Acquiring donated embryos

Post by jillyB »

We are somewhat desperately trying to locate a clinic that is involved in the embryo donation participation scheme - we would like to have donated embryos - and thus need somebody to donate. It is not an easy search. If anybody knows of such a clinic - that is actively involved, please do let me know. Much appreciated. A lot of them advertise that they can offer this, but when we call, they say they have no embryos available. My fingers are crossed. Jill

Have you thought of maybe going abroad? I know that the clinic Instituto Marquise (IM) in Barcelona have an embryo donation programme. I would imagine that you would have to pay for this (like egg donation) but I have no idea what the cost is or the waiting list, if there is any. I know that they do not have a waiting list for egg donation - maybe it is the same for embryos.

Embryo donation

Post by jillyB »

Hello BevT. Thanks for your email. I emailed the clinic in Barcelona last night - they've come back to me today. It all comes across as efficient -a and quick. They say there is a two month waiting list. I've heard of this clinic before in the news - do you know anything about it - its reputation, etc? Many thanks for your help. J.

Hi Jilly,

We have been to IM for an initial consultation for donor egg tmt. They seemed very efficient and very helpful. There is an English doctor there, Victoria Walker, who is very nice. A couple of other girls have been to IM on the "Over 40 Crowd" thread and have found everything good. We have now decided to have tmt in the Ukraine for various reasons, but I don't know if they do donor embryos there. It may be worth you contacting them also, they are called Isida, and are in Kiev. If they do do embryo donation, the cost may be more affordable. The difference in cost for the egg donation programme was about 50% less in the Ukraine, than that in Spain.

Good luck
