Lisa, this is absolutely fantastic news!!! :D :D :D Well done.
Hoping all goes well for you. You must be over the moon…

This news has given me a new spurt of PMA. I’ll be 40 tomorrow and am in the middle of my first 2WW with IVF. I’m another poor responder (2 follicles this time) so feel myself quite lucky that one egg was retrieved, fertilized and turned out to be a grade A. So, Jen and Amfy, like you two, I have one embie on board and am trying to give it all my concentration. My test date is 12th June, which is DH’s birthday.

A big hello to everyone on this thread.
Best of luck and take care!!

Hi All!

Lisa - Well Done!! Many congratulations, you must be buzzing! Remember to keep looking after yourself. How we treasure every positive on this thread. Thank you for bringing that ray of sunshine to us all!

Jen - glad you found the article, Sonia - see if you can find it too.

I'm fine but feeling decidedly un-pregnant. just like last time, all my "symptoms" have disappeared a few days before test date. I'm Ok though, thinking that it's good that I feel prepared for the BFN. Other than that i have started to freak myself out that even if it is a BFP, my test date is the number of the beast! (060606) I'm actually wondering whether it might be better to leave it to Wednesday! (I know I'm weird!)

I'm in my normal cycle as it's a FET so my AF would usually be due tomorrow because I have a short cycle (ovulated on day 12 this time). I'm thinking I might to a HPT on Monday if AF is not already here by then.

Hello to All!

Hang in there! Two days after my ET I was quite crampy for two days and my breasts were sore (HCG booster?). Then, everything stopped and I had virtually NO symptoms - I was convinced that I was a BFN. I spoke to the nurse, scoured for some more positive outcome stories, and spoke to women I know here who have gone through IVF. I started convincing myself that since I felt NOTHING, I could still be pregnant, and I AM!

Do not lose the faith. Relax and believe that it can be you. Honestly, several years ago (three now) when my DH and I got engaged, I just had a sense that it was going to be difficult for me to get pregnant - fibroids and other issues. I was off of all birth control for three years and nothing. I really thought that I was likely to never have our own genetic children. I spoke frequently of adoption just to keep it on the forefront of my DH's mind in case we ended up pursuing this option.

I now believe in my body. The belief started turing around during this IVF process which like all of you, I have taken very seriously. I quit drinking completely (a big one for me), no caffeine, and very little processed foods. I have been faithfully doing acupuncture and taking all the fish oil and prenatals blah, blah. My point is, while yes, it's great to take care of yourself, it was part of my process to make me believe that I was young enough and healthy enough to conceive....even if it involved an entire community of people. We are amazing creatures and if it can work for me, it can work for you too.

Amfy and Jeni - you both sound exactly like me about five days ago. Both of you could be smirking soon. Just enjoy the ride.

Thank you all for your warm wishes. I'm going back tomorrow for another blood draw - but feeling confident (so far!).

take the best of care

Hi everyone!! Yikes you all have been busy while I was away forbidding myself from thoughts of anything related to infertility. Welcome to the new gals and Lisa CONGRATULATIONS!!!! That's such a great number too! Sooo much has happened since I last checked in, we got that long awaited call from our Foster Placement Agency and they had a baby girl for us. We are very overwhelmed since this is all such a mixed blessing. She was born with hydrocephaly....her brain makes too much spinal fluid causing pressure on her brain.....which has left her with neurologic deficits that cannot yet be determined. Her head is very large and she is not able to hold it up. She was also born with biliary atresia. This resulted in the removal of her Gall Bladder and her liver connects directly to her small intestine. Her mother was 17 while pregnant and got no care for her before and has neglected her after birth. Her liver is failing causing her to be very jaundiced (yellow) and since she cannot metabolize her formula (which is a special prescription type) she is very thin and despite being 8 months is still wearing newborn diapers and clothes. Hubby is doing INCREDIBLY well with her....having never cared for a baby, let alone a sick one, before. She's a very pleasant little lady. Doesn't fuss much and wakes about 2 times a night to feed which she desperately needs. We go to see the liver specialist on the 13th to get her score updated for the transplant list. The prediction is that without a new liver she will die by her 2nd birthday. I hope all of you are organ donors. I've always been very passionate about it but now more than ever. Help me be strong and do my best to love her and make her as happy and healthy as she can be. I'm so attached to her already, I can't bear the thought of her not getting a liver soon. (actually she only needs a tiny little piece of a healthy one) She's awake now so time to feed her again. More later,
Hugs and well wishes,
Lisa

Hi everyone,

such a lot going on at the moment, still haven't had a chance to read back all the messages, but I did see Lisa's (2) news. Many many congratulations Lisa, I am so thrilled for you. Well done!!

Hi to Sonix and any other newbies I may have missed!

Lisa - bless your little baby girl. I think she is very lucky to have you and DH in her life. Lets hope she gets her liver transplant very soon.

Well, our 12 ended up being 11 mature, 10 of which fertilized, finally 5 x 4-cell embies and 4 x 2-cell embies. Wait for it, I can't believe we did this, but we went for having 4 put back, with 5 to freeze for laters!!

After discussions with the doctor and embryologist, we were guided by them, as obviously one baby would be fantastic, but we are not put off by the possibility of twins, so they felt if we went for 4, our chances would be better. Yikes!! I do believe in miracles, but lets just hope that not all 4 decide to dig in. I am sure that (I hope) not all 4 will make it, but 1 or 2 as I said would be great.

Our trip went quite smoothly, until this morning, when the taxi to take us to the airport didn't arrive. Panic. Fortunately, the apartment owner had turned up to take the key off us, so he very kindly stepped in to the breach (not without a reasonably large "donation" mind!) We made it by the skin of our teeth, not quite the stress free 2 day post transfer that I was hoping for. Hey ho, at least now we are back home and I can chill as much as I like.

Enough now, I am going to sit quietly with a cup of fruit tea and try and read through the last few pages to catch up on the news.

Hello Ladies:

Lisa(2): Congrats on your BFP!!! :D Your beta level sounds good. How many embies did you transfer?

Bev:
Congrats on your 4 little embies!! That is great!! It would be great to have twins. Then you could get 2 babies for 1 pregnancy. I always thought it would be great to have twins. This frozen cycle though, I am not hoping for twins. :) Since I am definitely going to adopt from China, I would be overjoyed if DH and I could have 1 biological child and 1 adopted child.

Lisa: Wow, congrats on your new foster baby! What is it like to take care of a baby? I hoping a liver is found very soon.

Amfy, Jen & Son:
Keeping those fingers crossed for your embies!!
I have told this story before, but here goes again. My very good friend, Tracy just delivered a 8 lb 8 ounce baby girl 2 weeks ago. She did 1 medicated cycle and had only ONE mature follicle. She is 42 years old. One good embie is all that you need.

Caz: Good luck on that scan!!

Anna: Come on AF!!

I'm going for the HSG X-ray tomorrow. If all is well, we will proceed with the frozen cycle next cycle. My doctor said that since I have 4 frozen eggs, we will hope for 1 to 2 to make it to transfer. I guess you have to allow for some not to survive the thaw and some not to make it to transfer.

Take care all,
Tammy

Is something strange happenning to this thread?

It is showing as 160 pages long but when I try to get page 160 it tells me that the topic doesn't exist. I'm posting to see if I can get to page 160 Testing, Testing!

Well - mystery solved - despite 160 showing there, it really doesn't exist yet. Or maybe it does now?

Hi ladies
Welcome back Bev. Wow 4 embies!! You go girl. So glad you are back and all went according to plan (Bad luck with the taxi, but heh, only that to worry about and we'd be laughing!!) Sooo pleased for you. When is your test date? Will be watching for your news. I start my eostrogen patches tonight as Af came this afternoon. Then I'll have a scan in about a weeks time to see if the lining is ready. Hope you are looking after yourself. Did you go with your sister in the end or did dh bite the bullet and take some time off work? Any advise to share about your experience? Keep me posted my egg donor buddy!

How are the other 2wwrs doing? Fingers crossed for you.

Caz, did you have your scan? Hope all is OK.

Tammy hope HSG goes OK tomorrow and you can proceed with your cycle.

Hugs to all here
Bye for now

Nearly 40 - 5 weeks to go!!!

Post by sunseeker »

Hello everyone
I have just joined this site since discovering just after I finished my first attempt of IVF. It was so helpful and reassuring to find I wasn't alone! We have been trying for at least 10 years but with no success and most recently tried IVF - they collected 5 eggs but only 1 fertilised and unfortunately after the awful 2WW it was BFN, that 2ww is the worst part your brain plays all kinds of tricks with you doesn't it. The slightest twinge or feeling can mean you definately could be or definately are not depending on how you feel on that day.
We went back to the clinic last week (IVF was in April) and spoke to the specialist and apparantley 4 out of 5 of the eggs were the top grade but only 1 fertilised - even using ICSI - is that normal? He said that they didn't find anything wrong with either of us but would have liked to see more than 5 eggs. Our chance 2nd time around would be approx 25 - 30% but if we wanted to try egg donation it could be as high as 70 - 80%, not sure what to do really as the difference in success is staggering.
Would be grateful for any advice/experiences anyone has as it's really hard to decide.
If we decide on egg donation there is a 6 month waiting list here (we live in Mallorca, Spain) but if we want to try on our own we will probably wait until after my big 40 in July and try again in August.
Sorry to ramble on so much but this is my first posting and it's all new to me!!!
Hope all is going well for everyone
Congratulations to Lisa on her BFP - it is definately stories like that that keep us all going.
Good luck to all 2WW - try and chill and not worry too much (easy for me to say I know!)
