Start of stims delayed- Looking for thoughts and experiences

Post by chunchun »

Hi,

I had earlier posted this message in my first topic 'AF after BCPs and Lupron', and I was wondering, if everybody had a chance to look at this message, there fore I am posting this message again under a new topic.

I had my u/s and blood work to see if I Could start on stims ( my day 2 of AF today).
The cyst in my rt ovary continues to linger on and is big enough for the Docs to delay my stims for a few days more. The plan of action is to continue the Lupron and aspirate the fluid out of the cyst ( happens to be a clear one) by wednesday next.
I may start on my stims from Friday next ( day 9/10 of AF).

My concerns are :
Is the delay in starting on Stims ( day 10 after Af as against day 4-5) a serious issue? I am told since I wil be on Lupron it just does not matter.

Does fluid aspiration of cyst have any bearing on the stims and meds and the cycle itself?

If you have been through this or know about, Please share.

Hi Miel,

I did see your ER results. Congrats ! on that and Good luck to you.

Thanks

Chunchun,
Thanks for the encouraging words. I am very excited.
About the stim start date....
I know that it is policy to start the stims on a saturday. I guess it is easier for the clinic to manage. This may be confusing to explain, but I will try....Whenever you have AF, you start the saturday after that as long as your Estrogen level shows that you are suppressed. Then they say no matter what cycle day it really is, that saturday becomes cd 3. For this reason, I was freaking out because I never really had a period and I was afraid that I was going to have to put it off for another week. But I had a blood test 14 days after Luperon, and if was not suppressed (for example, I had a cyst) they said that they would keep me on the luperon for another week and the next saturday would be cd3 (even though it really wouldn't have been. But I had no period, but I was still suppressed with a level of 9. I dont think there is any reason for concern. They really know what they are doing, that is why we pay them the big bucks.
Good luck.

Hi,

I had my u/s and the doc tried cyst aspiration on 19th, but unfortunately I was told that it was not follicular cyst and the liquid was not coming out easily. Infact a gelly kind of liquid came out and that too the doc had to try out hard. Now I have been told that I have to get a surgery done (laproscopy) to get the cyst cut out. I am having the surgery on 27th.

I am only on BCP now, my lupron stopped and ofcourse, there is no way they could start me on stims. so, my whole thing has got postponed for a while. This has been little frustrating, but of course It looks like I am left with no choice.

Wondering anybody is/has been in a similar situation. Let me know if any body has experienced this.

Thanks in advance.

So sorry to hear about this. But it could be a good thing. Studies show that following a laporoscopy, the next 3-4 months make you very fertile. I had a lap done in December. Best of luck.
