Pregnancy and Endo

Post by Inhale, Exhale »

Hi Girls!
I am 11 weeks pregnant today (final ultrasound at fertiltiy clinic scheduled for tommorrow, hoo-RAH!) I have stage 3 endo and have had 2 surgeries, the last one was in August. I noticed that my endo pain was coming back about 5 months ago... to be expected.

However, my question is that I am experiencing the same endo back pain that I have always had (especially around ovulation) even when I am pregnant. I thought that endo pain was to go away with pregnancy and it makes me a bit nervous that i am experiencing it.

Anyone else have similar situation?

Hi Steph - are you sure it is endo pain?? There is alot going on in there right now and sounds to me it is your uterus growing. I had and still have AF-like cramping...which doc explained was all the stretching and stuff going on...in fact just today I had it. She put me on magnesium to help with this feeling...it actually works. If you are super worried can you call your doc for reassurance? I won't say don't worry cuz that is impossible...when the pain is gone then you will worry where it went - and when it is there you worry about why

Hi Steph, I had severe endo as well... (treated surgically and with zoladex jabs)... my doc told me that endo will resolve itself when I get pregnant... so I don't think your pains shd be endo pains... :) but I agree that if it's bothering you, u shd ask your doc about it....

Hi Steph.

I agree that there is always something to worry about. I was only diagnosed with stage 1 endo, but unfortunately got severe pain before and during my periods, as well as loss of old blood sometimes up to a week before my actual AF.

I don't feel that any dr really can give definate answers about endo. My periods were never as painful after I had my son so I held onto the fact that maybe pregnancy had got rid of it. He's now two and about 6 months agao I noticed loss of blood starting to appear about 4 days before AF again.

Miraculously, I am now 13 weeks pregnant naturally (found out the day after I had confirmation letter of starting IVF again!) but have had much spotting - particularly old blood. To begin with, they did see implatation haematoma, but after about 9 weeks that appeared to have gone. I had 3 weeks of nothing, than last week it started again. I've also had pain, particularly where I used to be sore around AF time and am convinced that the stretching and moving could be knocking away old blood - at least this thought is keeping me vaguely sane...

The upshot? - who really knows! Like the other girls, I think it is most likely stretching and moving - think what's going on in there! You will start worrying when it goes away!!!! - but don't worry - we always find something else to fret about - hee-hee.

If you are really fretting, speak to someone - that's what they are they for. You take care and enjoy the next few months.

Thanks for your posts Zoe, Tracii and Rouge!
I had an ultrasound today and saw that everything is great.. little arms and legs, side profile of the face, spine and the cutest little bum you've ever seen..
I feel very reassured of course!
As far as the stretching pains.. I definitely have had those on the sides.. but this is back pain exactly like past endo pain.. but I read in a book last night that back pain can start around this time.. so I will worry no more! Ahem... atleast try not to  I was so excited over seeing healthy babes that I didn't even ask doc about it....

Zoe- I also got pregnant naturally (after a pregnancy through IVF that ended in miscarriage). I found out during my baseline ultrasound to start another IVF cycle. What a surprise that was. I was 7 weeks pregnant and hot not a bloody clue.. period came as usual.... Great surprise!

Our crazy bodies! There is no controlling them...

Thanks again ladies!

Great stuff! Good to hear that all is well.

When's your due date? Mine is 26th december so you can't be that far behind. I always thought that those who could do things on cue would never get pregnant and be due at that time, so thought the hospital may be empty but I've just found out 3 other people - 2 of whom I work with are due at the same time!!!

Mind you, Sam was 7 weeks early, o maybe I don't have to worry about being away from home at Christmas

Take care

Zoe- I am not far behind you.. January 9th! Maybe a new years baby.. This will be my first though, so more likely that it will be later... Once I have the nerve to post under the 1st trimester/2nd trimester threads I am sure we will see alot of each other with our dues dates so close.... I'll get there eventually!
