hey there everyone,
hope you are all well and coping with it all. I am also glad to read that a few of you are also doing the acupuncture. If anything it is an hour each week of relaxing with someone who has supported lots of other women through the process and so she also reassures me about what is happening. I am completely exhausted from the downregulation but no other symptoms so far. Are the rest of you THIS tired? I am taking my first sickie in years today (although I am in my office I didn't go on the team building day, instead I am catching up on work and getting ready for the rest of the week!). My dh is also away alot so I know what some of you are going through, keep posting and let us know how you are

lots of love
a sleepy kristin!

hi all,
How are you ladies coping up with?I am actively starting my lupron injection from today.Tdy. MN i had my basal USG,which went on well. I am happy to see my ovaries are back to normal from my previous cycle. No residual effect.
Tdy AN I also had my first Acupuncture session over. My acupuncturist is kind enough to listen to me,my stress making situations and advised me how to deal with them. Then started the needling and relaxation with soft music background.I am sure the music smoothes our mind a lot.I can try even at home relaxing myself,I guess. My next apt. will be around the time i start my stimulation drug.
Well, with Lupron from my previous cycle,I had adverse effects like hot flushes. But Kristin,it can also make you tired.I told my hubby this is how it would be if i attained menopause. My left knee started aching,as if I have OA.HAAHAA.
Well buddies,i saw many friends test results were on due today. Some may be very happy to see their results Positive but some might have faced the worst end.Congrats for those who have succeded and good luck for those whose results were neg.For everything time has to come.I believe in this strongly. So dont give up.May GOD bless everyone of us in this forum ALWAYS!!
Luv,

Well... it's hello and good-bye for me again...
It's the 4th month in a row that this happens to us... we try to organize everything, get the medication, change our schedule, get the tests done, get our spirits up... and then something happens and we just can't get started!...
This time it was my FSH... it decided to climb up to 14.7! I was very surprised (so was the doc), as for the past 1,5 year I've had results within the range of 2-9. Looks like one more hill has been added to our rollercoaster!
I don't need to tell you that yesterday was not a very good day for me... fortunately, today I feel much better. This afternoon I am leaving on a business trip, which will end as a romantic weekend in Paris with dh... so I do have something nice to look forward to... (in the near future I mean!).
Ahhh... I am sorry to leave this thread... I was just getting to know everyone! I will be reading your news, though...
I daren't say "if we are lucky, we may get started in June..." I prefer not to think about it!!! (I've jinxed myself enough as it is)
So best of luck to all of you... and as a reminder, please keep feeling grateful even for being able to make an effort...

Day 4 of Stims--are the numbers decent?

Post by Kerri »

Hello to everyone---we have such a great group this time around!! Regarding all the comments about acupuncture, I did start this my first round of IVF in Feb/March and thoroughly enjoyed the treatments. I found it utterly calming. Unfortunately I haven't gone back after my 1st cycle was canceled but not because it was ineffective. My insurance does not cover these treatments so the expense of 2x/week coupled with IVF added up. I may resume again once things settle down.

I did have a monitoring appointment this morning---DAY 4 of stims (Follistim and Menopur). They only found 7 follicles so far and after reading other replies of 10, 12 and 14 follicles, I'm starting to get a little worried. They said my lining looked good and should continue to thicken. I asked DR if this was ok and she said it was fine at this stage and they expect more to grow in the next couple of days. I go back on DAY 6 for more monitoring and await med instructions for this evening. My guess is they will stop Microdose Lupron but who knows. I know it's not about quantity but quality but my last cycle (1st) was canceled due to the numbers and how quickly the developed so I'm fearing the same.

If anyone has been through other cycles at this stage and can shed some light on what this means, I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks so much for your support and help----going through this cycle with all of you makes a world of difference!!!

Best to all!!

Hello Ladies,

I hope everyone is doing well, i was enthusiastic to learn of a may/june thread. I hope i can join you wonderful ladies for the ride of IVF. I started the lupron injections on saturday and start the menopur next wednesday the 24th!

This being my second time around on IVF seems a bit less worriesome with the meidcation because it can become all too confusing.

Yesterday was mothers day in the us and we were gathered at my in laws to celebrate the special day. I had high hopes for the day while it turned out to be such a dreaded evening. For obvious reasons all of the toasts were made to the mothers. there were 6 women on the table and 5 were mothers and i was the thorn that stuck out so bad. everytime a toast was made everyone would look at me to catch a reaction, and i would just stay quiet and listen and smile. eventually all the comments about my fertility started coming up, comments like, " oh hopefully next year this time you will be a mother as well" " oh we hope you have a child soon" and then the best comes along....."so why arent you guys having children yet?" "its definitly time you know, you guys are getting older and older" " Children are miracles blah blah blah blah blah blah blah...i think i just zoned out and my poor husband knew i was about to fall apart! It was a mad house.
Sorry if it was too much i think i had to vent about it.
I hope you ladies had a better night then i did.

Best Wishes,
Vita

Dear All

good to see the new team members! I hope you are all doing well. Vita I really know what it feels like to constantly have comments about having kids! It drives me mad, 15 friends are pregnant or have just had kids around me and I have just become an aunt for the first time and the whole world thinks they are being helpful by telling me that I should forget my work and think about having kids etc... Anyway, I am so sure I have made similar thoughtless comments in the past and so it is such a lesson in minding my own business!!!!

Mafalda I was sorry to read about your FSH level and hope you manage the wait for the next cycle. I found the waiting to start really tough. Starting was almost a relief! And welcome Leanne, 6th timer! Fingers very tightly crossed for you.

I had my blood test today and find out tomorrow if I can start stimming on Thursday for a possible EC week beginning May 29th. How is the stimming going for those of you at this stage? Any tips on how to inject.. I have never done that before and feel rather queasy at the thought of it!!

lots of love to you all
best wishes

Day # 6 Stimming with a call from Doc

Post by Kerri »

You'll be fine with the shots, Kristin. Trust me, going into it scared the living daylights out of me but after the first few injections, it became less daunting. You can always ice the spot beforehand to ease any pain although I've only found one (menopur) that's bothersome. Also make sure you let refridgerated meds become room temp before injecting--less noticeable.

I had my monitoring today with 10 follicles, some close to 10 mm but not as many as they'd like. My doctor called (so far her calls have always meant bad news) so my heart dropped when I saw her number. She said I'm progressing and we could potentially make it to egg retrieval next week however she needs to closely monitor how much these follies do grow. She's disappointed in my ovary's response because at age 35 I should producing many more and larger follicles at this stage. She also has me on the max dosage amount. Of course after canceling my first cycle I'm a bit upset and scared the same will happen. She says they are "greedy" and want to go into this with many eggs (aka possibilities). It's obvious my Ovaries are not up to par so I don't understand why they can't just take a chance and try to retrieve with a smaller amount of follicles. I don't know what minimum they're looking for but my guess is 7-10. Does this sound totally unrealistic? I'd love to hear from others on this experience.

Thank you and happy thoughts to you all this week!

Thanks for the welcome x

Kristin, don't worry about the jabs - I promise you will be fine. When I first had to go through ivf and they showed me the injections I burst out crying and said I couldn't do it. My DH did them for all my first attempt and I only felt the last one - yes good advice to get it out of the fridge early!! Even that isn't too bad. As for my second go DH was away a lot so I had to self inject and the first one I did I was just about to go and catch a plane and knew if I didn't do it there and then I would have to cancel everything - I did it so quick it wasn't until I was on the plane I realised what I had done - the pride I felt was amazing. trust me. Now I prefer to do them rather than DH !!!

Kerri,
If you can get your doctors to retrieve, it is still worth it with 10 eggs. I had only 10 eggs last time and I was sharing so we both only had 5 eggs. It only takes 1 to work!!! Thing to bear in mind though is that as you know, not all follies have eggs. It is worth listening to the experts if they are really concerned.

Hope everybody else is doing well xx I start the jabberdy jabs tomorrow !!

Hello May/June Buddies!!!!

I hope you all are doing well. You know i have noticed that this has been a more quieter thread then other months. How about if everyone posts their dates just to get some excitement!

USP~ The only thing that effects me with Lupron is major headaches like 20 min after injection. The headaches last for about half an hour at a time. I hope you feel better. So do you start your stimms today or next thursday?

Wishing you all goooooooodluck!!!!!!!!!!!!

:) :) :)
