IVF and also had ICSI, but I feel that if we had been paying for out treatment we would have been given more info.

What I would like to know is on 2 day transfers were you told what grade your embies were, and how many cells, and did you see a Doctor before ET?

We were led back into the theatre, and didn't see a Doctor, I asked about the embie, and all I was told was that when they looked early in the morning it had divided and was 2 cell but, they would expect it to be 4 cell later that day, and when asked about grade, it was hard to tell but was average!!

Sorry for all the questions, but when you only have 1 little 2 cell embie put back and keep reading about 6 and 8 cell transfers, it doesn't half worry me, that mine won't make it.

It would be good to hear from anyone else who has had a NHS treatment.

We have had two private IVF transfers. Our first transfer was of a 4 cell & 3 cell at 2 days. Our second transfer was two 2 cell.

Unfortuneatly neither Course of treatment resulted in a pregnancy.

There is a thread which is It only takes one on the General Forum.

It doesnt matter how many cells if it wants to dig in it will.

Its difficult to relax during the 2ww and we all analise everything but we all have to try to stay positive.

Good Luck and hope you get a BFP!

Hi Mitzy

Our embryos were both 3 cell for a 2 day transfer and we didnt know the grade. (Didnt know as much as I know now, so didnt ask). Im sure I remember the embryologist saying they transfer them if they are 2 to 4 cell. Did you go to one of the Leeds hospitals? We were at St James, also on an NHS cycle. Maybe its normal that they dont discuss too much about grades, its just that through using this website we are a lot more knowledgeable about what is going on!

Good luck!

I would not worry too much about the number of cells, as really this is no indication of success, we had a 16 cell emby which failed!!!!
