Hi guys,
Tiger, great to hear from you. Must be kind of surreal working in inner city London, and must feel MILES away from downtown Melbourne!! Glad that you've settled in and got comfortable with the routine of life, must be great to have all that time with dh after all the time you've had apart!

Suzanne, love the idea of play dates with our kidlets..I often catch up with girlfriends at Crazy Critters at Forest Lake, it's an indoor play centre with coffee shop / restaurant for parents, a lot of fun!! would be handy for both of us as well. Annie is lots better now thank goodness, just a fungal rash now on her "bott bott"..as she says "sore bott bott mummy". Took her to the doctor this morning who said it's a result of the antibiotics which cleared up her ear but gave her diahreoear (sorry, no idea of spelling!!) which then left her with a fungal infection..if it's not one thing it's another. We have a cream though that is supposed to be quite soothing and clear things up. We have taught Annie to put her hands on her head when we're applying the cream, otherwise she wants to grab for handfuls of the stuff and rub it on her face...what a mess!!!..she looks so cute lying on her back with her hands on her head!!

Em, can also understand the idea of having some time off, time to celebrate your birthday sounds very very worthwhile and will get you in a great frame of mind to prepare for the upcoming IUI cycles as well. Good luck!!

Well gals, gotta run, I have a girlfriend and her daughter coming for lunch and must cook!!!

B

P.S. Good luck Suzanne with your eye thingy, sounds kind of scarey!!

so far so good Bel - still no symptoms to speak of and the dr hasn't said that we can't start, so we're proceeding as normal at this stage!

Hi All,

Thanks for your good wishes Tiger, I wish I had better news to share. Especially after all that dancing you did for me.

My day 4 scan (on Friday) revealed 2 cysts on one of my ovaries, one 20mm, the other 38mm, so it's a cancelled cycle for us this month, and because I have stopped the Synarel now AF is just horrible.

I'm to start sniffing again on the 19th (day 21) for a longer down reg this time, and hopefully that will take care of the cysts. My gyn seems to think they are 'functional' cysts, caused by the hormonal flare from the sniffing, so a longer down reg should sort them out.

If it doesn't then it's a lap for me. (sorry if this is TMI!)

I'm surprised at how disappointed and upset I am about having to cancel this cycle. I hope the next one goes ok, I don't think I could cope with this disappointment too many times.

Hope everyone else is doing much better than me, sorry for such a miserable post.

Hi guys.

I'm sorry to hear your news Suzanne. It must be so upsetting to have to cancel.

I'm back on track again. AF came early (on day 21 - never happened before, I guess its the drugs) so have started Clomid and have first blood test on Monday 12th. I hope we have better luck this IUI. I haven't told anyone that we are doing this cycle so hopefully I won't jinx it.

Cheers all

Hi guys,

Suzanne, I was sorry to hear your news. It is dissapointing when this happens..you get yourself all psyched up and mentally prepared and then boom!..it's all gone. I always hated the unpredictability of the whole IVF rollercoaster, especially when we're used to being in control of our lives and what goes on. A positive though is that the next cycle will be using a slightly different protocol, and I always figure that the doc's learn each time something new about how you respond to drugs etc etc..meaning that there should be success next time around..I have everything crossed for your next cycle!!

Em, good luck for this cycle!..glad that everything is on track, sounds like you're on the way to a positive cycle as well..keep in touch and let us know how you're getting on won't you??

Tiger my old mate..6 days until your wedding anniversary!!..that's pretty exciting!!..Happy Anniversary...hope that you do something lovely together..

All good here, not sure whether to take Annie to the doctor, she keeps pulling at her ear and saying "sore"..breaks my heart..will see how she goes..

Hi everyone,

Suzanne, I am really sorry to hear your news. IVF really is so unpredictable. I think a similar thing happened to our dear old friend Tiger. You are not alone.

Tiger, I hope you have a fantastic wedding aniversary (did I spell that wrong????).

DH and I have been talking very seriously over the last couple of months about our options regarding our future family. We are still willing to give IVF more goes, but have opened up to the idea of overseas adoption. We have found out loads of info about it, spoken to people who have done it, and booked ourselves into a info session in August with the adoption people. We also discussed the idea with our families, to find out exactly how everyone feels about the idea - there were tears all round (happy tears, not sad tears!) Everyone is very excited about this option. My dad does not often say too much regarding his feelings, but became very emotional and excited about the idea of being a grandad - it was a lovely moment. What does everyone think & does anyone know anybody who has done overseas adoption. I would love any info. We are going to go ahead with iadoption if IVF is unsuccessful, but it is hard to set a cut off point with IVF - any opinions would be appreciated! Its a hard call to make. We will be sad to pull out, but so excitied about adoption. We are also going to speak with one of the IVF counsellors later on in the year.

Sorry to ramble on, but it is a lot to think about.

Thanks guys!

Suzanne - I'm so sorry about the IVF cycle being cancelled. It is awful - I remember if they put my tmt back a few days/weeks until I baselined I would be upset. In the end, I was on down reg for a while before this cycle too. I hope you have better news next time...I will be keeping everything crossed for you.

missmolly - overseas adoption is such a beautiful idea. A man I work with adopted a little boy from China with his wife, and they are over the moon. From what he went thrugh, it was a bit of a long process and even when they had their child, they still had to wait around 6months to get all his clearances to come out here. I suppose user IVFers are used to waiting though, arean't we? Good luck with whichever path you take - in the end, you & DH will make a lovely mum & dad.

Belinda - poor Annie Boo. She has really been in the wars lately huh? I hope she is OK.

Everything is good with me at the moment. I went for a hospital appointment today & heard the Munchkins heartbeat for the first time! Sounds like a widgy (sp?) board!!! Anyway, it was so good to hear him/her still alove, as I always worry in between scans that something may have happened. The doctor thought I was an idiot cos my uterus is clearly sticking out, and assured me that I would experience some pain & bleeding if something did go wrong....which it wont.... Anyway, only 3 weeks until my next scan, and I find out if I am right (boy) or Belinda is right!!!

Tiger - the lovely weather sounds heavenly. It is so cold in Sydney - we had our coldes day in 2 years a couple of days ago. And it's raining....

Hi there all,

MissMolly, exploring your options sounds really sensible to me. I don't know a lot about overseas adoptions but know that they occur semi-regularly. I'd have absolutely no idea regarding - how on earth do you decide when enough is enough and start looking at life beyond IVF (ie adoption). It would be a tough call..can you do both at once, ie continue on IVF as well as listing for overseas adoption? I remember seeing a program on chinese adoption once on Oprah, is hugely emotional and certainly another rollercoaster ride, but hey, as Bella has said, we IVF'ers are experienced rollercoaster riders!! I always think that the overseas adopted kids kind of get the last laugh (go with me on this). Often they are little girls in China, who, as a result of the one child policy are abandonded in preference for little boys. Life looks pretty bleak in orphanages and then all of a sudden this couple comes along who desperately wants her in THEIR lives and gives her the most incredible life, full of love and opprtunity and boundless adoration, as you and dh (and your extended family by the sounds of things) certainly would. I wish you all the very best with this next chapter of your lives MissMolly. Would love you, whatever decision you make, to stay in touch so that we can share the journey with you.

Bella, I still think it's a girl!!!

Hiya All,

Suzanne, I am so sorry about your cysts. They appear when we don't need them don't they - that is how I got my tmt cancelled too, believe me, I know exactly what you are going through. Take good care of yourself for now, snuggle up warm and get your hubby to spoil you rotten... BTW I am still jiggin' for you!! Just so that I can bring a little smile on your face. If you saw me dance you know exactly what I mean he-heh.

Em, hope all goes well on Monday. I hope you are stronger than I am with BT. I hate them with passion, esp at that moment when they suck my blood out of me... always leave me feeling really sorry for myself. Take care.

Missmolly, you and your hubby already know the answer to the Q you ask. Just want you to know that I am always, always wishing the best for you {{{hugs}}}.

Bella, so you call your little one Munchkin that is so cute, do you have any other names? So happy to hear that everything is going smoothly for you, and you got to hear the heatbeat.... WOW. Anyway I think Bel has it all wrong  , you will have a little son, a ha.

Bella, I am not picking on ya promise!!

Hope you all have a lovely LONG weekend. I am envious of you all  and I am the one living in UK.... FIGURE THAT ONE OUT!! AGHHHH.

Bed time for me, Thu evening, good morning to you all Fri morning. Cheers, Tiger

Thank you so much for your positive, supportive comments. It is true, DH and I had already made up our minds, but it really sets it in stone when others support our idea.

Hiya,

England is now truly engrossed in the Wolrd Cup fever. Suddenly all the TV ads are World Cup oriented!? Just wanted to share that with everyone, that is all 8) .

!!GO AUSSIES GO!!

Cheers, Tiger

PS. How much do I miss home... anyone know Paul Kelly's 'From St.Kilda to King's Cross'? I get all melancholy when I hear this song on the train to work. King's Cross Station I go to is not 'thirteen hours on the bus' away from St.Kilda..... :(

From St. Kilda to King’s Cross.
Paul Kelly

From St Kilda to Kings Cross is thirteen hours on a bus
I pressed my face against the glass and watched the white lines rushing past
And all around me felt like all inside me
And my body left me and my soul went running

Have you ever seen Kings Cross when the rain is falling soft?
I came in on the evening bus, from Oxford Street I cut across
And if the rain don't fall too hard everything shines just like a postcard
Everything goes on just the same

Fair-weather friends are the hungriest friends
I keep my mouth well shut, I cross their open hands

I want to see the sun go down from St Kilda Esplanade
Where the beach needs reconstruction, where the palm trees have it hard
I'd give you all of Sydney Harbour (all that land, all that water)
For that one sweet promenade
