More than 1 NHS IVF?

Post by Mitzy »

Hi all,

I was wondering if it is possible to get more than 1 IVF treatment on the NHS.

Our first atempt in April was -neg, and due to very bad luck, we are now in a position that it would be impossible to fund treatment ourselves.

I feel so fed up, and hate to think that I am now written off!!!

We have used up our NHS IVF, and now I have just turned 40, it looks like thats it for us, I would love to here if there is a postcode thing going on.

Hope to here from some of you lovely ladies soon.

Ilona

Hi Ilona
It will depend entirely on where you live but I had my first cycle free and then on the next cycle they paid for the drugs so that was better than nothing. Because I was a poor responder I could not have got any more money out of them but if I had been more of a 'sure bet' they would have part funded again. Your clinic should know the details for your area.
Why not pop over the the 40+ thread and have a chat to the girls there too
Good luck
Love
Kat xx

I know there used to be a postcode thing going on and luckily we are being funded for 3 cycles, however now i think that the NHS fund 1 cycle and then they re-evaluate from there!, so i would not write it off straight away!

Hi. We are very lucky where our NHS in Aberdeen fund 3 cycles - 2 fresh. The cut off age is 38 so if you reach 38 at treatment you won't get it funded. I think every NHS board have different funding. Good luck with yours. Paula x
