I had 2 blood tests..the first 6 days after transfer and then 9 or 10 days after transfer. I pretty much knew on the 6 day transfer I was pregnant (HCG=60) but the clinic only said there was a probability and then the pregnancy was confirmed on the second blood test. My first IVF (which failed) my 6 day blood test HCG=.01...so definitely knew there was no chance....suprisingly quick how the HCG was out of my system.
Thats interesting that they give you all those tests. Guess it breaks up the 2ww, (and stops you resorting to the evil home pee sticks) but must be quite a lot of anxiety too. Clinics over here only test on 14 DPO, so usually 11 days after 3 day transfer. The wait was a killer. Sending you heaps of baby dust, good luck to you! When do you first test?

Hi Ghost,
my clinic just does one test on day 12 post transfere..i was interested to read people getting more bloods done i like the idea more i think you would know sooner if its a chem pregnancy or going to miscarry than 1 test will.

I once asked the docs why three tests when it only takes one. They said they wanted to see the pattern of how the hCG was rising, since it gives them a clue if it might be an abnormal pregnancy (biochemical pregnancy, or the dreaded ectopic pregnancy). The latter types tend to rise slowly, raising a red flag, and warranting investigation. It takes more than one point to get a slope (recall algebra?).
Note that clinics with blastocyst transfers logically take their measurements sooner after transfer, because the embryos are farther along. So day 9 or 10 instead of day 12 or 14.
