Too early for HPT test????????

Post by luckygal »

Hi Ladies,

This is our first IVF.

I am on this dreaded 2ww  , tranfered 3 embies on 2nd Jun , it is 3 days transfer. This morning which is 9th day after transfer, i caved in did HPT, it is BFN

I would like to know when is the best time to test on your own with HPT, I know our Dr always tell us, do not do any HPT before the Beta, Yet, right???

Please anyone share some of your experience with me, what day for you to start showing BFP on HPT after the transfer.

My beta test is tomorrow, is it too early for beta test after 10 days transfer????? Most of ladies here have to wait 2ww for beta??

Soooooooo confused  , pls help!!!!!!!

Luckygal,
welcome to the board!! It seems that the number of days after transfer and before the Beta-tests vary quite a bit in different clinics. If your clinic does a 10dp3dt test I think you do not have to worry about it being to early. Those blood tests do detect the smallest concentrations of Hcg. Very much unlike the HPTs, which often give you false negatives! I know how hard it is not to worry after a negative HPT, but try to keep up hope until tomorrow. There are so many stories out there of ladies who were pregnant, but tested negative with HPT on the day of their Beta test.

Good luck, luckygal, I will think of you and keep my fingers crossed tomorrow!

Thank you veronika, ogr1 & Ghost, very kind of you for taking your time reply my post!!

I got my beta back, was 8, sounds really low for 10dp3dt :? , it is low positive, not a Big Fat one i am wishing for. The Dr told me all the results coming back for the last week were all extremely low , he thought the Lab maybe having some problem?????? He also told me they only have one lab run Beta in this area, ieven i want to switch the lab. it doesn't help the situation here.

Have to go back for another test on Wed.

I know some of the ladies here starting with low beta, carry on with a health baby, but most of them are not so lucky.

Just wishing my number is going up on Wed.

Thanks again ladies for your encouragement,

Luckygal

Sounds like you know what an 8 usually means. I hope it's just a bad lab measurement. Or else a slowly rising normal pregnancy. They happen, but are rare.

RIGHT!!! Your doctor that is!! Dont you know the mantra PEE STICKS ARE EVIL (repeat times 10!!!). I know there is no point trying to resist, but its worth a try!

Dont give up hope yet, wait until your beta. HCG doesnt start being released until the embryo has actually IMPLANTED, which accounts to some degree for the different levels people get even though testing same days.

So you dont give up hope totally .... I never managed to take my own advice in both 2ww, and this time round I was devastated when I held out on testing with my evil pee sticks until 10 days past transfer... the day before my beta, then caved ... took a HTP ... (one that was supposed to be ultra sensative and detect pregnancy from 4 days past transfer) anyway ... I got a BFN, devastated, and cried into a couple of "consolation bugger you then" beers on Friday night, and then tested postive the very next day with my beta and am now 18 weeks on.

Good luck to you honey. Am sending you heaps of baby dust. Good luck good luck good luck!

Mel P~

Congratulations on your pregnancy, i hope the rest of your journey is stressless and pleasant.

I wanted to know if you remember having any symptoms before your beta, im at 6dp3dt and right now i have absalutely no sypmtoms and feel nothing but slight boob pain and i know thats from the progesterone. I am just feeling a little down and scared today and dont know if i should do the dreaded pee test its just so tempting sitting in the bathroom cabinet. the same thing happened to me last time with my ivf i stopped feeling anything overnight. im just so scared because this is my last shot at ivf considering how darn expensice the whole thing is.

Best wishes,
vita

Update on my second beta, my HCG# is doubling!!!!!!!!! is 23 on 12dp3dt, still low, but according to the Dr, all the number coming back were off in our clinic, he was expecting some number up to 50 for some ladies, coming back as 17 or 18???? He was really sure the lab have something to do it, the good news is the beta is doubling for me, my embie decided take a little sweet time.........

Just wondering if there is some discrepancy on the part of lab, if this is the case, i may still have a chance??????? This morning i did HPT, it shows positive, i guess i am still in the game!!!!!!!!!!!

Dr. also recommend another B/W on Fri, he said it is up to me for 3rd B/W, otherwise we just go head to schedule for U/S on 30th Jun.

Any recommendation on 3rd blood work? Did you have to keep doing blood work until it shows the partern of doubling??

Would love to hear from you ladies!!!!!!

Thanks,

Luckygal

Hi Luckygal, congrats!.. :) I had bloodwork every 2-3 days to check on my hcg, E2 and P4 levels up till I had my 1st scan at 6 wks... I don't think that's the norm at most clinics, but I was certainly glad to get regular results updates to reassure myself that things were ok!

I did another HPT this morning, still shows pregnant :P :P , i may go in for another Beta.

As this point, i really don't want the beta# bother me too much, just enjoy as much i can, consider myself pregnant, one way to another i would like to see the heartbeat in two weeks  .

I do think, the whole IVF is very stressful in many ways, the up and down, the worries, the craziness and disapointment........., those extra negative emotional stress is not helping at all.

I try to stay positive as much as i can so my baby get some positive vibe :P

Thanks again for all your support.
