i am so pleased for you , what a great turnaround!
same height for me, cant work out kgs ( duh) but have put on around 7-8lbs, BUT am so confused with since when as i put on some 1lbs with ivf, then it levelled off with pregnancy 1st trim , now its going up slowly ........ i would nt be too concerned at this stage if i were you as it is twins you are carrying........
hope you are feeling well in yourself , notice you are 1 day ahead of me , august babies!

Hi everyone

Just checking in! Our little one's an August baby - they say the 14th. I'm only 5'1'' and am feeling really quite round! Determined not to start waddling too soon though! Lots of people have said "Ooo, you're really starting to bloom now!" We all know what that means, huh? Fat! However, today I've had a few people say "Ooo, you're everso petite for half-way through" So, I guess I'll keep my head down and just accept what will be will be. The main thing is that there's a baby in there.

Not sure if I've felt baby move yet. Thought I've been feeling the odd 'twitch' the last couple of evenings - could that be it? Off to see midwife on Wed - can't wait to check all's well. Then, u/s on 3rd April @ 21 wks.

Mother's Day yesterday, and DF had been out and bought a card and cd from baby with a little note to say 'thanks for keeping me warm and can't wait to see you, Daddy and Ches (dog)'. How sweet - completely unexpected!

Glad to see you're getting along ok. Take care.

Hi guys.

Just wanted to let you know I joined the dripping titty club this week. Anyone else experiencing leakage yet?

Fun stuff!

Also, I got off the morning sickness meds and I'm now maintaining without - that's huge for me, as I've tried a few times to get off them unsuccessfully.

I've passed the halfway point and hopefully this is not half the growth I'm going to get or I'm going to be huge!! Anyways, feeling alive and glad to be pregnant for the time being. Spring has arrived here! My flowers are poking up, and I bought myself a bouquet of fresh tulips from the market yesterday.

Hope you all are well - there's a group of us right around the same point.

hello ladies

have been a lazy bugger the last week or so, didn't make it to the PC atall. What lovely news though to come back to

- Jen fantastic, I have been thinking about you so much, wondering what I would feel in your situation. I am so happy for you all.

- Lav do hope U/s goes well, 21 weeks is a strange scan as you just get to see bits of baby now, never whole baby on the screen anymore! Oh blimey, missed mother's day, it's a different day here Grrrrr

I have felt sweetie move for a couple of weeks now, but it's getting quite edefinite now. Dh could feel him for sure last night with his hand on my belly (sweetie is a BOY  )

Denise - glad you are off the sicky drugs. Lucky you with Spring, we had a day or wto of mild weather but it's turned to rain and sleet again, poor little flowers are trying to come up but it's just cold and soggy now

Mandy - hope your Gall bladder isn't giving you too much jip, it can be painful I know poor you....

Chrissie - how are you????

I only just started to put on weight, lost 5kg (10 pounds) in the 1st Tri mostly water from the drugs I reckon, so by putting on a bit now, hopefully wont end up like a hippo. My bump is quite nice and round. solved the knicker problem with microphase BIG knickers for maternity, wonderful comfort at last!!

Had scan last Friday, 20 weeks, 2 days. Confirmed that sweetie is a boy, and a BIG one at that, already was 351g and 25cm long (average for 22 weeks), but glad that maternal diabetes is ruled out,k so it must be a good pregnancy and good placenta. Only little clouds - have checked my thyroid antibodies waiting for results, if htye have risen they could cause hypothyroid in the baby (I have blood tests regularly and take hormone so in utero no prblems), then baby would need tmt on birth, but all not too scary, they said quite routine. They also commented that my placenta is low, but not to worry as they usually move up in the next 10 weeks  so just added that to my prayer list....

Otherwise all is good, start preggy swim class Tuesday, excited abouyt that at last to speak with some other preggy girlies!!

hugs to all

Hi everyone
Everyone sounds so cheery. I have hopefully just gotten over the morning sickness. I have quite the round belly and have gained about 7lbs finally. I don't feel much movement I hope that isn't a bad sign. I got a dr appointment on Thurs and a scan next week, so I am anxiously waiting.
I will keep you all updated.
Denise - I don't have an ob yet.

Hi everyone,

Sorry I haven't been around for a while - been busy with visitors and whilst I've been keeping an eye on your posts, haven't really had the opportunity to post myself!

So glad to hear you are all fit, well and blooming! Haven't personally had the knicker problem yet - but I mostly wear trousers, so maybe that helps a lot. Have been so grateful to friends lending me stuff... I very stupidly thought that I'd get away with some maternity jeans and some of my larger shirts. WRONG!! I've put on about 5kg so far, but my tummy is sticking right out so there's no way I can button my loose shirts around it, and t-shirts ride up in a rediculous fashion. Cellulite is a bit of a bummer, as are the roadmap of threadveins appearing ALL over my legs, but otherwise I'm pretty much enjoying it.

So, looking forward to hearing all your latest news. We've got a scan on Saturday - can't wait!

Take care,
Caroline

Hey second tri gals - wakey wakey!

We're almost into the third tri! Yeah! I've been feeling good, other than the increase in heart-burn.

I'm measuring over 30 weeks by now - about 7 or 8 weeks ahead! I can feel both babies kicking and moving now, and DH has felt it too. If I'm laying still I can see the babies moving. Very touching experience!

I've gained about 7 lbs this pg so far, so feeling very healthy!'

Hope you all are well.

ps Chrissy, hope the sickness is finally over.

hi girls
just reading denises post and it sounds great with twins! , i cant wait for dh to be able to feel baby moving too, not quite happening yet though , whenever he puts his hand on when it moves it stops , hopefully a calming influence!
a tip for anyone interested, i have found ebay to be brilliant for casual maternitywear, and i caved in and ordered the black trouser suit from Next last week for work , which for us UK people is a great fit and makes me look less bumpy round the belly! had a relaxing break for weekend and have just started to think about writing a list for baby purchases!
how are you all feeling?

Hi everyone,
and before I go any further, let me just say

KEGELS, KEGELS, KEGELS!

Don't forget to do about 200 a day... while you are reading this you could easily get 50 done!

Well, anyone else feel that this tri seems to be going a whole lot faster than the first? Haven't bought ANYTHING yet... not a babygrow, nothing. So am itching to get started without going over the top. Have had loads of very generous offers of lends, like moses baskets, baby hammocks, carriers... friends of ours had triplets last year (another IVF success story) and have 3 of everything - they are like a newborn equipment lending library - fantastic!

Only thing I'm debating is pushchair. Want to go for a travel system, but not a 3-wheeler, as a few friends have not had good times with them. Only reasonably priced brands available in Singapore are Maclaren (too short in the handles for DH and myself) and Graco (DH likes but I'm not sold... v. bulky and fussy looking, also heavy) Anyone else got any suggestions?

Another question - anyone thinking of using reusable nappies (like bambino mio?)? I really really want to, but my mother-in-law has said that they are more trouble than they are worth. I don't agree, but it's hard persuading DH when his mum is being so adamant. Again, any advice?

Had another appointment last Saturday... baby was not being very helpful, but the doctor managed a measurement reading of over 600g... quite big for age. Am already wincing at the thought and revising thoughts about epidurals! DH was over 10lb at birth, so gotta expect a biggun!

Cheers everyone - hope you are feeling top notch... please post progress!

Denise,

I know this is all so exciting - Looks like yours will be big ones :)

I can feel my two moving all the time now - Makes me feel so happy to feel the little ones moving away getting comfortable in my belly :)

We still have not bought much at all, wondering when we should?

I'm not sure when to start buying.

We're accumulating stuff, but most of it is hand me downs from our friends who've already had kids.

With twins, probably by the time you're getting to the third tri, you should at least have an idea what you want, just in case the babes decide to come early!

hello 2nd tri ladies

I hope you dont mind me butting in with my opinion!!

Caroline - your question about reuseable/cloth nappies.

There are 2 advantages
(1) is the cost - they estimate that babies use something like 5000 nappies in the first 2.5 years. Once you buy your cloth nappies and bits to go with them the only other charge is the cost of washing them.
(2) The environmental issues. Disposable nappies take years to decompose. In the UK they just get dumped in a land fill somewhere.
Our local council offers an incentive to use Cloth nappies (only £10 a year but it is something)

I am expecting twins so these issues were double for me!
fortunately my DH and both Mums are supportive of the decision to use cloth nappies and my DH has also encouraged me to find a laundry service even if it is just for the first few months.

I wish you lots of luck with your MIL!!
Best wishes
Ange

Thanks Ange-

Those were pretty much my arguments too - and as you have twins, it's even more vital!

My MIL's comments are kindly meant and stem from what happened with her 2 daughters... neither of them got on with reuseable and ended up wasting a lot of money buying the reuseable first and then disposable anyway. My younger sister-in-law returned to work after 6 months and found disposables more convenient for the day care. I get the impression that she hadn't bought enough reuseables either - and was having to do lots of small washes, sending her elec bill up. Guess my MIL is trying to help us avoid this as well.

Well a good friend of mine who uses bambino mio and swears by them has offered to lend me her smallest size set. If I get on with them, I'll have a stronger case for buying the lot. If not, we won't have wasted a heap of money. That sounds like the best compromise I can find.

Thanks so much for 'butting in'... comments really appreciated. All the best for the next few weeks, not long for you now!
