You're six days ahead of me

Post by Seattlite »

Well, I too am diving into IVF for the first time. This is my first posting. Like many of you, I have found myself hungry to hear of other's experiences - especially the positive!

I had my egg retrieval on Thursday, May 18th. They retrieved 18 eggs - I was very surprised - I'm 39, soon to be 40. Fourteen of the eggs were mature and they fertilized all of them through ICSI. Tomorrow morning I will get the call with transfer dates and quality. I'm totally freaked out about so many things; first it was the injections, then it was the follicle production, then egg retrieval, and then and then. . . I'm sure you all understand.

I'm trying so hard not to let my brain fast forward into worrying about staying pregnant, healthy children . . etc. etc. . . I suppose if I am lucky enough and this does work, it is just the beginning of parenthood.

I coupled my IVF cycle with acupuncture. I really think it helped quite a bit. There is nothing but positive information on this. I would recommend it to anyone!

keeping my fingers crossed for you K-rose. Best of luck. . . you are in my thoughts!

Hi Sara,
I know this week is going to drag on. I worked today and also work Wednesday and Thursday athis week and it was very hard to concentrate. I'm also having problems with the progesterone shots making my muscle so sore, it's hard to move much. I kind of started to feel like I'm going to get my period soon. Of course I'm evaluating every little feeling I have. Hope that's not it. Not sure if it's too soon or not???

Take care,
Kelly

Hi Kelly,
Tray to be positive, I know is hard to concentrate in something diferent that the Beta. About the progesterone shots, let me give you same advice; 1/2 H before put your progesterone vial between yours breast to keeped worm. And after injected, massage the area deeply for 3 o 5 minutes. I't Work!!

Take care!

Post by kelleyg »

heres what my problem was last time... i lucked out the first time i had
no cramps no real mood swings till the end but i did have nausea nausea and more nausea along with after about a week of prog shots very sore buttocks and bruised couldnt figure it out according to the ivf nurse/and ob i guess when you take a warm shower you are opening up the vessels which i would think would be good but apparently add to your bruising and soreness...and lord was i sore i had tried shifting injection sites but bruised there too...i dont know if that helps ...but that was my experience shower before..lololol----

That's wierd because the IVF nurse told me to put a heating pad on the area right after the shot. I would think that would do the same thing as a warm shower. Hmmm, I'll have to rethink the heating pad. Thanks for the info.

Jackoa,
Same thing happened to me, and they told me the quality was bad. But we went a head with it and ended up with an 8-cll and 4-cell and able to transfer both, so continue to think positive. I'll be praying that your able to use them.

well here we are.. They ended up getting one to fertilize.. I do not know the cell count and wont know it until Saturday (day of transfer) the doctor does not seem very positive about only having one.. Do you ladies think this is a waste of time and money to do the one only?
