Kelly, Kelleyg, I am so sorry to hear.....

:( Yes, my ER suggested doing the ICSI from the very beginning. Since my FSH was just barely below the cut-off number, my ER told me that I probably would not be a good responder to the stimulation. Since I was 36 (not too old yet), he is optimist that I can be pregnant by IVF. In addition, my DH’s sperms have low motility and high morphology. My first IVF went beautifully. I had about 5-6 follies. Five follies were retrieved, and 3 were fertilized. I just met the minimum requirement for a transfer. We transferred 3 high-quality embryos. My body did not take. For some reasons, for my sequent IVF's, I did not stimulate very well. For my 2nd IVF, I produced 5-6 follies. The ER took out about 6, but none of them were fertilized. He said that the quality of the eggs was not very good. So he suggested for the next IVF to do AH and a 5-day transfer instead of a 3-day transfer. For my 3rd IVF, which is this cycle, it seems that my follies were growing at different rate. I think it was hard to catch them maturing at the same time. On my last US, there was one follie that was about to burst. Since there were a few of smaller ones, he postponed the ER date 2 days later. I am not sure what had happened. He only took out 2 eggs this time, and none of them fertilized. One of them did divide, but it only has 23 chromosomes. The egg did not assimilate the chromosomes from the sperm. I am goint to call the clinic tomorrow to schedule a follow-up appointment. I think we are going to take a break for my body to recover. We had 4 failed IUI’s last year, and my first IVF was last December. I think my body had gone through too much. I think a break is probably a good idea.

Kelly, I understand how you feel. Since learning the bad news, I was not able to get myself out of the house until yesterday because I was just utterly devastated. Sometimes, I think it’s just not fair. But, you know life is not fair. Challenges in life just make us stronger as a person. I need to keep telling myself that there is a hope. Hope is what keeps me going. I think you should try at least one more time. You might want to consider taking a longer break. Since I was on a short-flare protocol, I went straight through 3 IVF’s with the proper down regulation time,. The quality of my eggs did not seem to get better, but they seemed to get worse. I am not saying that it will happen for you, but you want to give yourself the very best chance. Since you are younger than I am, your body probably will respond much better than mine. We are thinking about going to a Chinese herbalist to balance our bodies while we’re taking the break. I heard that a Chinese herbalist can adjust the internal energy and hormones with herbs. I’ve heard from 4 different sources that around my area, there is this Chinese herbalist that many infertile women/couples go to, and they get pregnant later. I think it might be worth a try while we are recovering physically and mentally. Good luck, please keep me post it. I wish you the very best! :)

Sara,

Thank you so much. Please keep me in your prayers. I need all the prayers I can get. Also, please take care of yourself. I am not sure how far along you are. I heard that you need to get pass 15-16 weeks being pregnant to get out of the danger zone. Hopefully, tou have passed that already. Take care!

Thanks Cammy, I will be taking a break until the end of July, beginning of August. I have an appt with the Dr on Friday and will see what he says. I also made an appt with another clinic in July with a Dr I have seen before and really liked, so we'll see what he says.

Sara, thanks for the thoughts. Please keep us posted on how you are doing.

Hi Cammy,
I am doing better, thanks for asking. My appt went better than I thought. I thought for sure the Dr was going to tell me to give up, but he didn't. He is very matter of fact, and said he could up the medications but if the same thing happened, he wouldn't bother any more. I do have an appt with another facility who I already spoke to via e-mail and had a little more hope. So, now my big stress is over which facility to go to. How are you doing? I'm glad it's summer as we have a lot of plans to keep myself busy and not dwell on what's going to happen.

Keep in touch
