What should I expect?

I am new to all this side of it. Have had tons of tests done, un explained infertility.

My "kick off" starts this summer. In July I have to phone my clinic with my cycle dates, which will be around the end of the month.

In theroy, sometime in Aug, I start on the meds. The are planning on giving me injections to throw me in to menopause for a month, then hoping for retreval in Oct (im guessing).

What I would like to know is how painfull any of this is, and will I possibly need to take time of work? I am a nanny.

Hello and welcome
these ladies are all very supportive and helpful so they can give you lots of info. I am in no way an expert ( I am in my 1 and hopefully only IVF cycle now)
the shots and test and for me the reterival and transfer did not hurt..
You will need to take some time off for bed rest after the transfer (some docs say 1 day my doc said 3 and some say up to 7 days of bedrest) and than you should be able to return to normal...

Its hard to understand my own DR, not that he says very much, and when he does its very quickly. Must ask him to slow down a bit!!

I just know when the time comes for it all to start, I will be a dribbling mess, no smoking, no drinking and no choccie!!!

I have had to loose a ton a weight for this also, so I havent had much of the choccie or the beer The ciggies stop at the end of the month

Yes I quit smoking before I started this too.. Beyond everything that is the hardest for me.. I get very anxious and nerves before AF and I also get all worked up with the quitting smoking so I having a battle right now with are my nerves AF coming (better not be) or are they just the nicotine withdraw...
Yes make your doc go at your pace and just remember you are allowed to ask as many questions as you want..

Yes, the thought of giving up is a bit much, but Im very lucky that when I give up things, I can do it at the drop of a hat, so fingers crossed...........

yeah I have a harder time but in the end it will be worth it for all of us..
