Hi all. Hope you've all had a good weekend. I'm suffering slightly - 2 nightouts in one weekend. I'm getting too old! I've decided that in my 2WW I'm going to see if I can get signed off for the fortnight. Last time I was luckily on holiday at home but I was doing all my usual things. I had a bath, a facial and hanging out washing. I didn't realise that they don't recommend to have a bath or facial. I just wasn't thinking. I want to give my body and embies the best possible chance. Has anyone taken time off work during the dreaded 2WW? I only rested on the day of ER. I went up for a sleep then woke up a couple of hours later. I felt sick but thought it was because I hacn't eaten much. Then I was really sick. The clinic think it was prob because of the sedative. I might ask if I can get a different kind. I had a sedative when I had uterine embolization and wasn't sick. I can't believe that this time next week I'll be in Manchester.Image Image

on both my ivf and FET i had two weeks signed off work. the clinic i was at St barts in london recommended it if you could nbe at risk at work or had a stressful job. I am a Occupational Therapist and work in inpatient mental health unit. My boss was fine with me being off.

I had no problems after my FET. But when i did my full ivf i was really ill after getting the eggs taken. I was in lots of pain and felt really sick. I had probs keeping anything down. I remember my train ride back into london on the day to get them put back in being the worst train ride of my life. I think it was a reaction to the antibiotics.

Hope i have not scared anyone with the above. It does not happen to everyone!!!

Nicola It was a natural cycle my FET.

love susan xx

Hope everyone has had a good weekend. I have been away to Edinburgh and luckily we never had any rain!

I am getting on ok wiyth my dowers but am having the hot flushes.!!!!

Wendy/Lisa,

I can only imagine how you must have felt with those so close to you having abortions when you so desperately want a child. I am against abortion in any circumstance. There are so many families who want children and who would be willing to adopt these children.

I have tried acupuncture. Unfortunately, it in of itself did not make for a successful IVF experience. The research I have read says the most important acupuncture time is right before and right after the transfer. Unfortunately, my doctor told my husband he would not recommend it.

I have not taken the whole 2ww off, but I have taken 5 or so days. For me, it is really hard not to get out. By the end of the 5 days, I was completely stir crazy.

Best of luck to everyone!

Hi Ladies, i too tried accupuncture with my 2nd ivf, which was unfortunately a BFP,after going for months and spending £33 a session,i was all geared up for my accupuncturist to come to hospital with me the day of tranfer,bu she double booked herself so i had to drive miles to see her at a private clinic, then she came to my home 3 hours after transfer, but i think that was wasted because iv read that to get best effect, you get treated straight before transfer, then straight after,so i wasted a fortune that day then went 3 times in next week to help embies implant, but no luck, this time iv went to see a chinese practioner, who recomended some awful herb tea twice a day and accupuncture twice weekly, but to be honest as we're paying for our treatment, its all gonna depend on money, but if you can afford it,id definately recommend it,even for the relaxation purposes..Take care..Nicola..xxx

Hi everyone. Hope you are all keeping well and I'm sending lots of baby glue to all of you who are going through the process at the moment :)
I have been reading your opinions on the 2 ww. I am a medical secretary so not a particularly difficult job, no heavy lifting or much stress but quite busy all round. I have booked the week of EC/ET off work as holiday as I have just had 7 weeks off following surgery in preparation for IVF! I am reluctant to take any more time off sick for the 2 ww because of that, and I don't have much holiday left, so was planning on working throughout it. Another reason is that I would go mad sitting at home thinking, I'd rather be busy, but at the same time taking it easy and not overdoing it. Do you think this is the wrong thing to do? :?: :?: :?: HELP! :? :?

Hi everyone

I have just come over from the introductions forum in the hope of finding other people who are going through the same as me in July. I am due for egg collection on w/b 3/7 or w/b 10/7. Got my first scan since taking the stims tomorrow. I took 5 weeks to down regulate (which was a nightmare) and have raised RSH so will probably take ages to stimulate as well! Never mind - i suppose i might just be slow to respond (its been said before!!).

As for the 2ww - i fully intend to take it all off if my GP will sign me off. If not, then i'll take some holidays or something. My work is quite stressful and there is lifting involved so i'm hoping the GP will be sympathetic. We'll see.

Nicola - i made it here? Hope you are well.

Wendy - are you here yet? Thinking of you for Wednesday x

Hope to chat soon

Hi Cat,glad you came, they;re a lovely bunch of ladies...Im intending taking the dreaded 2ww off work too,ive already used 3 out of my 4 weeks holiday till next March, as my last cycle i took longer to stimulate!! So im intending going to personell and telling them i nedd off,we're entitled to 2 weeks ivf paid leave but i hadnt told anyone my last 2 times,i've hospital on Saturdy and should get rough idea of when ET will be,only thing is its slap bang in a busy time for us and theres already people on holiday..i think you have to weigh up whats most important and altough i need the job(and money!) my getting pregnant is more important,so sod the consequences!! Good luck with your scan tommorow,it all seems to be a series of hurdles, and each one you jump is a step closer to a lovely baby..xx Ems,same advice if you can stay off work just do it sweetheart..Rachel,weather here same as bloody normal, sunny one minute, then downpouring the next....Take care everyone, loads of baby dust, glue or whatever it takes to make em stick!!!!..Nicola..xxx

Hey hey Girlies,
Hope everyone is well. Wendy, welcome and I was sorry to hear of your sister. I hope you are doin alright. Jeck-thanks for the support, the shrink was pretty cool. She just gabbed with us, and sent us on our way. I also had a u/s and my lining was 5 centimeters or something like that. She said she doesn't like to see it anymore than 6. Does anyone know what that means? Rachel, hope your tootsies are ok. Started the awsome (ha!) estradiol shots on Friday. Ah!! I think dh enjoyed it just a little too much.

Hi Ladies,

Welcome to the new ladies, so many of us now, i lose track!!!!

Hope you are all well and your cycles are going well.

Well i fly tomorrow to hopefully sunny England......

Got my wheelchair booked, for my poor little toe...

Thankyou for the kind thoughts ladies, it's beginning to feel better day by day.. :)

I had a scare yesterday, i notice some brown discharge and a couple of red spots. I was worried that my AF had come 11 days early and the cycle would be cancelled.
Luckily it has worn off and the Dr says it was nothing to worry about so i'm back on schedule to start my lupron tomorrow.
Finally the day is here, the wait to start has seemed longer than the 2WW.

Rileydee - I am having Estradiol Valerate shots also, i hopefully start them on 4th July.

What are they like :?:
Do they hurt :?:
Are there any side effects :?:
What gauge needle are you using :?:
Do you do yours on Tues and Fri :?:

My Dr told me that anything over 10mm was very good. Mine was very slow growing that's why i have to have the shots this time. They also like it to be defined and mine doesn't define that well.

Are you sure it was centimetre, not millimetres :?: 5 centimetres is very thick.

On my last cycle when i got to my US i was only 5.5mm and that wasn't thick enough, so they delayed my transfer for a week, so it would grow thicker, in the end it was 13.6mm, which was a good thickness, but the delay was probably the reason why i got a BFN.

I would check with your Dr again and ask he/she to explain it all to you.

My Dr wrote the original paper on this subject, so i trust him completely.

Hugs Rachel OXO

Hi everyone.
Thanks for the tips on the 2ww. I finally sat down with my manager today and told him everything. I have an appointment with Occupational Health tomorrow to talk through things with them too so feeling better about that. My manager is happy for me to reduce my hours during the 2ww (if I get that far of course!) which is great news so I can have the best of both worlds and maybe just work mornings and have afternoons off to rest. I need to keep busy for my own sanity but it will be nice to take things a bit easier than normal and give my body the best chance. I will defo have the week of EC/ET off as holiday too. Have to say I feel like a weight has been lifted just be talking to the boss! :o
Hi Cat - glad to see you over here. Good luck with the next stage of treatment! :) :) :)

2nd cycle IVF

Post by melliot7 »

Hello July buddies,

I was wondering if I could join you. I am on my 2nd IVF cycle. This time I made myself stay off the internet and all the books until I got closer to EC. I have been stimming for awhile now. I just had a check up today and I have several follies that are 15. I have to go back on Thursday. They are estimating my EC on July 1st or 2nd. We are looking for a 5 day transfer. Last time I had 7 that made it to day five. I also have been doing Accupuncture for a month now. I hope this will help. It does help with all of the stress. I am doing a few things diff. this time around. They have increased my meds this time. I can really feel this. I start to cry for no reason. This morning my nurse told me she is getting married on Sunday so I bursted out crying. Isn't that nutty. Then she started. I feel as if I am a basket case this time. I couldn't even wear my wedding rings today because I am so swollen.

Hope everything is going well for everyone.
