New from Edinburgh

Post by Catnip »

Hi there

I am going through my first round of ivf at the Royal Infirmary and am having a bit of trouble down regulating. Have been sent away twice and am getting a bit nervous about being on buseralin for so long and how it will affect the outcome. Also am like a raging bull with all the hormones coursing around my body!! Not very good!

Anyone else having a similar experience?

hi there catnip
I'm also on my 1st attempt at ivf, i've been on buseralin for two weeks now and i was quite conncerned because i don't go for my baseline scan untill the 28th and i started down regging on the 5th so that's over 3 weeks. Must admit though that i have no bad symptoms. Had af yesterday though and it is so heavy.
Why do they keep sending you away, for what reason?

Hi Wendy Woo

I had af (i take it that is a bleed - sorry absolute novice!) that lasted for 2 days and was quite heavy. Despite this my endometrium is still too thick and that is why they keep sending me away. It was thinner the second time than the first time so its going in the right direction i suppose. All this is quite scary and new and i might be making a fuss about nothing. I have been on buseralin for nearly 5 weeks now. Started it on 19th May and had first scan on 8th June - 3 weeks as well. Is that the baseline scan cos i had a scan 3 weeks before i started down regging as well. bit confused obviously! Like you, i had no bad symptoms in the first 3 weeks but really grumpy on 4th week and quite spaced out.

Are you stimulating now then?

Good luck with it all

OH MY GOD!!!!! 5 weeks down regging you must be going crazy Image
Fingers crossed for your next scan. When is it? I haven't had any scans yet my hospital don't do it before treatment. Only 9 days to go and then hopefully i'll start stimming.
Why not pop over to the general forum, there's ladies there with loads of experience who will be able to answer any questions you've got.
It would be great to keep in touch though as it seems we are cycling at arond the the same time.
Take care wendy Image

Hi Cat, sorry to see your down regging nightmare. I too didn't down reg on buseralin. I then had one jab of prostap and that did the trick.

Good luck

Gosh looks like many of you have had probs down regging with buseralin.
Must admit i'm quite nervous now about my scan on the 28th. Don't think i could bare to be held back any longer. Has anybody got any any tips of how to help down regging along. prob a silly question, don't suppose there is anything that can help. Image

Hi girls

Thanks for all your encouraging words! It is a help just to know that i am not the only person who has had a bit of bother with it!

Wendy - yes going quite mad  am a bit of an evil cow at the minute. my poor hubby is getting it in the neck a bit! We should keep in touch. its good to talk to someone going through the same at the same time! Makes you feel a bit less nuts!

Isobel - its great to hear of someone else going to the royal. I agree that the staff are great. I phoned them today just to moan a wee bit and they were very reassuring.

must ask them about prostnap - anything that could speed this up would be good.

Good luck everyone

Hi girls
How is everyone?

Cat - Did the hospital give you a date to go back for your next scan? Are you doing the jabs yourself or is dh doing them 4 u? I'm a bit of a wimp so paul does mine for me although my tum is quite bruised, u must be black and blue by now. Yesterday i said i had no symptoms but i was wrong i nearly knocked his head off last night just for fidgeting in bed. My blood was boiling and that's not like me.

Hi Isobel
Inoticed from one of your posts that you have already had one failed ivf, i'm so sorry about that. Do you mind me asking questions about that cycle?

Hi Cat,

Hope things are getting there now! I remember on my second IVF downregging took much longer than expected - like you it was weeks. I remember feeling hormonal, narky, fed up and quite despondant...

I too was at the ERI - it was them that kept me going. You, Wendy and Isobel are in great hands. The staff are fantastic and even now we still keep in touch with the nurses.

Good luck to you all!

Hi all

I go back tomorrow for my 3rd scan to check for downregging. Am having a bit of a trauma today - work stuff and really weepy last couple of days cos of happy hormones being all stripped out of me! Thats how one of the nurses at ERI described it. Am also a bit terrified in case it doesn't happen again this week. Still will just have to get on with it but I have got the names of a jag from Anna that might help speed it along - Thanks Anna. Will let you know how i got on.

Zoe - yes am feeling all the things you described but would put up with it for a year if it got me the result i want! Hope you and your family are all doing well and congrats!

Wendy - i am doing the jabs myself. Don't think i would let Jonny near me with a needle in 1 million years! He can hardly look when i am doing it. He's a bit phobic! I have not been too bad with bruising - i am like a pin cushion though. My stomach is all wee dots! I can sympathise with your irrational bad temper! Mine is exactly the same. I had a right go last night. I am on double doses of buseralin and its playing havock. I was like Nikki from Big Brother (if you watch it) she is the spoilt, stroppy little princess (if you don't)! Are you the 28th for your scan? You must let me know how you get on. I am scared for tomorrow a bit.

Good luck for tomorrow, Cat. Put work well out of your mind. Prioritise on yourself as you don't need the extra stress. (Pot, kettle and black I'm thinking as I write this :o )

Take a few days off if you can...
