30 something w/ 40 something eggs: mean RE or keep trying?

My DH and I went through 1 cancelled IVF and 2 IVFs with ICSI. It has been really frustrating and I hope someone can help us with some answers............

At pre-screening we were told that I am a good candidate since I am 34, healthy, with all the proper FSH and estrodial levels. Our first cycle was cancelled because I only had 4 follicles. The last two cycles I had 9 and 13 eggs. To our frustration, both times we only had 4 eggs mature enough to be fertilized. The last one we had a 10 cell embie at Day 3 and a BFN. This time we have one 4-cell and two 2-cell embies. We just put all of them back in me to just see what happens.

The RE told us the problem is with my eggs. Although I am 34, my eggs look like they are 40 somthing which give us a low success rate (1%). She recommended donor eggs. I guess what she is saying is true according to all the info on the net. I am at the 2ww but it's hard to stay positive............

Is there any basis for your RE's comment? The problem must be identified to find the solution.
With the advancement of technology, there are now many methods to assist inplantation. If the outer layer of the fertilized embryo is too thick due to the age of the mother, "assisted hatching" can help. My friend has succeeded in the 4th IVF with assisted hatching.
I am also in my 2ww.

hi trailblazer i agre with sasa i've been told at my clinic that laser assisted hatching will improve chances for me and also 34 - told that as you age egg coating can become think and then its hard for hatching out which is needed for implantaion. my clinic has a 36% sucess rate for my age range 30-35 which is fantastic. on first cycle myself EC on 8/5/06 - good luck keep your chin up heres hoping a BFP coming your way.
