Hi My name is Nikki (26), my partner and I have been trying for a baby for the past 18 months, we went to see a Fertility specialist because, my partner had a vasectomy eight years ago and had it reversed 2 years ago and nothing appeared to be happening. I am currently recovering from a Laparoscopy, they went in to check everything was ok and fortunately for me everyhing was. My partner has been diagnosed with a Severe low sperm count, and we are just waiting for our next appointment with the fertility specialist for what steps we need to take next, we are more than sure that he will direct us through the IVF channels. I am very nervous!, hate needles and things like that. Like to here from anyone - Take care

Welcome to the site.

Like you I am also a bit of a needle phobic. Was really worried about injecting but used an auto injector so you dont see the needle go in. I ended up being more nervous about loading syringe etc. was worried I would waste the drugs which would not have been good because I was injecting Purogen at £55 a shot!!
What worked for me was for hubby to get up early(good plan!) and set up the auto syringe & all I had to do was to get up & inject. Hey Presto.
I did learn how to do it myself too which was just as well as sunday mornings was down to me!! (hubby usually had a hangover!!)

Good luck with your treatment & just keep telling yourself why you are doing it, think of getting pregnant & the needle will seem insignificent in the big picture!!

Hope this helps
Sarah
xx

Hi Nikki
Welcome to the site,we've just had our first IVF and this site was a god send.

You will get used to the needles I found it easier if hubby injected me we had to inject Suprecur which was a needle and Puregon which was put into a pen this didnt sting as much the needle,it was'nt painful it just stung,We had needle training before treatment started so felt prepared.

We are planning on starting FET in Oct as we had 6 fertiz embryos frozen, they do fet without drugs,so it works out cheaper than IVF and no needles!.

Good luck with your treatment

Love Gem x

hi there
JUst to say that the needles are a doddle
Infact physically I really found the whole thing v easy really. HOWEVER be prepared for the mental side- its a f***ing rollercoaster. Just dont expect too much of yourself and try to be realistic about your chnaces of it actually working first time . Sounds a bit gloomy but I wish I had set myself up for it not to work a bit better than I did!

Anyway - we have severe MF too and I guess will be trying for 2nd ICSI in New Year.

What is you dh sperm count? Remember even if hes got NONE in his ejacualte they can get them out of his testicles with a needle ( not as big a deal as it sounds). As long as they get a couple of healthy ones , its all they need for ICSI

We have NO sperm and had to use this method (TESE). We eventually got 3 good embryos - which we pretty amazing really - sadly none stayed with me tho.

Take care - keep in touch

Cazxx
