Hi Everyone
Hope you are all well. At last midwife appointment she told us about vitamin k injection for baby to have after birth, something to do with blood clotting. We have to decide if we want it. Did your babies have it, what do you think?
Thanks for any help.
Hi Leigh, hope that everything is ok with you and babe. x x

We did agree to let Jenna have Vitamin K by injection. There wasnt enough conclusive evidence about side effects (such as possibility of increase of chance of leukaemia) and didnt want to risk it in case she did then have problems with bleeding. (Which can lead to brain damage and even death).
There is a good article on www.babycentre.co.uk on vitamin K if you want to read it.
We also decided that we prefered to let her have the injection rather than giving it orally ourselves, because the injection is supposed to be more effective. (It also doesnt taste very nice apparently and we didnt like the idea of having to give medicine to a tiny baby ourselves).
Hope this helps!
Love Kim

I think K has said the same opinions as I hold. I too gave both Abby and Ryan the injection. One friend I have gave her baby the oral medicine as she had leukemia as a baby so didnt want to take a chance. I think it should be given but how it is given is entirely your choice, and the poor mites get so many jabs in the first 6 months, 1 more wont hurt!
