Cammy,
Glad your feeling better. I am also. I have an appt with the Dr on Friday, so hopefully will get some answers sooner than later. I also e-mailed a Dr who I know and trust that is at another clinic and am waiting to see what he has to say about everything.

Just wondering where in Ca your are from? I am in/near Sacramento.

Take care. Let me know if you do the chinese herbalist and accupuncture. Do you know if accupuncture is real expensive???

Hi, Kelly,

I am glade that you are feeling better, too. :) I hope you will be able to get some answers from them. My follow-up appt is not until June 21 because he is going on vacation a week prior and there are no available appts. :( It's okay though. I think he might suggest to us to look into the egg donation. He sort of mentioned it since our first consultation.

Sacramento, I like the Northern Cal area. I used to live in the Bay area for a few years while going to school there. I think it's much nicer than So. Cal. I am in the greater Los Angeles area. Today, I was researching on the internet. Interestingly, I came across this site. Please take a look at this site, but the posts seem to be a couple of years old.

http://parents.berkeley.edu/advice/pare ... ility.html

It happens to be in Northern Cal. It gives you the references of a few accup/Chinese herbalists and people's experiences with them. I think it could be helpful. I think the price is not too bad, considering what we pay for the IVF procedures and the meds (about 10G with no insurance). I read somewhere in there that it costs about 200 per visit. My husband and I are planning to go to see a Chinese herbalists this Friday. I understand the treatment is not a quick fix though. My friend told me this one charges about 150 or so. Hope this helps!

Please keep me posted!

Hi Cammy - I am really happy you are feeling better :D :D I have answered your questions below:

1. How long between your 1st ivf and your 2nd cancelled ivf?, and between your 2nd ivf and 3rd ivf? Were you under the Chinese herbs/Accu treatment since your 1st ivf?
My 1.IVF was in March/April 2005. I wanted my next go to be in July but my acu doc said I wasn't ready and I should wait...the way things turned out I started my 2.IVF in September 2005 when I got naturally pregnant. I started acu let's say beginning of May...so it took 4 months for my body to be ready (which they say it takes 3 months for acu to start working). I started the 3.IVf in January with a BFP in March. It was a very long and horrible cycle - I stimmed for over 22 days! I did acu/chinese herbs consistently from May 2005 until March 2006.

2. I know you've mentioned that it will take a while for the Chinese herbs and accup to work. How long was your treatment? Are you still doing the Chinese herbs while you are pregnant?
Definitely not doing any more acu or chinese herbs while pregnant...it is very strong and my doc won't do acu unless you have a problem pregnancy.

3. detox diet - what sort of diet changes do you mean? I was reading about the Intestinal Candida infection yesterday. Since starting the ivf cycles, I seem to be proned to the vaginal yeast infection. Every time, while I was on the ivf cycle, my RE would put me on aspirin everyday and then on antibotic just before the retrieval. My RE told me that is because the PH changes in the vaginal secretion due to the hormones changes and the antibotic -killing off the good bacteria. So, I was reading about the yeast infection and found out that we can also get an intestinal yeast infection. I am thinking of doing a yeast detox to see if it works. Not sure if I should do this while doing the Chinese herbs though. The yeast detox will take about 2 months to complete the treatment.
I did the liver detox and ate only pure food for 10 days..so absolutely nothing processed..and no white anything (sugar, pasta, flour)...so I really only ate organic fruits and vegetables...that is it...with lots of water. Definitely mention to the chinese herbalist about your yeast problems and let him know you want to do a detox.

4. It would be a great help, if you can share with me your detox diet. What did you do exactly?
If you go on the internet or on amazon and look up 'liver detox' there are tons of books - unfortunately I lent mine out and don't remember the name. Entails eating super, super healthy (nothing processed)- drinking tons of water - lots of walking (nothing strenuous). We had a group of us on the board supporting each other. I also did water detoxes..36 hours with only water. You really feel very clean after the detoxes...and hair, skin, nails are amazing :D

Please feel free to PM me if you need support or have questions. I am really interested on how your appointment goes at the chinese herbalist - WOW he is expensive so he must be very good!!

Big hugs, Traci

Hi, Tracii,

Thank you so much for the info. I will definately take you up on your offers. I guess the Chinese Herbalist whom I went has a long track record of getting couples pregnant. He told us that a lot of people go to him when the western medicine has failed. He has many letters and a lot of pictures of the babies born with their parents posting on wall and in his office as results of his treatment. He got so many that he can't even put them all up on a wall. He gave me some herbs in capsules, and my husband some herbs, too. Apparently, I am going into premenepause pretty soon because of my age and may be because of the fertility medicines that I took. They fertility medicien were too strong for me. He told me that he will try to balance my body so that the ovaries can respond again and have normal matured eggs. He believes that we will be pregnant within a year without the ivf. Let's hope that he is right. It's all a mystery to me still. I hope it's worth it at the end. Yes, you're right. He is very expensive. For my husband and me, it was almost $360 per visit. He did say that at least for my husband, there is a measurable test looking at the sperm analysis before and after 3 months of treatment.

Paula,

Sorry that you are feeling depressed. Please try to cheer up :) , Sending lots of love and hugs  .... Hopefully you are feeling better now.
It has been hot here. It seems to be around 100 degree F. The weather is a little unbearable here!
Yes, some did say that aspirin may cause miscarriage because aspirin is a blood thinner. I think it affects each person differently. You might want to clarify with your RE before your treatment starts. Trying to do some fun activities to cheer yourself up. Things will always work out. I will keep you in my prayers....
Take care for now,

Cammy

Hi Cammy, thanks for thinking about me. I was a wee bit down because I went to visit my friend who just had a baby. Seeing all those lovely babies and pregnant mums. Hopefully next time I'm there it's because I'll be a patient! Sun came out very briefly today. Our clinic was on the tv today because they're not doing donor sperm treatment as they don't have enough dorors. THankfully we don't need that. I went to Costco yest to by a wirlie (rotary drier) - spent £236!!!! Far too many nice things to buy. Got some nice t-shirts for my hols. Take care Paula xImage

Hi Cammy - I am keeping the faith for you!! It sounds like the chinese med doc knows what he is doing...and has lots of proof on the walls...this is always very encouraging. When I went to see my acu/chinese med doc, DH thought I was crazy...but she gave me a lot of explainations on why I was not getting pregnant....she too told me in August last year I would be pregnant in a year...well she was right. Give your body and mind a break - sounds like you need it and you will be amazed at how your body reacts. Did the doc look at your tongues and take your pulse?

Hi, Paula,

I understand how awful and hurt can be when we see other pregnant ladies or new borns. We need to believe that we can be pregnant and will be pregnant. Just keep up your faith and spirit. You will be there soon. While you are waiting for your next IVF, you and husbands might want to consider doing a detox and take some supplemenets like omega-3 essential fatty acids.

Just another hot day for me here. I am looking forward to take a trip after my DH's school let out, which will be in three weeks. We are thinking of taking a road trip. We have not done this for a while. I think it will be fun.

Sending lots of baby dust!!! :) :)

Hi, Tracii,

Thank you so much for the encouraging words. (with a bear hug!) I think, in a way, you are much more optimistic than I am. I am so glade you wrote back :D .
I had to do some convincing for my DH to go too. He was not comfortable taking some herbs not know what they were.
Yes, the herbalist took our pulses and checked under our tongues. Since my cycle is very regular, he just said that if I have gone to him earlier, I would not have to do the IVF and would be pregnant sooner. He wanted me to do a histerosalpingraph to check if there is any blockage in my tubes. It was cancelled earlier since we were doing ICSI. The RE did not see a need to do it. I am scheduled to do it next Monday.

Judging from the IVF results, he thought the meds were strong for me. I also know this too. My RE told me that he is trying to push my body as hard as he could. For some reasons, my body just did not respond to the fert. meds well. The herbalist said also the uterus lining is an issue since there was no implanation with high quality embryos the first IVF. He is treating this as well.

My herbalist did not recommend accupuncture to me. I wonder if I need to. We are scheduled to go back to the herbalist in two weeks. I will ask him then. Also, I heard that flaxeed containing omega3 essential fatty acids is good for fertililty. I wonder if I can take vitamins with the herbs. Sometime it was hard to communicate with the herbalist, I could not understand his English very well.

How is your pregnancy going? What are you doing to help you to avoid a m/c?

Take care,

Cammy

Hi, Paula,

Great, the sun finally came out for you. I am sending an extra sunshine your way. :D We have not decided on where to go for our road trip yet. Yesterday, it was overcast here and the temp cooled down a bit.
I am going to a belly dancing convention this weekend. I can't wait. I don't know how to belly dance, but my friend is in it. My DH and I are going to support her. I hope it will be fun. Do you have any plans for the weekend?

Hi Cammy. Belly dancing - my goodness sounds fun. We should maybe all try it to make those embies stick and snuggle down. Nothing too excitig this weekend - my lovely Shih-Tzu has his groomers appointment and I've to put my DH's car into the garage. Hopefully the weather will be nice so I can sit out in the garden and read. I've just ordered a Rita West book and Fertility for Dummies. Hopefully they'll come in time so I can read them in the sun. Enjoy your belly-dancing!! Don't shake too hard - you might cause yourself an injury!!!Image

Paula,

:D , Actually, I was thinking if I shake hard enough, I can shake a few extra follies loose to get more fertilized eggs. Also, they can stick as I shake! Haraay!!!!
Wow, you have a Shih-Tzu. They are so cute. We have 2 cats instead.
It's been gloomy here. We called it June gloom. The weather has just been crazy. One minute is over 100 degrees Feh, and the next minute is overcast with misty rain.
I hope you get sunshine this weekend. So you can enjoy the outdoor! It sounds wonderful to relax in the sun! I love it. I almost can feel the warm sun on me. Hope you have a terrific weekend!
