Hi

Vicky - another success story is always great to hear congrats on baby Oliver enjoy every minuet believe me they grow so fast.

Mags - sorry you could not get review moved forward I too have come across the grumpy receptionist, she upset me during my last cycle, you’d think she’d be a bit more compassionate considering were she works, I know we all get stressed but still. Don’t know anything about your consultant but like the girls said the Hammersmith won’t take just anyone.

Lola - sorry to hear your down, good luck with studying and the exam, its tough going but not long now, big hugs.

Carolyn - nice to hear a midwife being positive about Hammersmith.

My Review

Met Trew for first time yesterday and I liked him, I felt he was an approachable straight talking guy.

My main concern was why I responded so poorly to stims, Trew had no idea why, my cycle in 2003 was a success I responded well to drugs started on 150 Puregon and went up to 200 they collected 9 good quality eggs and I got Andrianna. My FSH levels have not changed my antral follicle count was good so without another cycle to go on he’s not sure. Possible reasons were that maybe my ovaries either don’t like to be down regged, or its just one of them things and for some reason my ovaries produced few eggs for that month. His thoughts therefore are to change my protocol to an Antagonist protocol which is nice and short no down reg and to start me on 250 Puregon. , he said he will monitor me closely and hopes to get a good number of eggs, however if I respond poorly this time he wants further investigation to see what my ovaries are playing at, but at this time he's not concerned and it almost sure My egg numbef will be fine. He’s not concerned about my cyst and high sitting ovary so I’m booked in to cycle Jul.

Take care enjoy the sun

Vicki

Thanks for giving us the low down.

I agree with you that Mr Trwe seemed very down to earth & straight talking.

Sounds like you have a good plan and now can start counting down. Not long to wait at all. The good news is that he is going to keep a close eye on you

So for me I am on my 4th sess of acupuncture tomorrow with the cutie 8) - shall have to wait & see where the needles end up tomorrow???

Take good care.

Lola - I have this picture of your study notes covered in fake mositurising/tan!!! I was thinking of getting some as my legs are so darn white that they will scare people away next week when I am holiday -

Mags - Like Lola I am sure that they would not have taken on a duffer - they have way too much at stake - especially as a big teaching hospital - next time I go, I shall hunt out stroppy receptionist and take her outside

just thought i'd add that mr trew is my absolute hero. I think Hammersmith is just wonderful and so professional, they monitor ypu really well , much mor ethan many places.

Mr trew was recommended to me by a nurse friend who said he simply inspires confidence. After a bad experience with another consultant elsewhere, he said ALL the right things in our first meeting.
typically of hammersmith I didnt see him since any of my 3 fet, but i know the doctors consulted him on my behalf to use an unusual combination of drugs for my last cycle as i was reacting badly. the doctor said it was a stroke of genius , and i agree! I am expecting twins!!!!!

best of luck and love

Hey ladies

Lumi congratulations - twins! Man oh man, thats superb news. You were one of the original october thread people way back and now you have your excellent result! I am determined that all the remaining october thread will be pregnant by the end of the year - that would be fantastic.

Carolyn, where are you going on holiday? Somewhere exotic? Why don't you get one of those spray tans? They're pretty subtle and not orange.... As for the cute acu man.... bad girl! I wonder if I'll get the same one... but ok, ok, I'll keep my distance, you saw him first :D

Mags - who was the rude receptionist? They're generally very nice... or was it that co-ordinator person? Because she is SO RUDE. I complained about her as she was SO mean to me after my ectopic and made me cry. If it was her I'm in with Carolyns plan - I'd like to kick her in the shin. Hard.

Vicki so you'll be the first of us to cycle there this time...good luck! Hopefully I'll go again in August.... we should have some sort of trash magazine rota for the waiting area.

Hope you're all enjoying the heat! Its now 4 days until my exams!!! It'll all be over my the end of June and then I'm FREEEEEEE :D :D CANNOT WAIT!!!
Anyhoo, back to my cubicle of hate to study. I almost wish i was at work...

Stay pressed 'smiths

Hey Lola

Read on Octo thread that you passed your last exam. Way to go lady. BIG BRAIN

You are a Image.

Certainly should give you hope for the next exam. Keep at it - although must be pretty dire when it is this warm & sunny.

Spotted your ticker saying that you are counting down to your review. At least only 2 more weeks to wait until you can go give Mr Lavery a really hard time.

Good Luck with the next lot of study.

Love Carolyn xxxx

Well ladies - don't panic that I am on the missing list for the next 8 days. DH and I are off to Antigua which we booked in a what the hell moment after the BFN. No sign of AF which should be here today so am sure that if I pop on a white bikini (that is if I was brave/mad enough to have one) when we arrive I am sure that she will show up straight away.

Anyway - have a good week my hammersmith pals - I will be thinking of you but not too much as we need some time out together to be a normal married non-ivf ing couple Image We'll have plenty of time to worry about lap and next cycle when we get back. Take good care. Hugs Carolyn xxxxxx

Carolyn - have a fantastic time in Antigua - I'll be on my roof terrace today pretending I'm in the Carribean!

Lola - I'm going to laugh now next time I see the rude person - 'cos we've all been talking about her! Will get her name though - I call her the receptionist because she answers the phone and is at the front desk books your appointments etc - but perhaps she's the coordinator???

Anyway - more positive things! A friend of a friend is an acupunturist and she has recommended a clinic in Queen's Park that specialises in all things women/fertility related. Incase it's of use to anyone - here's the website:

Hi Hammers

Carolyn - Have a fantastic time in Antigua, yep I know what you mean about the white bikini my best white undies usually do it for me. Have a great time, just being a couple without the IVF stuff works wonders.

Lola – congrats on exam not long for this next exam is under your belt and another pass coming your way.

Lumi – Twins fantastic news take it easy and look after yourself and those babies.

Mags – yes I think it is the coordinator, I have visions of us all arriving for our appointments and looking for her so we can give her the evil eye.

Take care my hammers I’m off to enjoy some sun have a great weekend

hello ladies

It is such a beautiful day! I'm finding it so hard to study today... am planning outing to find Ice Cream van in Mission: 99.

The Co-ordinator woman is Debbie someone  Although if you are watching exam karma god, I do have a lot of love in my heart for her really....

Carolyn have a wonderful holiday - I know you will, Antigua! Dreamy. I am so jealous! Please have a few cocktails and hammock swings for me and then ESP them back to me around 10:00 on Monday as I sit in the RCP amiphitheatre of cold hard facts and tears :D Enjoy yo bad self!

Vicki and Mags have a top weekend - it's going to 30 degrees in London apparently! Woo hoo!

Take care

Hammers

I had to go to Page 2 to find you all. Shock. Horror.

Lola - hope that the written papers went ok last week - is it just the oral to go? I sent you clever brain waves from the beaches of Antigua. Not long to your follow up meeting - do let us know how that goes?? I am hoping that you can persuade them to go to blasts.

We had a terrific time in Antigua being normal couple, almost forgot IVF c**p at times. Then you come back and it is not just post-holiday blues to face but the fact that you do in fact have to do ivf again. Rather depressing but we did have a great time together. Made me think that we will be ok if it is just the two of us - not happy - but we will ensure that we are in fact ok together.

Mags - have you started the acu yet - let us know if it makes any difference for you

My acu guy is spookey. Saw him Thursday before I went away. He told me to expect AF on Sunday of holiday - 2 days late - sure enough she arrived - no warning signs as I usually have. He told me how it would be different to the past - and it was. SPOOKEY. See him again on Tuesday so will see what he has to say then. Been on the weird herbs as well - they are disgusting so really hope that they are doing some good

Vicki - tmt not that far away for you now - are you doing anything in particular to prepare?

Hope that you are all enjoying the lovely weather.

Work tomorrow. Yuck! Going down to Devon next weekend as my Mum's birthday. Dh think that I should tell them about the tmt as he thinks that my mum will be able to help me. I am undecided. Don't want them to be sad for me and ask loads of questions - but it is a big deal to keep hidden and not say anything at all. I am 60%/40% in favour of telling them. Have lap to look forward to and that is only a week away now  At least after that I hope Mr Trew will chat to me about what news - AF will be due around 13th July so we will have to wait & see..........

Take good care all. Nice to be back with you all.

les Smiths

Glad you had a good time Carolyn and good to have you back. Are you all tanned and chilled out? I know! page 2 - the shame! I've been in post exam fugue state and not posting mucho. Writtens were pfftt, didn't go brilliantly. Clinical and Vivas next week will be absolute delight I am sure. Am preparing my crap self for a fail. hey ho, will pass next time. When I am pregnant!
It is a bit dire coming back from holiday and having to remember again about the ivf trail to stress BUT I think next time will be our time. Not long for your laparoscopy - it will go smoothly. Can I ask a cheeky q? You're having it done privately - how much does it cost? pm me if you like. Am just trying to think options if Dr McFertile suggests more investigationes. Have not thought about ivf for such a long time really. Am a little nervous about opening up this particular can o worms.
Your acu guy does sound spooky - maybe he has the gift of prophecy? I wonder if knows whether I've passed my whatsits. Going to book myself in in July.

How are the other ladies? Vicki you are starting soon?? have you already started? Mags?

Ok I'm off to watch the football

Love, Lola

More tanned than when I left and more chilled until I encounter work tomorrow.

No worries. Ask away. All fair game as far as I am concerned. £2k for lap op. A lady at work who I have been talking to in confidence things that I may be able to get done under work healthcare insurance. Would need to be classed as investigations rather than opening up my tubes which is considered treatment which they will not pay for.

Going to call tomorrow. Explain that I have moved from Magara to Trew and see what they say. Just going to say that he wishes to investigate further/differently. I can only ask and they can only say no.

Sure that you have done a lot better than you think. Good luck for the oral exams over next week or so. Hope that you get the answers that you want at your review. Guess it is good and bad getting started on the rollercoaster again. Exam Pass & BFP for you girl.

I just wanted to say, that my DH and I used Hammersmith Hospital and our consultant was Dr Magara, and we really liked him. We were also recommended Dr Lavery.

The team were very helpful and patient, especially the nurses in the theatre.

They open at 7.00am which was great us to drive from Kent up to the hospital and get back to work at a good time.

I am now 12 weeks pregnant with one little one and recently had my nuchal scan so my DH and I are thrilled and praying each day.
