fetal heartrate

Post by jen32 »

Does anyone know if a fetal heart rate of 178 at 9 wks is too high? At 7wks it was 132 and everything I have read says 150-160 is normal. The doc didn't seem concerned but 178 seems very high to me. Anyone know their baby's heartrates?? Jen32

I had my scan at 7 weeks and the heartrate was 140 or right around there. The next scan was at 11 weeks and was 160. I think you're okay - the heart rate is high early on and then slows a bit at around 10 or 11 weeks. I was a madwoman at that time searching the internet for averages etc. I think your heart rate is good and strong - I've heard of friends who've had heart rates exactly where you are.

My pumpkin's hb's were 174 at 11.5 weeks, 152 at 13 wks, and 142 at 17 wks. I was concerned with the 174 but doc said 120-180 was normal and not to worry. I wonder if my "state of stress" had anything to do with it? It was at the 11.5 wk appt that we found out that we lost one of our twins and I was an emotional wreck. I've been more relaxed at each subsequent appointment.

Hope this helps.

Jenn,

The babies heart rate in going to fluctuate until about 12 weeks when it should level out....so you are fine usually if the baby is very active at that moment, their heart rate will shoot up, but if they checked it again in 20 minutes it might come down to 150 - so yes that is normal...

Thanks so much for your replies, that makes me feel a lot better!! Baby was wiggling around at that time, so maybe that explains it.
