Hi everyone,
Transfer went pretty well today. ALL 3 embies survived the thaw! 1 of them is hatched and the other 2 are blasts with 1 having a bit of fragmentation but still "viable" and the other excellent. He had a bit of trouble getting the catheter into my uterus. My os is tight and it caused alot of severe cramps so he had to stop and wait awhile til they stopped and then was able to transfer with no issues. So now the wait.
Bev,
We went thrugh exactly the same thing with our donor cycle with fear of booking flights for a cross country 7 hour flight. We got the insurance so that if we had to change dates or cancel we could.
Debra,
Glad you have 1 good embie. Best of luck tomorrow. Now the wait. When do you test? My first HCG is Thursday the 11th.

HUgs,
Lisa

Hello Ladies!

Post by teachertam »

Hello all!

I've been busy with the end of the semester grades plus my adoption paperwork. This adoption paperwork is killing me. It seems like I will never finish.

Lisa: So glad to hear your good news. I'm glad all embies survived the thaw. Good luck! Any news on your foster baby?

Debra: Good luck with you and your embie. It only takes one good one.
I transferred five to no avail. My friend had one mature follicle and she is due in a couple of weeks.

Bev: Good luck on your upcoming donor cycle. You donor is a spring chicken and should have good eggs.

Anna: When is your next appointment?

Regards,
Tammy

Blastocyst transfer

Post by children »

Hi Lisa,

I am very glad to hear your good news. The survival rate of your embies are impressive and that is certainly a very good sign! Plus, blastotransfer generally have a higher rate of implantation as I was told. I keep my fingers crossed and hope the two weeks of waiting flying by!

Lisa, I'll test 2 weeks today (17th) if no AF by then. I'm not using pessaries so could AF will show up ca. 17th too. Ironic, last 17th of May I was one day out of hospital after the ectopic. It's easy to remember as 17th May is the biggest day of the year in Norway - think July 4th. Massive celebrations, street parades, everyone dresses up etc. as it's the national day and the country has only been independent for 101 years so they take it very seriously!

ET went well, like it always does. The embie was still 4 cells. We'll see.

Good luck to everyone else.

Debra,
Glad to hear your transfer went well. I've had alot of cramping and sharp pains today which I get every time......they have suspected in the past that it's caused by implantation. I'm optimistic of another positive but as you know....I never STAY pregnant. I just don't want to get too excited and then fall so hard again. This is it for us.
No word yet on a foster baby.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Good friends not currently seeking tmt:

Debra and Lisa, sending you babydust in a huge bucket. Good luck with your 2ww. Everything crossed for those BFP's!

Tammy, when is your apptmt? Hope the paperwork is getting easier!

Gail, I hope you are OK. The egg donor tmt is something to get your head around, I know. If any help... my clinic in UK gave me my medical notes without batting an eyelid. I think under current legislation you are entitled to a copy, especially if you are undergoing further tmt. The clinic in Barcelona couldn't have been more helpful. They are very professional without being patronising. There was a great sense of optimism about the whole process. Good luck.

We got back from Barcelona last night. The IM building is very impressive. We met with our consultant, Monica, who was lovely. She read all my notes from QM and seemed to get a handle on our situation very quickly. She explained everything to us and listened to my huge long list of questions! Dp gave a sperm sample, which was scrutinised and has now been frozen ready for when we need it. I had a scan and a mock ET to see if all was well. We had our pictures taken and all our physical characteristics were noted, eg eyes, hair, height and weight etc...They will now try to match us with a donor. The donors are usually university students, we will know very little about her. We are now waiting for AF (due in @ 20days), then I start bc pills to synchronise my cycle with the donor's. Phew..all a bit surreal. Just need AF to behave and arrive on time

PS Kat, Victoria Walker wasn't at IM...she is on maternity leave!

Bev, How are you? Has AF arrived? When is she due? Where will you have your scans done in UK? I know how you feel about being far away from the clinic. I would say just keep on emailing them, I'm sure they are used to it as many overseas patients go to them. Have you tried lastminute.com for flights and hotels? They had some great deals for Barcelona. I think the protocols in Kiev are pretty similiar to those at IM, so I will be booking flights soon too!

PMA to all here
Keep smiling :)
Bye for now
Anna x

Anna:

I'm so glad to hear that everything is going well with your next cycle.
Come on AF!!

I have not yet scheduled my post IVF conference, as this week is final
exam week for us and I'm scrambling to get grades posted, etc.
I will try to schedule it next week, as I have to go back to get my fingerprints taken, since they were rejected the first time :( .

We still have 4 frozen eggs and do not know what to do with them.
We could go for the thaw, have them fertilized and see if we have any
embies to transfer. I just don't know if I can do it again.

Debra and Lisa:

Fingers are crossed for both of you. We need some BFP's!!!!

Hi Girls,

It is a very long time since I posted here but I just wanted to send a message to Debra P and Caroline P and Randa who were so supportive last year when I had two IVF cycles which both failed.

In Jan went for my review at the Lister in London but as I had turned 45 last November I knew it would be the DE speech. They were very supportive and said either DE or keep trying for your own miracle. Well one week later I got my first every natural BFP but it only stayed a few days and disappeared.

My DH and I contacted the clinic in South Africa (as we are both blone and blue eyed it was suggested as the best one for us) and got all the info. We decided as I had had my first ever BFP that we would give it 3 months and if nothing happened we would go to SA.

Well on March 28th at 11 DPO I got another BFP :D  and I am currently almost 9 weeks PREGNANT with our own little miracle!! I keep praying it will stick as we won;t know if it is ok until 12 week scan.

Caroline - congrats on the birth of your daughter - you must be over the moon :D

What I did for the record: Took chinese herbs (vile) for 4 months, acupuncture twice a month for 6 months, yoga and pilates 3 times a week, charted my temps, took Robitussin around O, used PreSeed around O and had a very willing DH :D

SO here I am aged 45 and a half on my first pregnancy!! :D :) :D

Love to all,
Nuala

Hi Nuala, we haven't "met" before but a huge congrats to you on your BFP. How fantastic is that? Wishing you loads of luck over the coming weeks/months.

Tammy, hope you manage to get your "prints" sorted out. Were the last ones not very clear? If I were you, if you can muster up the courage, I would go for the thaw and see what happens. You never know, maybe, just maybe.......! If you don't try, you will never know and could ask yourself "What if?". Good luck with your decisions, never easy, I know.x

Hey Anna, good to hear from you, and in such high spirits! Sounds like you had a very positive flying visit. I hope your AF plays ball. I am expecting mine to arrrive in about 9 days or so. Then if all goes according to plan I should be having my next scan in about 12 days to see what endo is up to. I think I am going to go to Proscan (where I went over the Easter weekend) because they were very thorough and didn't huff and puff at the fact that I was going abroad. I wonder if the UK clinics have had their noses put out of joint. There seems to be a bit of controversy at the moment labelling us "fertility tourists". What a load of b....cks!!! If this country could supply us with what we need, we just wouldn't even think of travelling to Europe for tmt!!! Thanks for the tip on the lastminute.com site. Will check them out. Take care of yourself, I am very excited for you and DP.x
