Thank you for your reply to my other post. I have been reading your posts and it seems you have lots of knowledge about this IVF stuff. As I menitoned in my other post I am having one embryo transfered in the morning. From what I have read is when clinics do the transfers they use ultrasound for IVF , where if you are doing IUI they just use a catheder. The nurse was telling me today she does not think there will be any ultrasound during transfer, same method as IUI. Does this sound right?
My other questions is I have read that the its a real good idea to be relaxed during transfer. I am having acupuncture an hour before but I also read on internet that some RE's give half valume to relax you. what are your thoughts about that?
Hi Jackie, I hope you don't mind me commenting. My clinic don't use ultrasound for ET. They just use a catheter. I asked why not as in all the IVF programmes I watch they use ultrasound. He said that he's hoping to use ultrasound but first the nurses will have to be trained! They do get positvies with using the catheter. Good luck with your treatment.

i hope you don't mind my comments. i am from ca too and have a fet in early june. they did use the ultrasound to see where is the right position to place the embreyos. i think it depends from clinic to clinic
good luck and stay +ve.

The other posters are correct. It varies among clinics. The doctors I work with always use ultrasound guidance for transfers. I've never studied that aspect, so I can't say what difference it might make. If other clinics say something else works for them, they're probably right.
Thanks for your comments. I actually just got back from the transfer and they did use the ultrasound and he did give me valume to relax. It was actually comfortable and I am feeling positive. RE said that my one embryo was a good one. Grade 1.7 and it was 7 cells almost eight. So I was happy to hear that.
well done on your transfer and welcome to the 2 ww!!
On my first transfer, they did use a scan. But i am surprised that they gave you valium to relax. I have read somewhere that it is good to be relax while transfer, as the embie arrive in a "relax" womb. I was really nervous on my first transfer, so I asked for some kind of relaxing pill/gaz for the 2nd (it did not happen anyway as I had no embies), but they said no, because they consider us as pregnant as soon as ET has been done...
So I understand than you should take any meds while pregnant, but is it better to be relax with a bit of help, or very nervous??
Any thoughts on that girls??

I dont know about the outcome but It sure helped me a lot. I was real down because I only had one embie. I had accupnture done in the morning and I asked him if it was okay to take a valium and he did not see a problem with it at all as matter of fact he had also heard that it really helps your utures to relax.
On my first IVF I was given a sedative like Valium (tamarzipan) Probably spelt that wrong. Boy was I high and happy. That worked a treat, except I struggled walking afterwards for about 30 mins.
I got pregnant on that one too.

I sure know what you mean about being happy. I had become so talkative and bubblly. I kind of enjoyed it since I was so sad and nerveous. Beside I think one pill really did a number on me since I am ver petit girl
Today is my day 2 on bedrest and I am going crazy I bet you one of those happy pills would of worked right now.
July 10th is my test date I think I'll ask them to give me one before the result (just kidding).
I hope you don't mind that I jumped into this point.
My ET was today and I had Xanax to help relax my uterus. I was verrrry happy to have it. I was able to watch the embies on the ultrasound and it was way cool (think i'm still feeling that Xanax ). My test date is July 10th, too....so looks like we are in 2ww hell together!

My test date is also July 10TH. How many embies did you transfer if you don't mind me asking? I only had one so I am really praying. You should join us on the July test dates. I believe there is another girl with the same test date as us.
We put back one 8cell, one 8 cell with a little fragments, and one 7 with no fragments. But I also have the worse case of PCOS that my specialist has ever seen so I praying hard that we can get one little embie to implant. So, we are in this together and our embies will make!!!
That's awesome that we have 3 people goin throught the evil 2ww period at the same time. I have a nasty habit of reading the ending of books before I am done. So, I will need all the help I can get not to test early.
See you in the July test dates!!
