Hi all.
I just wanted some info on anyone have treatment abroad.
I'm trying to make the hard decision of which clinic to change to after 3 failed DIUIs and 2 failed ICSI at Liverpool Women's.
I notice most women go abroad for donor eggs, but it looks like the clinics abroad have a much better success rate- or am I reading too much into the figures? I'm 37 and we have male factor. However I think there are perhaps immune problems with me as I only ever make it to day 9 post collection before the evil witch shows up.
If not abroad then it will be either CARE Manchester or ARGC, but I'm not sure I'll be able to afford it.
Any stories would be helpful- good and bad.
Thanks in advance.
Lynne
I went abroad for donor egg treatment, but I would imagine that you could go for tmt with your own eggs, you just need to do a bit of research.
The clinic we went to is called ISIDA, in Kiev (Ukraine). A lot of people would shy away from tmt in Eastern Europe, but it was by far the best clinic I have ever been in, very new, absolutely spotless, caring professional staff, and the cost of DE tmt was cheaper than I could get it for in the UK.
Treatment with your own eggs may be cheaper still, as you are not contributing for the donor's expenses. The only snag is of course the air fairs and the accommodation, but if you treated your tmt as a holiday, you could justify the extra travel expenses.
Isida have a very good embryologist, and one of their doctors, Dr Sobolev has a particular interest in the "state of our uterus". If you feel you have possible immune issues, have you explored this here in the UK? I am sure they would explore this for you abroad also, but you may be able to get it paid for by the NHS in this country. How sympathetic is your GP?
If you are interested in going abroad, you can google Isida Hospital and you should be able to find them. There are loads of cllinics in Europe, if you are interested I can real off a few names.
Any help I can give in any direction, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks Bev for the info. I'm not sure if my GP is any use at all. I am going to see him on Thursday to ask for a re- referal.
I have Graves disease which is a thyroid condition. Although it has been stabilised I can't help thinking it is this that is causing problems. Also because I come on on day 9 post ovulation every month I am looking into NKCs or
My reg for my thyroid is completely useless and prescribed me drugs that caused spontaneous abortion. I had to fight with him to get him to change them. My clinic here has not taken my thyroid into account (although I must admit I'm not taking the meds any more).
I want to move abroad because I think the success rates are better and I have run out of money. Also I'm sunning out of time. My FSH is high and I produced less eggs this time than last.
I have looked into:
IM Barcelona (who don't return my enquiries)
Jinemed Hospital Turkey (who I like)
Fertility Centre Brussels (consultation 17th July as we are driving past- ish on holiday)
CARE Manchester (who I don't think I'll be able to afford)
ARGC London (who I definitely won't be able to afford)
Basically I am fed up with the British Medical System. They are charging me £50.00 for a copy of my notes. It's a joke, isn't it?
If you could give me a list of good places I'd be grateful.
By the way HUGE CONGRATULATIONS on your BFP. I'm chuffed for you.

Hi Lynne
Just reading your note about IM Barcelnoa - when I first emailed them I got no reply, tried again, no reply, emailed them asking why they weren't replying and they phoned me, having found my number through international directory enquiries as I hadn't given it to them and said they had been replying. Somehow their messages must have got stuck in my spam filter or something. After that I used my work email to talk to them. So maybe they are having the same trouble with your emails, who knows. Anyway, why not give it one last go.
There is also Ceram in Marbella but I don't have any experience of them and clinics in Cyprus which deal with UK clinics.
My GP is rubbish and really doesn't understand either and sometimes I have wanted to shout at him but have managed to restrain myself!
Best of luck, hope you can get some answers from a few clinics to compare,
Lots of love
Kat xx

This is my first post here. I usually post on another site. Sounds like I'm looking for the same info as you! I'm trawling through trying to find alternative foreign based clinics to do ivf with my own eggs. I've been with the nhs for two years. Have just had a biochem pg with my first and last nhs funded cycle. After that I'm now looking where to go. Have been to see the argc, but am worried that I don't have enough ££s for more than 1 go, if I have enough for that! Then I'm looking at Care Notts with Dr. George Ndukwe. I've been advised to get immune testing so would need a clinic that either do it or are happy for me to do it alongside tx. Although, it might be more of a stress to coordinate everything separately as well as travelling abroad. But I do have friends that have done this. I have friends who have got BFPs at Isida in Kiev and Altravita in Moscow.
Anyway, thought I would say hi and let you know I'm thinking of doing the same. Maybe we can pool resources.
