In 3 months time we'll be having our 2nd attempt at IVF. My husband works away from home a lot and we wondered if it would be best to freeze a sample incase he couldn't get home when required. What are the success rates with frozen - better or not? Help!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Moritsha,
I may be wrong, but I think they will only freeze sperm after it has been checked for genetic defects and washed. I know this is the case with known donors, but I'm not sure how it will work with it being your DH's. I should imagine it is the same and I know it's quite expensive.
Good luck.
Hi Mortisha,
The clinic I go to freezes DH's sperm. They like to have it as a back up in the freezer in case something goes wrong on the day. There is a charge for this. They use fresh sperm as their preferred option. I'm not sure what the difference in success rate is. Hope your DH will be home to provide the fresh stuff and to look after you.
Good luck.
Faith
My Dh travels alot for work as well and we always had 'backup'. They say fresh is always better so if your Dh can be there at the time - well it is great but if he can't well...better to have plan B. You can not really control the scheduling with IVF because your body reacts in different ways so it is better to be safe and not have to go through everything only to find out DH can not be there on the right day.
