Cancelation of IUI

Post by NickiMark »

I am using Clomid on my next IUI (after having 3 BFN with natural IUI)
But the nurse told me today that if 3 or more follies are produced then it will be cancelled....
Yikes!!!

I dont understand why???

She just said it because of risk of multiple birth, but hey I really wouldnt mind so why???
She said it as the clinics protacol.....

Last time on natural IUI I only had 1 follicle that was dominate at 18-20mm the others were there but tiny and never amounted to anything, so I am hopig for more to increase chances but I feel sad that it could be canc, because of this reason......

Too be honest I am scared of doing another IUI, not because of the tmt itself but the fear of it not working.....
TTC 6yrs......Have jumped off the rollercoaster for now, too many BFN's and too much heartache, to keep going....Moving on to fulfil other dreams!!!

Hi nicki,

I have been told that mine will be cancelled if they find 4 or more follicles tomorrow on my US. It is because of the risk of multiple births, like your nurse said. In Oz, there has been a big crack-down on using too many eggs as the health risks to both the mother and the babies is enormous.

I can understand how you feel, but I work with a girl who is pregnant with twins after an IUI and she is so ill. She looks and feels terrible and has a lot of decisions (that new mothers take for granted) made for her by the Dr's - like has to have a Caeser, etc. She knows I'm going through this as well and said that if she had her time again, she would try to avoid a multiple preg.

Its all a big pile of poo, isn't it?
Wishing you luck,
Em

Hello,
It is scary when they tell you up front all the negatives especially when your confidence is low to begin with. Try and believe that it will work as to not worry the entire time. Best of luck.

nick cant they just take out the 1 and go from there.
also it is good news that you got 3 that means the clomid worked right ?
