Hi Em and Nicki ..... still waiting on ovulation and LH surge :( - the nurse reckons it'll be Thurs or Fri which is day 17 or 18 so a long cycle for me!!

Nicki you're right - need to stop stressing, I'm just so excited though that I am being very impatient. Need someone to do an ovulation jig for me!! -

Em I've had a look at my clinics on Thursday and Friday - unfortunately either day I have a clinic to do on my own with no one to cover if I go off as other colleagues away on their own clinic or holidays but heh ho it can't be helped. The nurse has offered to treat me in my lunch hour if that helps but don't really want to be stressing either about having to be back for a certain time etc then maybe not making it. Want to be all calm and relaxed :D I'm sure I will be much less cautious on future cycles (if I need them - PMA rocks  LOL! )

Nicki / Em I will be due to cycle again (if it does end in BFN) at end July so will be with you all the way girlies 8) (IUI probably 14th August)

Em Nicki and I post on Phoenixes rising thread too. Are you on August thread?? Thought about posting there but haven't yet.

hey guys,

I"m meant to have a scan on day 10 and then bloods every morning after that until they detect LH surge and then IUI the next day. But the first time I had the scan on day 10 and he was happy with the follicle size and gave me a HCG jab and did the IUI the next day.

The last time, I didn't have the scan as day 10 was a public holiday, so I went straight to bloods. There was a mix up and I had the IUI twice just to be sure (on day 12 and 13).

So I haven't really had a cycle that has gone normally yet. Is that how you guys do it? I don't know about the urine tests.

Lisa - are you using Clomid?

I normally post on the April thread. There's 4 of us who did our first cycle together (all BFN's) and we can't bear to let each other go just yet. Did the phoenix thread start as a cycle thread? I've often seen it and wondered what it meant. I find it hard to post on the month threads when I don't know dates etc.

Well thats cool that we'll all be cycling together! Bring on AF!

Hi Nicki, Hi Em

I am now officially on my 2 WW!!! :D :D Had bloods this morning then phoned at 11 am. LH surge detected and oestrogen levels had doubled so went in this afternoon.

Have been advised to wait 17 DAYS :( and test on Saturday 29th July) but go to Italy on Friday 28th July so I might test on Thursday 27th as I know I usually always ovulate on day 16 (today) and have AF 14 - 15 days later.

Em, my clinic doesn't do follie scans. Only bloods to monitor oestrogen and LH levels. They get you in on day of LH surge so that the swimmers are there and waiting for the egg to be released (as you ovulate 24 - 48 hrs after LH surge). I'm not on clomid - doing a completely naturel cycle - are you on clomid?? and are you using the same clinic??

Nicki I asked this morning about the pee sticks. I don't want to worry you by telling you this but my clinic told me that they did a study 9 years ago comparing LH levels in bloods, urine samples and pee sticks. They found that in some cases the urine and pee sticks were showing up the LH surge later than it was actually happening ie later than it showed up in the bloods. This is why my clinic does it with bloods. To put your mind at ease if you are worried, why don't you speak to the clinic.

5th IUI before IVF

Post by gmd »

Hey everyone,

I am glad to see that there are some out there going through IUI. I'm new at this but I love to read everyone's experiences. We were going to stop at our 4th IUI but we can't get in for IVF until August so doc. wants to try another one in between cycles. This will be on Friday. My dh and I have been trying for 2 years now. We got pregnant on our 3rd attempt with IUI but miscarried at 5 weeks. I just had a lap. done a few weeks ago and I have stage 3 endo. It was treated and removed but doc. thinks we should try IVF. It is hard to keep our hopes up but I'm trying really hard. My question is, has anyone had an IUI after a lap.? Does it make your chances better? Oh yeah, I also have a tipped uterus so it's hard to get "things" in there. Just wondering if anyone has some of the same issues as me? Any advise or suggestions will help. Thanks. G

Thanks...I actually went in today for insem. The doc. office called yesterday and said they wanted to do a double. One today and one tomorrow. I am keeping my fingers crossed this time. I was cramping a lot afterwards today. Has that happened to anyone.? I remember it happening only once before with me. I hope that's a good thing.

I'm pretty sure it's not ovulation pain. This was like menstrual cramps but about ten times worse. I've heard that sometimes your uterus starts contracting after a IUI because of all of the sperm and fluid they put in. The nurse said it wasn't a bad thing. I just hope it's better tomorrow. I still hope though. Lis, good luck with your waiting. It's hard I know. Thanks for the ideas... G :D

Hi Guys,

G - welcome! Its great that you are on your 2ww with Lis! I had cramping after my second IUI. I have a retroverted uterus too, and with the 2nd IUI, the doc had trouble getting the cather through my cervix. He had to put traction on it which hurt to hell, and then I had cramping for the rest of the day. With the other two IUI's he had no trouble and I had no pain, so???

I had a lap before I had any tmt as the doc was sure I had endo, but everything was clear so the lap had no effect. But I have heard a lot of people have success with IUI's straight after laps (where they remove endo) as the tubes are in good condition.

Lis - good luck on your 2ww. We'll be here for you.

Nicki - I ovulated yesterday so AF will definatley be here on the 28th....I'm like clockwork!

Thought I'd draw up a list so we know where we are at.

Lis- 2ww, test date ????
G- 2ww, test date ????
Nicki- AF due 25th July, IUI ????
Em- AF due 28th July
IUI due 10th Aug
Test date around 26th Aug

Hugs to all,
Em
