Cost of IUI

Post by annam »

:(

Hello all

I am new to this board and have recently been told that we would be suitable for IUI. We have been ttc for 3 years now for our second child, and a recent test showed that my husband has only 25% sperm motility.

After a long wait to see the consultant, we were told that we would not qualify for the treatment on the NHS because we already have a child, so I was wondering if anyone knows how much it is likely to cost us for IUI?

Any information would be a great help. Feeling really desperate at the moment as my friend has just announced her pregnancy!!

Thanks
Anna

My iui was £500, then + £51 for the HFEA fee, + £100 for the donor sperm.

£651. First go..... £776 second go because we had 2 inseminations. Extra insemination = £125.

Good Luck....... From what I gather thats an average cost. some clinics are less and some more. x x

Thank you for your replies. I am waiting for a letter from our consultant to see how much this wll cost us. From what I can gather though, it is likely that I will need more than one cycle done. There are not many who get success with their first attempt of IUI.

Better start saving now!

Another question I have is that when we thought we were having the treatment on the NHS, he said the waiting list was 18 months long. If we are now paying, do we still have the 18 month wait or not?

I have been wondering about my husbands sperm. His sperm count was 220 million per ejaculate. This is a very high sperm count I think. However then they said that there was only 25% motility. Does this mean that 55 Million sperm are moving? If this is right then we are still in with quite a good chance of conceiving naturally arn't we? I think I read somewhere that you are considered normal if you have more than 20 million sperm?

Can someone who knows about sperm give me some answers?

Thanks again for your replies

Anna

It only takes one sperm, so 55 millions sounds great to me!!!
My dh has none... thats why we use a donor.
Ive just got a BFN on my 2nd iui. Ive met one person who had success on 1st go of iui. (not on this site)
i would say you shouldn't have to wait..... Ask ur clinic.....

Good Luck x x :D

Hi Anna
My clinic has nhs waiting list of about 2 years but if you are paying you don't have to wait at all! We can pay for 3 iui and 1 ivf without losing our place on nhs waiting list. Hopefully we won't need that many.

MOTILITY-SCHOMOTILITY

Post by iuiman »

I HAD 30-35% MOTILITY AND IT WORKED. THE COUNT WAS AROUND 27,000,000. Just keep at it. The odds roll in your favor after awhile. IVF is not guaranteed either with about 50% success.

iui cost in new orleans

Post by iuiman »

$675 for the monitoring plus $375 for the actual IUI, plus the before/after drugs. About $1200 per month. IVF is around $12000.00 here.
