Just wanted to say hello! I too have the same question. I will start my first FET cycle whenever AF shows up which should be next week sometime. My cycle will be a medicated cycle. Hopefully this will be the one, we have 3 frozen and will use all 3 if they all survive!

Hope we get some feedback.

Good luck to you!!!

Hey!!

I had a medicated FET cycle done last July/Aug and right now I am sitting at the computer rocking Jack ( he is 4 weeks old today!!) I am very grateful for the FET- our first IVF failed- we transfered 4 embies and hit the "Jackpot" with Jack!!!

I would really recommend getting your hormone levels checked- the estrogen and progesterone- I had trouble with this- my estorgen levels were not high enough about 1 week and 1/2 prior to them wanting to do the implantation and I had to add pills along with the patches.. The progesterone levels were also very low- I was on the shots probably to about week 18 or 19 give or take a few days... my levels stayed around the 21 to 31 mark( should have been in the 100's)

Good luck to ya'll. The shots will fade into oblivion and you won't remember them at all !!!!

Love,
Jodi!

FET

Post by bsbulldog »

I just had my first FET on Monday the 15th. I now am in the dreadful 2ww. I have had two fresh IVF cycles, the first I had a +ive but miscarried after 13 weeks. My second cycle was in March and we received a -ive. We only had one embie left, which is what we transferred on Monday. I am hoping and praying this time we have a happy ending. Is anyone else out there that has been sucessful FET after failed fresh cycles? I am looking for some uplifting stories to keep me postive through the 2ww. Happy thoughts to all!

Hi All,
You are all in my prayers and hoping this one works out for you. I got the precious BFP from first time FET with only one embryo transferred in Feb, I thought there was no way as the fresh one had failed back in November. My cycle was non medicated as my problems are mechanical with tubes but ovulation is okay (took a couple of cyles off after IVF failed to make sure I was back regular).

I thought there was no way it could happen. In fact the only person I know here to have gone through IVF also became pregnant after a one embryo FET after the fresh cyle failed ... surely I thought no way this would happen to us both. What would the chances be! But it did work.

There is so much advice and different opinion on what will increase chances and really I think its the god of chance, and he has to be good to you at some point. For me, I took things a lot easier with the FET cycle, in that I just did things more normally and was less on egg shells, made a point of keeping up regular excersize as I thought improved blood flow and circulation was important for the uterus (I went for a big old walk to get blood flow going before the transfer and had cups of ginger tea!)

Such a long hard journey, but please dont give up hope, it only takes one and this could be the one. Am hoping so hard for you all that there is a BFP just around the corner.

Lots of baby dust being sent your way. Please post and let us all know how you get on.

Mel -- thanks so much for your postive post. I need all those that I can get. I am currently on my medicated FET cycle and am scheduled to have ET the week of July 10th. I am trying to think of this round as a "bonus round" and that everything happens in God's time and I am hoping that our schedules are in sync this time!!!! Thanks for the prayers, you never can have too many of those!!!

Nictor -- I soooo... know what you mean about this taking over your life. I feel obsessed at times. I too am hoping that 3rd time will be the charm for us!!

Julie -- wishing you a BFP!!!!

good luck and wishing time to fly!!!

Some clinics have better success with their FET cycles than fresh cycles. The embryos might be slightly degraded by the freezing and thawing, it's true. But the endometrium (uterus) can be ideally prepared without the elevated estrogen from ovarian stimulation in the fresh cycle.

IVF and fresh v. frozen

Post by IVFSwitzerland »

Hi, I havent quite figured out this website or message board yet so not sure whre to look exactly for replies but Im starting IVF in September and am worried as my doctor uses fresh for the first attempt and then frozen for each further attempt. I have heard that fresh each time is better - does any know? thanks

IVFSwitzerland,

Some clinics do well with frozen embryos, some don't. When choosing a clinic, I'd make sure they have a strong FET program. You don't want to have to go through ovarian stimulation every time if you don't have to. That's where most of the costs and risks are.

In the 2004 data, I've seen clinics that do better with frozen than fresh. Some that do so poorly with frozens, they hardly bother with them. I'd avoid those like the plague.

You can find their 2004 data here:

http://www.sart.org/find_frm.html

That's the very same certified data that the CDC publishes every December. But starting this year, SART published it 8 months ahead of the CDC. Cool.
