Hi, I'm new to the group and will be having egg retrieval this Friday 5/12. I had my first child through shots and insemination, and have 8 unsuccessful inseminations since. This will be our first IVF cycle. We are doing the ICSI due to my husbands sperm, but we are also having the assisted egg hatching. I was curious who has had that done and how successful it was? I'm really nervous about how many eggs are going to be viable. I thought for sure I would have more eggs than I do (probably about 10 at the most) as I am really sensitive to the medications. Is there anyone else going through it right now???

First i would like to wish you luck for your retrieval on friday, 10 is a good number of eggs and hopefully all will be fertilized without any fragmentations. The assisted hatching is said to help with the implantaion process. Some have a hard shell lining that is sometimes diffiuclt to break out of and thats where the assisted hatching comes in, i believe this will be benefial to you. I wish you good luck!

Good luck also. How many eggs do you have? I'm pretty nervous about the quality of my eggs since this is my first. I'm 34, so not supposed to be too bad, but have heard about having empty eggs and I'm really hoping to have some to freeze as I'm not sure how many of these I will be able to afford. Keep me posted.

I think my transfer will be 5/15 as they told me they shoot for 3 days, but all depends on how the emybryo's look, they could go for 5 days. Are you to be on bedrest afterwards? And for how long? Our place told me 2 days, but I think I am going to extend it to 4 days as best as I can. Luckily I have my mom to watch my 3 year old during the day, otherwise dont' know how I would accomplish that. Good luck tomorrow. Let me know how the retrieval goes.

Glad everything went well. Mine day did not go so well. They first told me they got 5 eggs. But then called me later and said the eggs were really bad quality and only 2 had a possibiity of a chance. He said even if they do fertilize, that the chances of getting pregnant were not good. I think he was trying to talk us out of going through with the ICSI and getting some money back, but DH wanted to go through with it. I'm pretty down in the dumps right now. I'm only 34 so don't know why my eggs are so bad. I'm sure you'll get better news tomorrow. Keep me posted.

the result that you deserved, but keep positive!!
I got a call today with my report,out of the 13 follicles collected, 9 have fertilised.
Me and my DH are really happy, especialy since we weren't even sure we would get this far...my chanses were 5% bcoz having high FSH, my ege and poor sperm.
It look like my transfer will be the same day as yours 5/15.

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. Found out today, that the 2 eggs fertilized but only one made it, so we are still doing the transfer tomorrow. I don't know what quality it is, think it's probably not the best, but the nurse said he wouldn't transfer if there wasn't a chance. So, keep us in your prayers, and I'll be praying that everything goes well for you. I'm going to do the whole pretty strict bedrest thing for at least 3 days, then going to take it easy the 4th day. Keep me posted.

I'm oficially on my 2 ww . The ET went well. They transferred 4 embryos,
2- 8cell, 1- 7cell and 1- 5cell with same fragmentation.
We were so exacited!! My test will be on 5/26 seem like eternity.
I am going back to the couch and put my feet up and let those littles ones
get nice & comfi.

Well, we ended having the 2 embryo's to transfer (misunderstood the Dr's message about only having one). So, we had 1-8cell and 1-4cell. Not a lot, but the 8cell is much better than we were expecting. Have pretty much been on bedrest until today but still taking it easy. I test on May 25 and 27th. It's going to be a long wait!!!
Keep us posted Sara how things are going. Does anyone know how soon the embryo can implant???
