I'm having my first Laparoscopy on April 26th, and was wondering if anybody can tell me what will happen, what will I experience and if it really helps with the treatment. I already did 3 IVF's and after surgery we will be doing #4.

I have had 2 Laparoscopies now, they run dye through your tubes to see if it passes ok, they use it to see if there is any blockage. Both mine are blocked. I didn't really experience any pain after, just a bit uncomfortable, you will have a few stitches, but the incision is very small.
Hope this helps and Good Luck.

I had my first Lap 6 weeks ago, It was also my first ever operation so i was quite nervous but everything went well with minimal pain. I had 3 incisions and a few stitches. It's really nothing to be worried about.
Hope that everything goes really well and you are soon back on your feet.
Hi,
I have had 2 laparoscopys, one I new nothing about as it was just before my ectopic 17years ago, the second was 2 years ago after years of severe AF pain. I went in as a day case, got changed into dressing gown and slippers and walked to theatre, they put you to sleep, and the next thing you know is wakeing up in recovery. You will feel dopey and bloated afterwards, but thats all. You will have a couple of little incisions and stitches but again nothing to woory about.
Wishing you lots of luck and don't worry

Hi there,
Just another wee voice in the crowd to say its it was also fine I have had two laps also. I was very worried before the first time, but it was very needless.
Both times I was in and out of theatre and out of theatre in an hour and home from the hospital literally an hour after that, with zero pain and teeny butterfly stitches removed a week later.
This was for tubal surgery both times, what are you having? Do they suspect endo or fibroids? IVF bypasses the blocked tubes anyway, are they looking for something else specific? I have heard that hydrosalinx (??) can lower chances of IVF (ie when theres toxic fluid from the tubes in the uterus) so if this was a problem and they were fixing this it could help?
I wish you lots of luck in your next attempt.

My doctor wants to see for endo and my left ovary is to high and the past 2 attempts they couldn't get to it to remove eggs, so he wants to see if he can fix that, and if I have anything left over from my first pregnancy, I was about 6 months when I delivered my son, so not sure of scar tissue or etc.
Thanks for all the help.

i have just had a lap two weeks ago. I am about to go back to work tommorow. I have stage 4 endo and in lap they were able to remove a lot of the adhesions. i was advised to do this prior to the start of my next icsi as it would improve the environment for the embroys to develop.
