Welcome Lisa! We have a list going with big scan dates and gut feeling (boy/girl)...let us know if you want to be added. I have suffered from terrible headaches..they were gone but yesterday they decided to show up again..mine are caused by sinuses...not much I can do...doc recommended a steam bath with camomile tea (steaming tea in a bowl with towel over my head).

Bella - All the best for Thursday! What time is your appointment?

Hi to everyone!

I am doing pretty good...except for the return of the headaches. Eating lots...I feel guilty if my stomache starts growling. A friend of mine has offered tons of little girl things :D :D (she has just adopted in the US..after several failed IVFs)...I am very happy because I was told used baby clothes are the best...extra soft...and easy on the credit card!

Hi All
Its so cool to read all the posts, with so much happening for us! Welcome Lisa!! On the boy or girl wives tales, there is one which says a high heart beat predicts a girl ... which was true for me. There was an article on the front page of the national newspaper recently about on a study of cows (!! puleasse!) which they are trying now to attribute to humans which states that if you are slightly overweight before p/g it predicts a boy and underweight a girl. Hmmm right!!

Good luck bella!! Eek! How exciting. I think its neat that you are showing, true would be nice if people would keep it to themselves though huh. Am too at stage where am sick of waistbands now and wouldn't mind just kitting myself out in mu mu dresses for the duration. (Big flowing samoan tents for the uninitated  )

Sue, your up soon too! Reckon your going to hold out on finding out the sex? What an amazing suprise for you in November.

Ahart, your getting there slowly! Sounds like things are a little uncomfortable. Are you a small frame person which is making it less roomy too?

Kirsti, am not sure how big the baby is, coz theres a whole heap of measurements and abbreviations that I dont know what they mean, but I think baby is 18 cm long and weights about 380g, The u/s put my edd at 5 Nov too, one week ahead of my LMP due date of 12 Nov. So maybe baby will come early .... celebrated by the sound of all the fireworks going off for guy fawkes! Very fitting!

So jealous of you guys feeling baby kicking! Still I think nothing for me. Sometimes there is the odd hiccup but I really DO think this is gas! Maybe in a few more weeks I will feel something

Tracii ... how about names you ask! So many names!! I am in baby name heaven at the mo!! My current faves are Scarlett, Maia (determined brave one in Maori), Anahera (Angel in Maori and my grans name), ..... and a bunch of others including Zoe, Anais, Autumn, and Sera. I have 40 more in a list that I have to whittle down!! What fun. Have to be careful I don't name baby with something thats going to give her a complex and a bunch of earache in the playground! Though have to say that people really liberal with names over here, in my DH's family too heaps of lovely slightly off the wall names.

I love the ones you guys have thought of for you wee ones

Ciao for now, hello to everyone else too (off to satiate my trawl of the internet for more names!)

Hi girls!!!

Had my 15 week check up yesterday and my level II ultrasound will be scheduled for 18 weeks along with my next follow up....The level II ultrasound lets them see all the organs so looking forward to finding out if boy or girl (I still think its a boy) Heartrate yesterday was 150 and every night I check it with my doppler and it ranges from 147-154 - at eases my mind each night before going to sleep....

Defenitely feeling more energy although I am not a morning person, initially getting out of that bed can be a chore, then I realize how hungry I am and that helps motivate me for breakfast!

Still only gained 2lbs!! Which I am totally ok with!!

Jessica,

So good to hear things are going well! I loved the Level II scan! It was wonderful to see Meagan's bones and organs and such. I can't wait to hear what you are having so I can do a little shopping for you :-) Best of luck and hope to see you soon!

Best wishes to everyone else in the 2nd trimester! Motherhood is such a blessing! Have a great day!

Lisa - welcome over here, it's really nice to have more and more people join.

Jessica - so glad your checkup went well and not long until your next one.

Mel - im sure you will feel the baby moving very soon and then you will be complaining when it is using you like a football  We can never win!! 40 names, WOW, i must start looking at a few again, still can't believe it is real.

Kristi- How are you? It is amazing that the 3 of us are past the 20 week mark.

How are people going with the sickness? Mine settled right down and then every so often it hits full force (YUK), last night it was so bad, i was bringing up blood with it, but today it has been fine.

Love

Ohhh Sue - take care, blood doesn't sound good. I have not thrown up once and my m/s was only between about week 5 and 7. Do you think stress could be making you sick too?

Mel - Where are you finding such beautiful names??? I have to admit we aren't so creative but would like to know where on the internet you searching.

Jamato - Yeah on the scan!! Only a couple of weeks until the US II. Ours is next week...DH will finally be meeting his little girl.

OK..I am being really sentimental right now..must be hormones...but are you all soooo in love with your babies? It is such a strange feeling to have this overwhelming love, it brings me to tears every time I think how lucky we are.

Tracii,

Yes, yes and yes!!! The hormones thing - driving in the car listening to the radio - so many songs could make me cry so easily!!! And the love is rooted so deep - it is amazing how quickly we fall in love with our babies - I think I am actually experincing some kind of movement (that quickening thing) for me it isn't so much flutters as it is swooshes - kinda as if the baby shoots from one side to the other....Last time I felt kicks at 16 weeks - but I am also very short and may attribute to why I already feel "things" - but I can say that it is clearly different than gas bubbles....

hello

can I join you all, i'm just coming into my 14th week?

Lisa, I have been having major headaches too! I said I would not whinge about anything if I got pregnant but I have whinged about these headaches. I didn't even want to take paracetamol but have taken it this week. I find cold packs on my head help a little and something called 'forehead' that you rub on your forehead, takes the edge off. they have been verging on migraine at times.

when did everyone really start to look pregnant? At the moment I just look like I put weight on!

Hello All -

It is so fun reading about everyone's experiences. I think everyone has such a great attitude about everything, even when things aren't going perfectly. I guess maybe we are all just so appreciative to be where we are that the little preganancy annoyances (headaches, tight clothes, heartburn) aren't going to get us down.

For the girls with headaches, the biggest help I have found is to make sure I stay hydrated. I started drinking about 2 liters per day (64 ounces) and have now worked up to 3 liters (almost 100 ounces). It has really helped to prevent them. Otherwise Tylenol helps.

My big 2nd trimester adventure has been breaking out in a "pregnancy rash". Who knew that you can be allergic to pregnancy, or more specifically the placenta. The rash is on my legs, arms, belly, and now my face and it is extremely ITCHY! Not much can be done for it. Just some steroid cream that doesn't seem to help much. Oh well :)

Wishing you all the best through the last 2 trimesters... and beyond :D

Julie, how ironic. I was just telling my DH that I noticed a rash starting on my stomach and it's itchy as can be. I wonder if I'm getting what you got?

I have a really bad cold. I'm actually thinking it might be bronchitis. I'm coughing so hard I worry that it's affecting the babies. I have a check up tomorrow with my OBGYN so I'll see what he thinks.

Welcome to Terry & Lisa to the 2nd Trimester!!

I have to say, I probably haven't been drinking enough Julie, probably half what you are drinking so I'm going to follow your advice and see what happens. I have a weak bladder so I'll be peeing every 5 minutes!
anything to avoid the headaches!

thanks

Mel_P: I have a large frame and my beanies are moving all over the place...They have started to kick really hard now and although they're the sizes of grapefruits...it feels weird and sometimes it hurts..but all in all I'm thankful they're active..I check their heartbeats daily and so far they range 145-154......for both...I can't wait for 2 more weeks to get here so we can see them again and find out how much they weigh.....Last time they weighed 2 more ounces than normal.....Doc said if they keep growing at that rate, they will be big beanies.....I eat about every 2 - 3 hours...

:D Lisa B75, welcome...I have headaches alot and since I've been drinking a little more water than I ususally drink they have decreased slightly....I also have a precription for BUTALBITAL/APAP/CAFFEINE TABS, my Dr prescribed...I was happy to know that my headaches were not due to hypertension.

Jamato :D I'm very happy to hear everythings okay with you and your precious beanie..take it easy

Hey all! It's been a while since I saw the list so I thought I'd update it and bump it up! Good luck for tomorrow Bella!

Had my 24 week midwife app. yesterday. The usual wee, blood pressure, measurements etc.! Can you believe that due to "money cuts" my local hospital have decided not to do "showrounds"! My local NHS antenatal class used to organise this apparently but they've stopped. Midwife said to call them nearer the time though and insist/beg/both!!!! Just think it would be useful to know where to go/what to expect etc. beforehand. Miserable so and sos!!

Midwife confirmed that we don't get anymore scans unless there is something wrong (boo!). Although will call the private unit where I had my nuchal fold scan as they do 3d/4d private scans which we'll probably go with. Hang the expense!!!! Will let you know when I get the app.

Hope everyone else is ok!

Hello Everyone!

I am moving over from the First Trimester section. I am 14 weeks and I will have my scan on August 3 to check on all the baby parts!

My Gut feeling is a boy so add me to the list! My DH said its a girl =)

Its so exciting moving over. Its like another big step has passed in the pregnancy.

Will I be able to reach my keyboard when I move over to the 3rd Trimester board??

Big hugs to everyone!

Danielle
