Sue - any news from the scan?

For those not finding out the sex...probably a good money saver!!! I fell in love with & bought every cute little girl's item of clothing on Saturday, much to DH's shock. We now have so many cute outfits for our little girl's first few months of life.....now , to start saving money!!!

Thanks for the advice.

I stopped taking pregnacare ages ago as I found it made me more sick. I just took folic acid. noone has told me to take iron and calcium. I do take sachets of natural iron supplements I got from the health shop though as I'm hoping it might increase my energy.......I'm so tired all the time.

Hi all,

Scan was fine today although she did have problems getting to see the fine details eg. chambers in the heart etc. but said from what she could see there was no cause for concern. I have to go back in 3 weeks when bubble is a bit bigger. So of course there was no chance of finding out the sex. Will drink a bit more water next time.

Have fun ladies and stay cool

love

Sue e- I am so glad everything went well at the exam..sorry you couldn't see the sex but you still have time :D I wouldn't worry about not seeing the heart chambers too clearly...esp. if doc is not concerned.

How is everyone feeling?

I am feeling the little one kick throughout the day...also at the scan last Friday doc said "oh you have an animated little girl"...so I think we may have an active one on our hands. I am getting really addicted to feeling her kick and enjoy it! I can also see her move around...esp. when she moves from left to right (and vice versa) i.e. mystomache moves!

Headaches are gone :D The vaseline in the nostrils really seems to be working. Somewhat tired in the afternoon but I find if I take a nap I can not sleep at night so I really try to hold out from napping.

Big scan on Thur. with DH...I am more excited for him because he hasn't 'seen' the baby yet.

I wish everyone the best :D

Sue, Great to hear the scan was good. As Tracii said would listen to the experts. If they're not worried then nor should you be. I thought you said you weren't gonna find out the sex? Are you changing your mind?!!!!

Tracii - glad the headaches have gone. I really suffered as well in the first Tri and it's not something I really get so I can sympathise. My little one is also a trainee gynmast (takes after her/his mum - although having torn all the ligaments last year trying to impress friends kids with my backflips I decided my gymnastic days are over!!!)

Sorry I feel I've been away for ages and lost track a bit! Will read back and get up to date! Hi to all though! Have tried to update the list a bit. Have made my app. for the 3d/4d scans for 20th July - can't wait!!!!

The Big Scan
Madiva - June - BOY!
Cla - 1 June - Sex a suprise - gut feeling = boy!!!! 3d/4d scan 20 July
Tracii - amnio 14 June, results on 16 June Gut feeling = GIRL!, & it is a GIRL!!!!
Julie - June - 21 wk scan kei te pai - sex a suprise!
KristiA - june 22 - gut feel was boy/girl = turned out to be 2 boys!
Mel P - june 23rd (sex tbc .... reckon its a GIRL!) - it's a GIRL!!
Bella - June 29 (big feeling it's a BOY) And it's a ... GIRL!!!!
Sue - 3rd July scan went well (will be keeping it a surprise)
Ahart - 11th July (Twins ....)
Heather14 - 8th July (keeping it a surprise) gut feeling= BOY
Jamato - 13th July, gut feeling = BOY
LisaB – Scan TBD, gut feeling = TBD!
Terri2 – Scan TBD, gut feeling = TBD!

Hi all :D

I spent the weekend with the inlaws and they all say that the more inactive the baby - the more likely babe will be a girl. For all of those who know whether they're having a boy or girl - do you find this to be the case? We opted not to find out and our baby is not overly active. Babe kicks just before bedtime and usually around 9 am but is pretty quiet for the rest of the day/night (as far as I know). I'd be interested to know if this little theory of the inlaws is true!

I am having a boy and he kicks and moves alot. I notice that when I lay down or when I am just sitting back doing nothing I will start to feel him alot. His kicks are getting alot stronger too.

I have a heart doppler and listen to the heart beat every night and last night we could not find it (was so nervous). I moved it all the way to my pelvic bone way low and thank God there it was. I do wonder though if he should be that low, but I am not in pain and felt nothing unusual so I guess it is ok.

Hey everyone! I'm back from my holiday. And yes, this was my 4th holiday/vacation in the past 6 weeks. I think I'm done traveling for quite a while now though.

It's been nearly a week since I posted last. The babies are kicking & moving like crazy now (both boys also). I feel them many, many times during the day. I've now gained 30 pounds. Oh, and I had my first contraction this weekend. Doctor said it's normal to have a couple of them per day at this point. Scared me a bit though.

I caught up on everyone's posts...but if I comment on all of them this message will be way too long!! Glad to hear everyone seems to be doing well and those babies are being more active!

Sue, I guess your little one will keep you wondering for 3 more weeks! Glad the scan went well though and no cause for worry.

I know this is probably a dumb question, but what does a contraction feel like?

Not a dumb question. I asked my doc that too. How would we know? Last week he told me to start expecting them....maybe a few of them a day. They are ok as long as they aren't continuous, frequent or close together. The first thing I said was "well, what is it like?". He took his hand around my arm loosely, then started squeezing tigher and tigher over about 5 seconds, then started loosening his grip little by little. So the whole example of one lasted maybe 10 seconds.

The next question I asked him was "Well, will I feel it in my vagina (thinking like an organsm or keegal) or in my stomach?" He said it's in my stomach. Which is exactly what I felt. In my lower stomach area it was a slow "tightening & loosening" feeling that lasted about 10 seconds. Same as he did with his hand on my arm. It made me grab my stomach and go "oh my gosh, what's happening?" It tighened, loosened and was over. I said "holy crap, I had a contraction, get me out of this 107 degree weather (in Las Vegas) and let me lay down in air conditioning". hee hee

He said you might have one and not realize it....but he said it does feel different than anything else....so if you realize it you will know that's what is happening.

Hi All

Sue ... well what a bonus ... you get to see munchkin a second time in a couple of weeks! I don't get another scan until 32 weeks, but even that is nice I guess. Was trying not to sulk that the m/w wouldnt make it earlier!

Bella - isn't the shopping addictive!! I am actually grateful that DH doesn't know sex as it's is going to save us a fortune by curbing my shopping! Not sure how to bridge the whole boy/girl thing with him. At this stage he won't find out its a girl until shes is born, and he is convinced (and quite stoked!) that its a boy! The only thing he took an interest in in the baby store was a little new born all black romper suit!

On my birthday I felt the first little kick!! How special is that! The best present ever! Its soooooooooo addictive I want her to kick all the time! At this stage its only been a couple of times a day, so it fits with the inlaws predictions, though m/w says I wont feel as much because of where the placenta is placed.

Happy times! Hope everyone is kei te pai

kirsti - a quick question ... are you feeling contractions now because your having twins? Or did your doctor say to expect feeling contractions from around this time? I never heard that yet! But I havent read past wkk 22 in my pregnancy book!

Mel, I'm so glad you felt the first kick! And on your b-day! I'm so happy for you. I laid in bed last night and Baby A was moving & kicking like crazy. DH fell asleep. I laid there giggling every time he moved/kicked. I felt like I was playing with him for about 20 minutes. It almost brought me to tears and I prayed to God and thanked him again for this miracle. Living babies moving around inside my stomach. How amazing is that? I know you all can relate.

Anyway, Mel, great question about the contractions! I don't know if it's a twin thing or not to have them this early. Doc just said to expect a few of them a day and not to worry. I believe they are called Braxton Hicks contractions (early in your pregnancy & not an indication of labor). Curious to see if anyone else knows.
