Thanks for the injecting advice. I have to start tonight and as dh is away I have to just go for it but I am putting it off, so I will leave it til I am about to go to sleep.... I also need to travel this weekend, how have people packed their injections- are there little ice boxes etc..? Now I regret never going to Brownies or camping!!!

Great that you are starting to stim aswell today USP. It would be good to track everyone else too and I wish you all lots of luck (and energy)!

Still looking forward to hearing about some BFPs on this thread..... a few weeks to go yet I suppose!

with love

Hi All,

Hope you are all doing well, glad to see some advice on injection, today is my 3rd day of stimms, by 9th day which is 25th of May, will have u/s to check on follicles, not sure why my doctor want to check it on 9th day of stimms, not earlier? At least I will have a chance and time to adjust the meds, I am a little concern……..

Do I should bring it up my concern with doctor? Any advice??

So far I do not have any headache with shots, hopefully will keep this way,

Wish you all best of luck on this journey, was wonderful to see this thread, and share with you all.

Hi there

Lbebe- I am also only scanned for the first time after 9 days and then will know how it is all going so fingers crossed.

USP great to be going at the same time! I did my first injection yesterday and it was fine. I sat on my bed as I was worried that I might faint in the bathroom (all quite embarrassing as I am a doctor!). It was no problem at all and I am not worried about the rest of them so I will not bother dh with them now. Thanks for all the advice and I warmed the 'pen' a bit before. I felt no side effects but it is early days as yet. We are off to germany just for one night so we have bought a massive ice box for the trip! It was all that was in the shop! Oh well!!!

Hope you all have a good and relaxing weekend.
Look forward to finding out how you are doing

Hi May/June Buddies!!!

Hope all's going well for everyone and you've been having a relaxing weekend.
I was on the March thread and it's nice to be back. Just hope I don't have to say goodbye again so soon.

My 1st IVF cycle was abandoned because I didn`t respond to the meds. Then AF didn't arrive and after about 45 days waiting I was prescribed BCP in preparation for the next cycle. I was so anxious to get going but had to wait to start taking BCP and then continue about 30 days because I had to go on a business trip beginning May. I finally started my stim shots - Menogon on a high dosage - on Fr. 12th May. DH is great with the injections and always makes sure he's around to help me out.

My first scan was on Friday (day 8 of stims) and they found only 2 follicles. :( I wasn't expecting much and DH was even pleased, considering the last cycle. But now I'm just fearing the worst. Roll on next Tuesday: my next appointment for monitoring. Hoping for some better news this time. :) Fingers crossed.

Lbebe: Some ladies seem to have scans every few days but I have my first scan on the 10th cycle day. Good luck.

Looking forward to reading all your updates and hope to stay in touch on this thread.

My injecting advice for what it's worth is just 2 things:

Choose a spot which is kind of half way between firm and flabby (if you've got one!) I found that a third of the way round my upper thigh, just between the flabby inner thigh and the more bony front was by far less painful than anywhere else.

Also turn the needle as you push it into the skin and it breaks the skin far more easily (and less painfully).

I didn't bother with ice or anything last time and it was fine. I found the mixing of meds far more traumatic!

Anyway - I'm having a FET on Weds 24th May. I have just 2 frozen embryos over from my first IVF last November. I am 41 years old, we are not having another go if it doesn't work so I am nervous but trying to be serene and accepting of what fate holds.

It's much more straightforward this time through although we had a wobble last week when they thought I wasn't going to ovulate.

The next hurdle is the defrosting of the our embryos. I have to ring tomorrow afternoon to see if they make it. I'll let you know how i get on, please keep things crossed for me.

Hello there all

good to read about how you are doing.

Dear amfy, I really hope they defrost OK for you and am sending you lots of baby dust and good wishes. I am even feeling nervous for you so do let us know how it goes.

USP- I was wondering what they could see on ultrasound so soon in the injecting cycle so that is exciting that there is something there for you. I am getting a bit of a pain on my left side and I wonder if it is something happening but it could well be my overactive imagination. I am feeling much better now that the downreg meds are halved with just one sniff twice a day. I even have some energy and can concentrate again at work. I am getting impatient waiting to find out on Friday how it will all proceed as I have no idea what my plans are after that and for some reason everyone is asking me where I will be and what I am doing next week. I am planning to take most of the week off but if I need the distraction then I will just turn up at work.

hayley- good luck with the FET- will be waiting to hear how it goes for you too! And I know, it is difficult to get the balance right of what to plan to do and what not to do after ET. Would be good to learn from the others who have been through this before.

Sonix- good luck tomorrow with your scan. Hope the two follicles are progressing... you only need one good one after all.....

lots of love to you all

a new May/June buddy

Post by Seattlite »

Hi Ladies,

I am new to the group and feel hungry to discuss my experience and glean from others along my journey. I believe I qualify for a "may/june" buddy. I may be a bit ahead of some of you, as my retrieval was last Thursday, May 18th. My transfer will be a Day 5 transfer, which is tomorrow. Then . . . begins my 2ww. Actually, if I am understanding my docs correctly, I will have a PT on June 2nd. So, the 2ww count began with Day 0 on retrieval day.
This is my first IVF cycle, and I really hope my last - it seems to have gone ok, but i could do without the injections.

I had to do a drug called Repronex - holy cow, that brought me to my knees every night. It was like a wasp sting. What saved me was ICE - i numbed my arm and my DH poked and I was oblivious.

I'm nervous that my little embies are waiting to day 5 for transfer. But, I'm following the rules.

Everything I see and hear seems to be a sign of some sort. I'm trying hard to "go with the flow" but only you ladies know what this is like. It's so hard to not talk about this all the time, yet it is such a private experience.

AHHHHHHH!!!

wish me luck tomorrow.....please

I am sending all the good baby thoughts your ways!

Welcome Seattlite,

Good luck with your ET tomorrow, my doc told me that Day 5 transfer is the best  , do u know how may they are going to transfer?

i am on the day 6 stimm, i took all the advice from the ladies here regarding the shots, it is not as bad as i thought, but i felt i really running out of spot for my shot soon since i have to take 5 shots a day, still have 30 more or less to go, my poor belly just can't handle it any more....

This Thursday will find out how many follies, this is my first IVF cycle and I do hope this is it...

Good luck to all, good to hear from everyone

Hi to all!

Amfy - hope defrosting went well for you. Sending you good wishes for the FET and hope you’ll soon be resting at home and being pampered.

Seattlite – Sounds like all has been going well so far. Good luck on your 2WW!

Hayley – not long til your FET date now. Having time off work or not after ET is a difficult question. Work is great for distracting your thoughts but if you can’t influence the stress factor then I suppose it’s better to take a good break. My present cycle has ended up coinciding with an 8 day holiday break I planned a while ago which is good because I don’t have to explain why I suddenly need a few days off work. On the other hand I’m getting asked by everyone where we are going on holiday. I’ve being saying “to Italy” because that was what we had planned but I don’t know what I’m going to say when they ask me about my holiday when I get back. “Oh, just decided to hang around at home instead” :?

Kristin – thanks for your encouragement.
The good news is that I’ll be getting to EC this time – scheduled for Friday. The bad news is that there really are only 2 follicles. If it wasn’t for my age, the fact that the 1st cycle had to be cancelled the doctor would have advised to abandon again. So I’ve been gleaming the posts for any signs of positive news in similar cases. It’s so difficult to keep positive and hopeful and try and stay realistic at the same time. It’s like wishing for a miracle.
Keep your fingers crossed for me…

Take care everyone! :)

Hello there everyone

Hope you are all well. I am half way through the stims now and so far I feel just great- I think it is because all the hot flushes have stopped- I hope it is all still working. What symptoms are the rest of you getting on the stims?

Welcome Seattlite and good luck with the 2ww. Lbebe- 5 shots a day has humbled me and now I will never complain about the meagre one a day I am having. Son, enjoy 'Italy' - we are also planning to go there this weekend but it all depends on the scan on Friday morning so I have no idea what to say to people if we don't go... I think I will just blame it on dh's work as he has quite an unpredictable schedule which I can finally use to our advantage! USP how is it going? I have no more acupuncture planned until the EC/ET time. I went for an ayurvedic massage today and have been going each week and it has really helped me calm down. I never ususally do any sort of pampering and so going each week for an hour of acupuncture and an hours massage has just changed the tempo of everything and really helped I think. But I do feel like a first-timer with all of this and doubt I will have the energy to organise all of this again if I have further cycles! We met a lady at the weekend who had twin girls her first cycle and I have just heard from another friend who is now 7 months preggers after her 7th cycle- so who knows what is ahead!!!!

I thought I would try and track all our dates so forgive me if I get them wrong or miss someone out- do let me know and anyone feel free to update (especially as I cannot work out how to use any of the graphics, change colours or place smilies and so it all looks rather bland like this!):

Kerri: Stims started 11th May

Seattlite: EC 18th May; PT begining of June

Leanne: downreg 18th May

Lbebe: Stims started 18th May

USP: Stims started 19th May

Kristin: Stims started 19th May

Vita: Stims start 24th May (I think)

Amfy: ET 24th May

Kdc2006: EC 25th May

Sonix: EC 26th May

Jess: Stims start 27th May

Hayley: ET 6th June

Lots of love to everyone
