No Heartbeat at 7 Wk Scan

Post by Melanie71 »

Hi

Just wondering if anyone can tell me if they have experienced this and what was the outcome?

I went in to my IVF clinic today for my 7 week scan - it was an internal scan.

The nurse did not locate a heartbeat and she said the baby was measuring like a 6 week and 2 day baby.

I go back next week - and if no heartbeat then they will take out the baby and placenta.

I am so sad - and am hoping for a good outcome next week.

It seems most people who have posted have had a heartbeat at six weeks - has anyone got a hearbeat at 8 weeks for the first time or had a similar situation to mine - can you tell me what the outcome was?
 :?:

Melanie,

I know that some girls' clinics on here don't scan until 8-9 weeks as they say it's too early otherwise. Some early scans (6-7 weeks) detect a heartbeat, others don't. I really hope that next week brings better news for you.

Thinking of you

Hey Melonie
Thinking of you and hoping it works out well for you. If maybe the baby had implanted late and was only at 6 wks 2 days it could make sense there is no heart beat there yet ... I scanned at 7.5 weeks, at my clinic they didn't scan until the 7th week before looking for a heartbeat. Hoping all the very best for you, it know it must be an excrutiating wait, but keep faith and hang in there until you have your next appointment. Let us know how it all goes

Hi to All who have replied to my first posting

I wanted to let you know, I had my second scan today - Tuesday and still no heartbeat at eight weeks and the baby had only grown 1mm and the Nurse said it should have grown 1cm more by now.

They had this morning taken my blood levels to test my hormones and if they are decreasing, then they will let me misscarry naturally. If they are the same I will have a DC to remove placenta and baby in next couple of days.

They say I can try again in a few months when my cycle and hormone levels are back to normal.

It is very sad - I am trying to be strong - just trying to get through it all.

I think I might be in shock - too much to take in.

Thank you
Melanie
