Sounds like we are all doing well!!! I have a follow up appt/ultrasound tomorrow - so the doc can peak at the cerclage and baby of course - and I will be certain to ask if they can tell the sex yet (of course I still think Gizmo is a boy!!!) We shall see if I am right! Hopefully everything will look great tomorrow so I can continue to not be spastic...Having the doppler at home is great though, every night I listen to the baby's heartbeat and it is on average about 154bpm....I can't wait to feel him start to move - last week I started feeling kicks at about 15-16 weeks....

I got mine at babfm.com or you can call 1-800-939-3926. I ordered mine Friday and it came in today. Make sure you order enough ultrasound gel it goes quick. I already listened 3x's today. I love it. lol.

ahart: www.dynamicdoppler.com

They are great, they offer both choices to rent and to buy....They offer month to month rental prices and also deals...For instance I paid $63 for two months - and I got the doppler that tells me the heartbeat...otherwise it is $44/month...the one without the heartbeat is $21/month and they run about $500 to buy....I really like them and they give you the return slip so you don't have to pay shipping....i got mine in 2 days

Glad to hear everyone is well. Congrats Tracii on news you are having a daughter. How special! I changed my mind (surely being fickle is allowed for all preggy people) and think on Friday I will find out its a boy :D Okay, who am I kidding, I change my mind each day. No movement yet  makes me nervy, and sometimes even feels like am getting smaller and am not pregnant at all. (Not that the weighting scales tell the same story!).

Hope everyone is taking good care of themselves. 3 more days to scan day. eek.

Mel - All the best for Friday...it will be here before you know it! I couldn't help myself...I am always the first to open presents and I wanted to do all the shopping...if you are uncertain - I am sure the doctor will tell you when you want to know...or maybe put it in an envelope and you can read later. Don't worry about the movement....I know easier said then done....I feel a little bit (like tapping) mostly at night but could be gas as well  ...I worry too about my tummy because I am not getting any bigger..I have actually lost 2cm!! I am still in normal jeans (top button undone for comfort)...but she is healthy and growing. You will see on Friday that everything is ok :D

Ahart - I hope you are feeling ok...take care and definitely get the supplies you need! How did the doctor's appointment go?

Jamato - How are you doing? How did you appointment go today? Any news for us?

Off to take my furbabies into the woods for their walk. Have a good one 8)

Mel, Tracii is right. The movements at our stage are very minor, so don't worry. You'll be relieved on Friday for sure! 2 more days for me. I can't believe it. I had a dream that one was a boy and the other a girl. We'll see if my dreams are true. Probably not!

I guess with twins I get lucky to see the growth early on so my mind doesn't worry anymore. I've gained 25 pounds and 10 inches around my waist as of 19 weeks. I think I look like I would have about 2 months left, but really I have 5 months left. I can't imagine how big I'm going to get.

Madiva & Jessica, you had my tempted to rent a doppler after checking out those websites. That sounds so fun.

Glad to hear everyone is well.

Hi everyone,

Had my follow up appt today which I thought would include a u/s but in fact did not :( Instead it was the pelvic exam we all love (dripping with sarcasm of course) and so the good news is my cerclage stayed where it was supposed to and everything looks great to continue on healthy....So I am officially released from my specialist to my regular OB...I have an appt with him on monday but I will be calling tomorrow to request an appt for an u/s!! As high risk, I can do that within reason!

Jessica

It's great to hear you are doing well! So glad the cerclage is holding well for you! Congrats on being handed off to your OB now! I totally understand your desire for an ultrasound. There were so many visits for me and Meagan where I did not have one even though I was not high risk-I still wanted visual confirmation of our little angel. Best of luck to you! Take Care!

Love,
Christine

2nd trimester

Post by heather14 »

Jessica- I am so happy for you as well. I too, wished that my last appt was an u/s. I guess with ivf we are all spoiled by all of the pictures we get. I can't imagine what my baby will look like when I finally have the sono.
I am happy to say that I have tons of energy now. How about you other girls? I never thought I could feel this good especially after the first awful trimester. We just returned from Wash DC and dh and I walked my pregnant butt all over that city!!!! Hope everyone else feels the same way. I haven't gained that much yet 7 lbs so far but I am sure that will all change soon!!

Take care, Heather

Hi all,

Cla - I havent even thought about nappies, probably disposable though as money is an issue for us and wouldnt have a few hundred up front, although i think the washable ones are a good idea. It seems weird what we are all talking about now though.

Tracii - You seem to be getting stuck into the shopping, hope you enjoy it, i am sure you will have everything sorted in a couple of weeks!!!!!

ahart - wishing you luck getting the prescription items. In Liverpool anything to do with mobility comes via social services and it takes months to be assessed, wishing you all the best, hoping you will get the support needed.

jamato- glad to see all is as well as it should be

Mel - cant wait to hear your news on Friday, how exciting.

Tracii - does it seem any more real? now you know what your baby is going to be? I would love a little girl, I cant wait to see my baby again.

Kristi - 25lbs!!! wow, that seems a lot for the 1st 5 months(but i wouldnt know whats the norm for twins), It will be interesting to see how much you have put on by the end.

oh yeah, im fine, by the way, just stressing, 12 days til my scan

Must dash, or i will late

love

Hi all,
How're you doing?Lovely news on this thread- Tracii, Many Congratulations!!Girls are a joy everyday..

Mel,
Movements are sometimes felt as early as the 12-15th week and like you I was paranoid when I didnt feel anything as the weeks went by- I felt my first movement around week 2 and it was what I can describe as an involuntary muscle twitch..
I used to feel 'bubbles popping' around week 18 or so, but couldn't quite relate it to movements- kept thinking it was wind  or my imagination!!
You definitely will feel something in the weeks to come..

Cla, long post to you...everyone else, please ignore..unlessyou want to read thru abt nappies etc! :D
To answer your question abt nappies, we use a combination of both, the re-usable cloth ones and the disposable ones..
I found that dhruvaa slept better at night when she was on disposable diapers as the sensation of wetness doesnt bother babies when on disposables..

During the day, she is on reusable ones and in the beginning I ran through 15-20 reuasbles a day, at the rate at which she pee-d and poo-ed :D Till she was a month old, we used only reusable nappies- even at night as we felt her skin would be too tender to get used to the elastic in the disposables
I did use disposables when we went to see the doctor for her check ups, or out shopping( in india) and on my flight to Bahrain(where I am currently) from India..

After we got here, she has been on disposables at night- I usually put one on for her at 11pm and then the next change happens only at 6 in the morning unless she has poo-ed in the night- which is rare now..
6am onwards, she is on re-usables..
And of course she is on Disposables when we go out or when I'm expecting visitors to stay longer than an hour..makes it easier to handle her..
And, one Cannot put poo and all in the washing machine- have to rinse off the poo- in fact I rinse her wet nappies as well once before they go into the wash..
It depends on how you take it- baby poo doesnt smell bad, more especially if the baby is on breast milk, so its not bad rinsing it off..
But YES, it is a chore- and you have to find time for it..
so well, I hope this helped you..

Good Luck and Hugs to all here,

smita

Wow - thanks for nappy info - that's fab! Will have to think about this one. Cheers for company info Tracii - will check that one out!

Jessica - great to see the app. went well. V.Suprised they didn't do a scan but strikes me that the hospitals are so pushed that they only do them when absolutely necc (which for most of us is every day then!! Would love that!)

Re: Dopplers - If anyone wants a cheaper alternative, I got a baby heart listening monitor from Argos for less than £30. It has a monitor you strap to your belly, two sets of headphones and a connection so you can record the heartbeat on your computer (not that I've tried that yet - too technical!!). Obvioulsy not as good as a doppler, but now I'm a bit further on I can hear the heartbeat quite clearly. The unit is very light and only takes a few seconds to put on so you can whip it on and off whenever you like. No gel required!!! Just thought someof you may be interested! It's great fun (oh, and before I was this far along, and couldn't really hear anything, we strapped it to the cat instead!!!!!!!!!)

My - aren't we a happy bunch! Second tri certainly agress with us all!

Slater!
