Hi Gail,

It's OK to be worried. This is an incredible challenging event- you just need to be strong a little bit more. I'm sure I'll feel tha same way as you when I get to that point. You only have a week+ to go. May be if you try to read something that will make you feel happy a magazine or a funny novel. I find that reading is the only way I can truly distract my mind completely of -ve thoughts.

Sending you baby dust!

Firstly - best of luck tomorrow Carolyn, I'll be thinking of you!

Brenjamie - my fingers will be crossed for you too on Friday

Natalie - your scan sounds like a right shocker but please try not to be down about it, think positively and I am sure things will go right for you.

Dania - I haven't seen 50 first dates..? LucyBucy's a childhood nickname. I'm also called Luby but I noticed that had already been taken.. Lucy.. I just bought the Zita West book that I have heard mentioned quite a few times on here - just having a quick flick through the IVF section has answered so many questions on side effects like tiredness, which ZW says could be just due to feeling emotionally fragile.

Gail - sending you lots of twinkly positive vibes! Just look after yourself honey x

As for me, I had a scan and blood test today! Scan is 100% fine and I'm to start taking 150 units of Puregon on Thursday and reducing my buserelin nasal spray to one nostril, 3 times a day. Bit daunted by prospect of body and emotional changes that may be coming but on the whole I'm feeling v excited about the next stage. I wasn't given any dates for the next scan or EC tho..

Has anyone else tried taking DHA supplements? Just read about it in ZW's book...?

Well Hello Everyone

Lots going on and seems like we are well and truley riding the ups & downs on the roller coaster right now.

Natalie - I am so sorry that you had the scan from hell. Try to stay positive - I know that it is easier said than done. Glad that you are onto the next stage and can at least get going with the stimmies. I had a polycystic ovary at the start also but they have let me go ahead.

Brenda - hope that all is well ahead of Friday. You know that it can work for you - keep looking at Molly and telling yourself that it has worked so why not again. Fingers & toes crossed for you.

Sally - shame that there will be no Hammersmith rendez vous for you & me. Hope that they look after me tomorrow. Thanks for the advice on what to drink afterwards. Think that is important especially if I have lots of follices and they are concerned about OHSS for me.

Lucybucy - interested to read what you find out about acupuncture. If it really helps then I would be keen to give it a try (next cycle). Glad that scan and bloods went well. I found moods were less bad once I got to Puregon. It was just then that my tummy got huge instead. Sorry. Am reading Zita but not doing supplements other than Folic Acid and Baby Aspril from EC.

Prissy - hope that you are being well looked after by dh and are getting loads of rest.

Dania - I did not have a scan until Day 9 of stimmies so try not to worry too much. Injections in the side of legs near the top seemed to work quite well for me. No real bruises and less tender than my tummy so may be worth a try? We need to give you help with the smiles!!!

Wendy - hope that scan goes well on Thursday and that you can move onto the excitement of stimmies!!

Gail - hoping that AF will stay well away and not rear her ugly head. Try to stay positive if you can. The best advice I have seen is to pile up the chick flicks on dvd and start watching - preferably from under the duvet. Take it easy if you can and get dh running around for you!! We are all sending you loads of baby dust.

Cyot - Think that all our bodies respond differently so don't be too downbeat that they have had to flex your schedule slightly. It really is par for the course. Hope that the higher dose does its job. Things can change quite quickly it seems. And the good news is that you do not have long before you are back in for more scans etc

So big day tomorrow for me & dh. My tummy is so huge that I am sure that there must be quite a lot of large follies in there!!!! Let's hope that some are full of magic eggs and that dh can perform under pressure!!!! I am a real mix of both excitement and nerves. God knows what I will be like by tomorrow morning -pity dh as sure that I will bite his head off. Good news is that we have to be at hospital for 7am so not so much time to sit around & think about it. If I was a betting lady then my guess would be lots of follies but total freeze and then wait job as too much risk of OHSS based on brief call yesterday. Not getting my hopes up for ET so just one step at a time.

Love and best wishes to everyone else. Will log on tomorrow if I get home & my husband permits.

Carolyn- Good luck tomorrow. Its good your appt. is early- it'll be a get up and go morning. I wish you lots of BIG follies. I'll be keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you tomorrow. Sending you +VE vibes!
Yep I surely need help with the other smileys!

Cyot-It is disappointing- but it is for the best possible results. I'm glad to see that you're still going strong. Glad also that you got the info about the meds.

When I spoke to my Dr. this morning it made me feel better that everything was OK.Its a busy clinic and everytime I go there is a different nurse or resident dr.

Lucybucythat's cool about your nick names. I'm interested in the book by Aita West=I'm going to look into it. Good luck starting stimmies!

Have a good night ladies!

Hi everyone

totally messed up my first menopur this morning. the hospital gave me new syringes and they are sort of automatic so they suck up and expel when they feel like it! had zero control and most of it went all over the bathroom! last time i had the Gonal-F pen auto injector thing so this is new to me.

anyway, have decided not to worry as about half of it went into me and it's only the first day. will go back to my normal syringes i've been using for Buserelin cos i least i can control them!

hope everyone is doing ok today.

just spoke to a friend who works in the nhs and she said that the syringes aren't pressurised but the vials with the powder in create a vacuum so i'd have the same prob with the usual syringes. she said the trick is to expel all the air before going into each vial.

anyone else got any tips?

Hello Girls

This will be a quick post as i am under supervision by my dh and he seems to think that I should be lying down and sleeping to recover.

Well news from me. EC went well. I was quite nervous due to the number of follies but the sedatives knocked me right out so knew nothing until they moved me off the table and onto the bed. Obvious first question - how many? When they told me that they were still counting I was just grinning. Well they got 13 eggs from me. Image Got to be very happy with that. Makes the huge tummy seem worthwhile. dh did his bit. Image So now we just have to wait and see.

They said I was borderline for Friday or complete freeze. So they said to work on basis that I could go back on Friday but that if I had any of the symptoms of OHSS then they would have to freeze all instead. So based on advice from all of you am piling through water, milk and sports drinks. Am in quite a lot of pain but given the numbers I am not surprised and certainly not complaining.

My clinic does not give a fert report tomorrow. Just have to keep our fingers crossed and go back on Friday at 10am to see what has happened. Anyway what is 36 hours of waiting for all of us on this journey!

Anyway feel that my efforts so far have not been in vain. And also that my dh has a better view now of what we are all going through to try to have a baby. Almost all my other trips for scans/bloods etc I have just gone on my own.

Sorry that this is just a 'me' post. I am sending postive vibes to everyone else. Natalie- your story with the injection made me laugh. I spilled a couple of drops of my trigger shot on the bedroom carpet and had a total overreaction. Think that I thought that the eggs would grow in the carpet instead! Sorry - cannot help you with the vials and powder - not what I have done.

Will update the list for my ET on basis that I do get to do on Friday. I am chanting - I will be well enough.

Thanks so much for all the supporrt. Was telling dh about the boards/messages whilst we were waiting & he said thank the girls from me as they sound like they are way more helpful than me. Image

Great to hear it all went well Carolyn - I have been checking the board from time to time today to see how you were. Now get drinking!!

Welcome to all the newbies. This is the best site I have found for support - if you post a message, you actually get responses!

I am off for my first scan tomorrow (Wendy too) since starting down regging. I have had AF for the last 11 days (just spotting for the last 5 days) though, so I am keen to find out what my RE makes of it. Does anyone know if you can start stimming during AF?

Good day ladies!

Congrats Carolyn!!!!!!! Woohoo 13!
Sounds like the retrieval went well. Take good care of yourself and rest- maybe the big day will be on Friday! Keeping my fingers crossed for lots of good embies.

Natalie-I'm not familiar with the type of needle you are talking about. I have used the Buserelin needle and vial(it says insulin syringe on them) and the Gonal Pen.You might get help from the drug manufacturer if you call them. Good luck with your next injection!

Welcome to the board Em! You'll see the support is great here!

Well, I'm still feeling tired (I yawn all day long) and I could swear it feels like there is bubbling going on in my belly because it aches. I hope its all the follies working hard to develop! This may sound odd- but has anyone experienced CM on Gonal?

Hello Ladies,

First of all Congratulations Carolyn on your EC - fantastic numbers! Fingers crossed that you get to transfer your embies on Friday.

Sofia - I'm also wondering the same as I too am still spotting after starting AF on 17 April! All I know is that the hospital told me to still attend for my baseline scan as planned even if I was still bleeding. Just hope I can get started on the stimms as I've had a headache since Friday and I'm getting impatient  Good Luck for tomorrow!

Natalie - I too will be injecting with Menopur. I wonder if the hospital will give me different syringes too? If so, I'll be sure to ask for tips on injecting following your mishap today. Hope the rest of the injections go more smoothly :)

Well that's all for now as I need to make dinner for DH - he works 12 hour shifts!

Will post tomorrow following my scan.

Love
