Test date 6/16...

Post by jend »

Hello to all! This is my first time posting on this board. DH and I recently completed our first IVF cycle (Both of us are 34). Our retrieval was on 6/3 and transfer on 6/6. They were able to retrieve 13 eggs, 9 of which were good. With ICSI (we are undergoing treatment for male factor infertility) they were able to fertilize 8. I got a call on day 3 to come in for transfer. I was hoping for day 5 but all embryos arrested except for 2. My doctor was not in the day of the transfer and another doctor performed the transfer. He told me both looked "good". One was 6 cells and one was 8 cells and there was little to no fragmentation. So, they transferred both. My doctor later called to check on me and said that the 8 cell was ok - but there was a dominant cell and they don't like to see that - means the cells are not growing equally. She said the 6 cell looked good though. After I hung up I almost started crying - I was less the optimistic at that point. I was upset about there only being 2 "good" ones to transfer - and now I am finding out that there was probably only 1!

This has been the longest 10 days of my life! Not to mention the job the progesterone shots are doing to me physically and emotionally. I have to go Friday a.m. for the test and should find out by early afternoon if BFP. I have been having AF like symptoms...not major cramping but some slight??? I am also having lower back pain - but it feels more like a sore muscle - like a secondary effect from the shot??

Anyone else have similar situations, symtpoms? The doctor did say she was a little disappointed that all arrested except for the 2. If we get our BFN and I am fully expecting it (I really need to be more positive) we are going to try again - but probably wait until the end of the summer.

i just feel like it is never going to happen! There are so many emotions going through me right now - I completely lose myself sometimes. Up until this point - the whole IVF process was a piece of cake. The last week has been an emotional roller coaster.

Anyway, thanks for listening. This seems like a great board!

jen,

welcome to the most wonderful message board.

I just finished reading your post and i wanted to tell u that the symptoms you have are very similar to alot of the women on the board.

although you had one good embie thats all you need, a wonderul lady named jackie on the boards just got a BFP with one little fighter so it is very possible. i wish you good luck on the 16th.

best wishes,
vita

Hi Jen,

I am also on round 1, so understand exactly. Try not to worry, I had really bad AF pains for the first week and a bit, but they had mostly gone until yesterday.

I know it's hard, especially as there seems to be no 'normal', this board has been a massive help to me though, not only does everyone provide great support, but you will also see that people have the same feelings as you.

My test is on Saturday, but I have already tested negative at home twice. I am not doing anymore, it is too upsetting.

Good luck for Friday babe, I'll be keeping everythng crossed for you. Let us know how you get on.

Lot's of love

Shelley and Dolce...THANKS! I am so glad I found this board. Just reading through the posts has calmed me down a little! I post on a TTC message board and have been for the last year...it gets tough watching people get BFP after BFP. However, there are still quite a few of us that are still waiting patiently for our BFP!

I am praying that the one sticks! It is weird because I have been so pessimistic the last week but on Sunday I had a dream I got a BFP. I'm thinking it is because DH and I had a long discussion about being more "positive" right before bed. The weird thing is - I just can't even imagine getting a BFP!!!!

I guess nothing can prepare me for the call on Friday. My boss knows everythign that is going on - I already told him I am working from home. I will keep you updated! Thanks again for replying!
