Hi all - had my EC yesterday, all went very well: I was put under general anaesthetic so no pain at all just dizziness and nausea afterwards. I just stayed in bed for the rest of the day and DH looked after me. They got 17 eggs!!! The clinic called today to tell me that 15 have fertilised! They want to wait a few days to see which will mature the best which may mean me going for ET on Saturday or Monday, not sure which yet. I'm now on Cyclogest suppositories - eeeewwwww - why did no one warn me how gross they are?!

Dania - I am so sorry honey but I'm so glad you're staying on the board. Its good that you have your wonderful DH to support you through this.

Cyot - just hang in there, it may not be over yet...

Em - I'm sure the emotions of dealing with IUI are just the same as with IVF, you have every right to feel sad.

Jackoa21 - well done on starting the stimmies, you're well on the way now! Don't forget to rest with a hot water bottle for at least 10 mins a night - your follies will love you for it :)

Sarah - so sorry that you're ill - it's bad enough having that many eggs inside you without being ill too! I hope you're taking good care of yourself and relaxing as much as possible.

Carolyn - how did you get on with your acupuncturist today? I'd be interested to hear how he/she compares with mine. Mine is Chinese which is great except that her English is limited and I want to ask so many questions about acupuncture but she doesn't understand!

Sally - please keep up the PMA! Do you think it's worth asking your dr about your rash? You might be able to get something for it. Thanks for adding me to your msn msgr, I will definitely be needing you!

Vessi - hang in there and be strong, I can't imagine what a nightmare the 2ww must be but I'll soon be there too. Please don't read into things your body is telling you, it's probably all wrong due to the hormones..

Laura - fantastic egg result! We might be ET-ing on the same day too :)

Well I'm going to waddle off to see my GP now - trying and get sign off for at least a week... wish me luck!

I just got a call from the lab. Of the 10 eggs they got yesterday, only 6 were suitable for fertilization. Don't know what as wrong with the other 4. Good news is all 6 eggs fertilized!!!

We had been expecting a 5 day transfer on Monday. But the embryologist said to plan on doing a 3 day transfer, which would be Saturday 5/20. I asked why and he said out of 6 fertilized eggs, chances are only 2 or 3 will grow appropriately. That combined with my age (37) makes a 3 day tranfer a better option.

LucyBucy- Wow, 15 fertlized eggs! That is wonderful!

Thank you everyone for your kind words and support. This board has made going through this process so much easier.

Best wishes!

Hi Jackoa21 - I think heat helps with the follie growth, and also after ET to make the embryos nice and warm and comfy. One of the reasons they recommend acupuncture is because it draws blood to the abdomen, which brings heat with it. Anyway, it feels nice whatever :D

Hi girls

i would double check the heat on the tummy thing. i've always been told that after embryo transfer to not overheat the tummy so no hot baths, no hot shower spray on the tum and obviously no hot water bottle.

then again, my track record is appalling so i've probably been wrong all along and you can feel free to ignore me!

just felt i had to mention it.

i am so sorry to hear your result. please come back to us for support if you want to, we are here for you.

Cyot - sounds promising to me, i don't think they would falsely raise your hopes and a positive is a positive. hope the bleeding stops soon. sending you lots of good vibes to get those numbers to rise.

Luby - I'm so sorry for your BFN, please come back to us when you're ready.

Cyot - keep up the PMA, you've come so far!

Laura - we were told the same thing about our embryos growing properly. We were also told that if we left the embryos to grow until Monday then it would be an extra £300! In the big scheme of things this doesn't seem that much but is this because it would be a blastocyst thingymebob? Clinic will call me later on today to tell me further progress of my 15 babies and whether we transfer on Sat or Mon :D

Natalie/Jackoa21 - I think there is a problem with having a bath or shower that is too hot and also the risk of infection from bath water or bubble bath. I also heard that men should avoid extremely hot baths because of the damage it does to sperm - I don't know if this is true or not though. It would make sense as my DH likes his baths to be 200C  Also, something else I read is that your body heats up naturally during ovulation which encourages the embryo to stick... I guess there are all sorts of thoughts out there (and also some old wives tales), I've just read a lot of Zita West!

PMA vibes to all xxx

Sarahface-best of luck with your scan today. Let us know how you get on. Hope you are feeling ok today.

LucyBucy-wow…15 fertilised…that’s brilliant news Image
So you like the suppositories do you? Image Nice one! Feel free to contact me on the messenger whenever you feel like it hun. How are you feeling today? Remember drinking plenty of water.

LauraLou-good luck for your Transfer tomorrow. Hope those lovely embys make themselves at home for the next 9 month. Good luck.

Jackoa21-good luck with your b/w today. Hope you are doing ok.

Luby-…I am sooooooo sorry for you. Sending you loads of hugs. Remember we are here for you if you need us. You are not alone hun. Take care. Image

Natalie Anne-I was also told no heat after Transfer, no hot bath etc.

CYOT-That’s brilliant news… Image Let’s hope those numbers are raising and it’s a BFP for you. The bleeding is quite common. I know a girl from another board she had full on AF and was pregnant with twins (after ICSI)…she’s now 12 weeks!!! So good luck for tomorrow and let us know how you get on. Do you know what the numbers where?

My rash has cleared up a bit, it’s still visible but not as bad as it was. I had some horrible cramps yesterday but feeling better today, dont think its a good sign though...am expecting AF over weekend to be honest.

Wishing you all a nice day, take care.
