Hi Girls,
Haven't posted for a while, but still been hanging around the boards looking for any juicy tips and taking confort from all the recent positives in the JCBs and the ACBs!!

I had my first failed ICSI attempt in July this year, everyting was fine throughout the treatment but the little embies decided not to implant and I started bleeding on day 6 of the dreaded 2WW. I have yet to have my follow up consulation (not till September) My clinic (Liverpool Womens Hospital) will not start another cycle until I have had 3 natural AFs so I will hopefully hop on the old fertility roundabout again in October.

Anyway, enough waffling, what I am really after is any advice on how I can maximise my chances 2nd ( and probably final) time round. I have read several different posts from various girlies who have taken Marilyn Glenville's Fertility Plus supplements, baby aspirin, not taken baths, acupuncture etc.

Anybody got any stories on things they did differently 2nd or more time around which they would reccommend. I am particularly interested in Marilyn Glenvilles Fertility Plus and acupuncture.

Look forward to hearing from you soon and good luck to everybody undergoing treatment at the moment.

Julie
xx

PS I recently read Marilyn Glenvilles book where she advocates following a 4 month pre conception plan and taking her supplements. Obviously I will be starting treatment in Oct, do you think it is now too late to start them?

PPS We have to pay for our treatment privately as my dh already has children from a previous marriage. I have noticed some postings where people are paying for their treatment but their drugs are paid for by their GP. Anybody give me any info re this?

Sorry for such a long message!!
hello jules,

well i have just started 2ww on 3rd icsi attempt, so cant offer any major advice (cant have done that well the last 2 times!) but this time i am not hoovering (much to dh's disgust) and no baths (old wives tale?)

best of luck for october,
fi
Hi Julie

I like yourself am on 2nd cycle of ICSI my first cycle last year failed, last May, (this is my last too).

Just to let you know I started taking my Marilyne Glenville 8 weeks before E/c which is tomorrow, when I rang them to ask, they advised you should take them as soon as you can, but you do need a least a month, only you can not take asprin with them, I have also been taking Vic 1000mg and flaxseed oil as advised my M/Glenville.

I have found this time round, I have not been stressed at all, I have taken it all in my stride, (I think cos I know what to expect, I have injected in my tummy this time and not my leg. Other than that nothing.

Just wanted to wish you lots of luck this time round, I hope it goes well and you get a positive at the end of it.

Lots of Love & luck

Marteen

xxx

Hi Julie (and Fi and Marteen)

I too am having my second attempt - IVF. I've made a long list of things to do differently this time (convinced that one of them will help me get pg this time...)

No Baths - hot, cold, swimming or otherwise!!
Asprin - after ET each day 75mg (junior disprin)
Reflexology - without stimulating the ovaries!!
No Chocolate - it will kill me but it worked for Tracey Sharp!
No caffeine - I'm now a de-caf girl
No alcohol - the odd glass of wine whilst sniffing but once the injections start - totally teetotal - how dull.
Lying down for 20 mins after ET and not getting up and going straight to the loo like I did last time (my dh said I didn't spend a penny - I spent three grand!)
..and my favourite - NO HOOVERING!!!

I'd not heard of Marilyn whats-her-face (sounds like a heavy metal/punk rocker!) but if this lot doesn't work, I'll be adding her to things to do differently on my third attempt!!

I've been sniffing for over two weeks now and start injecting puregon next week, so its a bit late for marilyn to work her wonders, I'll have to rely on the other things.

Good luck to you all
fingers crossed we have lots of +ve SCB and OCB to add to the list!!

love nikola.xx

ps Julie in answer to your questions about cost. Our GP paid for the drugs for our first tmt and we paid for the tmt. Not sure if they are going to offer this time aswell, but its worth asking. It is really down to each individual GP and whether they want to 'sponsor' you or not. I guess I was just lucky!
